Not here! Fresh veg, lean meat, roasties etc? Large portions maybe but definitely not stodgy ;)

    What a waste!

Roasties, roast parsnips, loads of stuffing, rich gravy, pigs in blankets, if you can't go carb mad at Christmas when can you?

Turkey is lean :) Stuffing and gravy yes but I don't like parsnips and (everyone is always shocked at this) - I don't like roast potatoes :o

I can well imagine how awkward that must have been when someone starts acting strangely at a large event, and sympathise with the urge to say a flippant remark to lighten the mood which you later regret. I don't think you sound rude at all, just a bit.. tactless which you admit, there wasn't any malice in what you did. AND you apologised.

I think you've learn however that its probably best you let your BIL have his space and that he'll probably be better company if that doesn't feel "threatened" by having people all over his nice clean house. Next year/occasion perhaps stay in a local hotel and only go for dinner, or go to your sisters for dinner, or invite them to stay with you. It probably just all got to much for him and he flipped a bit, I;ve done that too, and probably knew your comment had elements of truth which is why it upset him. Try and forget about it, it will fade over time and there isn't anything you can do to change what happened now.

(I LOVE a good yule log, I made one with some Lindor chocolate that was looovely)

 :rotfl: I would say that roast potatoes are my favourite. When I had the novo virus over a year ago, roasties were all I could stomach for days. I did at one point wonder if I would ever be able to eat other foods ever again! :rotfl:

I imagine the sister was only 'trapped' in the kitchen because she was the wrong side of the gravy and he didn't want it trodden into the rest of the house.

Unbelievable fuss about [STRIKE]a yule log[/STRIKE] nothing.
