Just seen this thread - if you are real then you need to get real. I work for online and do my best to not upset anyone, HOWEVER in the real world it aint always possible, sometimes ... "god strike me dead" I have to block a driveway or worse a single track out of the way road (come bomb cratered track) that someone has decided in their wisdom to live on. At all times I am ready to move the van should a problem arise.
Tesco vans are side loaders which make them sometimes even more awkward to park as well.
Our average drops last from 4 to 10 mins and should a neighbour moan I am happy to shift it.
Reminds me when we had an old dog and it couldn't control its rear end business ... my wife was picking up the pooh outside this large house when the old lady from the house came out ranting "you dog owners should all be killed!" - Nice woman - hope she had a pleasant end ...

I only wish i had. Sadly i dont have the time nor the funds for such a grand journey. I have travelled Spain,Italy,France,Gibraltar,Germany,The Netherlands,Greek mainland and Islands,Malta,Cyprus,Ireland north and South,Various Canary Islands,Eastern and Western Seaboards plus inlands of the USA. Of course in heavily urbanised areas there is a greater ppulation density and more apartments etc but the UK has one of the highest population densities in the world.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Well in Germany alone more than 55% of the total populace live in flats, codominiums an appartments. Before you add in shared houses, houses with no driveway, terraced houses etc. France is similar though slightly lowers as are the Skandi countries.

  • Wow. What an unsympathetic, judgmental bunch you are. Making excuses, accusing me of hysteria(!), clearly not reading the entire post, all because I'm annoyed at a company breaking the law when there was no real reason to and in the process causing a potentially serious problem for me.

Just the thought of having to go through all that again is unbearable without the added complication of having to explain it to a stranger while it's happening, and yet apparently asking Tesco to behave within the law and give a decent response to a customer complaint is unreasonable of me.

I sincerely hope that, if any of you ever need an ambulance, there's a huge fleet of Tesco vans illegally parked and blocking them from getting to you.

Instead of rambling on, why don't you just ask the driver to move the van if you need to get out?
I bet you don't like other people parking perfectly legally in front of your house either :)

It is not a illegal to park temporarily in front of a dropped curb. Whoever told you that is mistaken. It is my mentioned in the Highway Code as a "Do not" rather than a "Must not". Only "Must not" rules are legal requirements.

It depends on what "temporarily" means. My ex had a van parked across her dropped curb, there was no sign of the driver and she needed to drive out. She phoned the police and they had it towed away in under 30 minutes. I'm guessing they couldn't do that if it wasn't illegal. This happened about three years ago if it makes any difference but I do actually think OP is overreacting in this case. Just found this, no idea if different councils have different rules,

Theres a difference between parking and loading / unloading.

Clearly in your case they were right to tow it.

They do have diffenrent rules in different council areas. In some other places only if it has an official white line in front of it is an offence committed. Everywhere else it's unlawful to obstruct someone coming out, but not going in, but only if you refuse to move or can't be found in a reasonable time.

Completely agree, in my ex's case nobody knew where the driver was or how long he'd be, in OP's case it was pretty obvious what was happening and that it wouldn't take long.

You are being way too hysterical and precious about an event that didn't harm you in any way.

Look - the fact that the van was delivering meant that the driver wouldn't have been far away. He would have been within shouting distance if needed to move urgently.

As with the rest of us... the world does not revolve around you and is not here for just your convenience.
    :rotfl::rotfl:
you perhaps haven't read the rest of the ops threads/ posts.
if there is anything to moan about this op will find it, the last thread was regarding a hand delivered parcel, she wanted the post office to hand it to her not a random stranger.:rotfl::rotfl:
