Hey, it sounds like it might just be your charger. You can get a new one on amazon pretty cheap, I get replacement batteries and laptop chargers every so often.

Laptops can be a real pain to fix as all the component are jammed in so tightly. I've got a broken one under the bed that I haven't bothered to look at fixing since it's so time consuming. I might just rip up the parts and sell them online. :o

If you do need a replacement I would consider getting a computer instead, you can get some custom build ones or refurbished ones real cheap, (cheaper than a new laptop) and get it fixed for quite a few years after you buy it.

Or, if you just use it for browsing the internet/e-mails/spreadsheets, tablets are getting amazing, you can buy a wee case/keyboard and it becomes a mini laptop. There is a drawback, however, some interactive websites don't run on tablets so well. I think some programming languages just don't translate well with the tablet processor.

I guess it's food for thought!

Hi Steerpike, thanks for your comment - certainly lots to think about there. It seems to be ok as long as the laptop is on a completely flat surface so hopefully it will keep going a bit longer :)

Spends for yesterday were £4.70 on bus fare. Today £5 on cleaning products, bread and milk. The contact lens direct debit went out today too.

I got my payslip through for 2nd job today but am too tired just now to do a proper budget - will get that sorted tomorrow. I will need £20.24 for my phone bill, £16.99 for gym and £20 for a friends birthday present/card for another friends son.

  • Hope you had a good rest coz those budgets won't make themselves you know ;)

No...seriously, you're doing great! Ooh and pizza express....YUM. I love the one with goat's cheese and garlic oil. Or is that pizza hut? Hmm...that's probably a good thing that I can't remember. Show's how long it has been since I went to either. Well my birthday is coming up. Maybe that can be my present :) x

Haha the budget is now made. Did it this morning as I was still so tired last night and ended up falling asleep on the sofa at 8.30pm :o

Yum that one sounds amazing, love anything with garlic. I'm very boring and always get one which has chicken and chargrilled veg or the veggie one without looking at the rest of the menu. But I will definitely have a look out for that one next time I go. Have to say I do go to Pizza Express on a fairly regular basis as it's always good and there's usually some sort of voucher for it :)

The budget for this week - £89.32
    - £20.24 phone bill
    - £16.99 gym
    - £2.09 cc1
    - £10 glasses
    - £15 food
    - £25 day out with sister

I went to the opticians yesterday and am going to be getting a new pair of glasses. Because I'm on the contact lens direct debit, I can get free/discounted glasses. Unfortunately I didn't like anything in the free range but only had to pay £10 for a pair I really liked so super happy with this.

Unfortunately my friend is not feeling well so I won't be seeing her over the weekend but it means I can put off buying her birthday present until next week. Which is good as my sister reminded me that we'd planned a wee day out during the week.

No money from OH this week as he only worked one short shift last week with his cousin being here, however, it will be back to usual next week and I can start saving for the next electricity bill which is due out the start of November.

I received my monthly payslip today so will get £1042.45 a week on Monday.
    - £960 for rent, loan and council tax
    - £75 for credit cards
    - £25 for christmas savings
    - £10 for LOVEfilm
So will be £27.45 short for covering this  oh well I'll get money from OH and my wage from 2nd job on Friday so it will be covered but still annoying.

  • Great news re: the glasses, but sorry to hear about the budget shortfall. It is good that you're so precise tho, because it's stuff like that which can really add up e.g. a shortfall in the account leading to charges, or an unexpected expense which gets put on the credit card etc.

    You're a star, as always :) x
