Well done on the tax thingummy writes she who paid an accountant to do it as its too darn complicated for a 'bear of little brain'Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I used to, believe me, Watty! It got to be way too big a percentage of my gross, so I had to start doing it myself. The technician who'd done it during that time gave my figures a look over the first time I did it, which was kind of her, and they were more or less on target.
Very tired today! Filled in a multiple choice form, and sent out a few emails, that was it, most of the day spent in bed. And speaking with my mum, who's decided to go for the pensioner bond, I wasn't on top of it for her, but she's got there under her own steam2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
At 4% for the three year bond, that pensioner bond looks to be a good bet. I'd go for it myself if I was old enough!
Glad you got a good rest today, hopefully you'll feel a little better tomorrowEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Thanks Goldie
I've purposely done nothing today, because I was working - 2 clients, 3 hours. And I feel fine! I'm still doing nothing, mind you, tho I've gently been pootling about over the last few days, and can finally start my decluttering list:
1. table mat freebie of leather that stuck to absolutely everything.
2. home-recorded dvd (asda blank) that didn't work any more - about 10 of these have gone over the last few months, actually.
3. sports bra - M&S, but never very good. I cut the fastenings off, in case I want to use them
4. my lovely single cup coffee filter, sob ....
5. tea strainer - its lovely and stylish, but I've soaked it in vinegar for 36 hours, scrubbing it every so often with wire wool, and the pores are still clogged. Time to go into the recycling
6. 5 books - none of which Amazon want as trade ins, pah!
Do books count as one each, or one group? :rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Do you have an idea? Colour me hopeful.
Plus I have:
7. hardbacks ripped off 3 more A4 sized diaries - thats a good half-inch of storage space saved
8. dried up fabric pen thrown.
Right, I managed to keep today for me, so the focus is health, writing, and maybe a little bit more of the admin that has to be done this month: filling in my re-accreditation form with my professional organisation, or doing the French accounts (which is much, much simpler than the version of the French accounts for the English tax man, as I have to have an accountant over there).

Hi RT :hello:
Yes, I'm finally starting to feel a bit better. Not done anything on the list, however, just as I was about to start, my HMRC call came through, was supposed to be Monday, so they're doing well. However ... the tax return is now in a worse state than previously, its still counting both the net and the gross income. The tax rebate is in, but thats not much use if most of the income is double counted :rotfl:
Apparently, there's a helpline you can ring when you're actually online filling it all out, so after I've eaten something I *might* have a go at that. I'm trying to remember what the changes are that we made on this phone call (which was 40 minutes long!) before I do anything else.

I've just discovered one of those 18cl bottles of red wine, half full still - I think I was saving it to put in a stew, something like that. Is it true that you can do that? Its months old
Googling gives no conclusive answers (or maybe I'm just dazed and confused by my tax phone call) ...

Try a descaler on the tea strainer???
Good luck with the telephone call to HMRC when on line filing - I used it with a pal whilst doing theirs and they were brilliant - it was about 8 pm in the evening and the lovely chap said he had nothing to do !!!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
