I've got 2, one I bought most recently which is slightly on the snug side but fits - it's Regatta waterproof with fleece lining.

The other coat is 2 sizes too big for me, work style coat. I'd like to replace it but I cannot afford a new one and I doubt charity shops would have my size

I've got a 3/4 length Dark Purple woollen coat and 3/4 length Camel Jacket - both bought this year in a sale in my catalogue. I hadn't had a proper 'woollen-type coat' for many years - so quite proud of these.

Regular every-day wear is my Blue/Navy Waterproof Jacket with internal Fleece which I've been wearing for around 18mths.

Have bought another new Lilac Waterproof Jacket (also in catalogue sale) for our holiday to Scotland later this year.

Still can't quite get my head around the expense of having to buy so many new coats - but I've lost 7stone in 2 1/2yrs, so they were desperately needed :j.

Well I don't class fleeces and gilets coats.

    Long black faux fur one.
    Long black suede one.
    Sheepskin one.
    Knee length black leather one.
    Leather bike jacket.
    Short brown jacket.
    Pink down ski jacket.
    Red leather biker style .
Knee length parker style denim lightweight summer one.
    Green parker.
    Grey and black parker.
    Knee length black knitted type.
    Short black military type.

And if I wasn't on a no buy clothes for 6 months I probably would have got another in the sales.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Me neither. Nor do I count formal suit-type jackets.

Funnily enough, I was having a similar conversation with SIL last week. We were saying it's good to have a range for all occasions whereas we know people who buy new every season (often cheap tat) and then replace.

I sent two off to the CS only last week, so that leaves:
    • long black wool hooded coat
    • short black coat
    • black velvet coat
    • long camel belted coat
    • purple velvet coat
    • navy duffel coat
    • short purple Puffa jacket
    • navy Puffa parka
    • long hooded, waterproof mac
    • waterproof jacket (Helly Hanson that can be folded up)
  • In that case I don't have any coats, just 3 jackets (a cropped denim one, a leather biker jacket and a dark blue military looking one), a woollen poncho/wrap type thing and a lot of cardigans!

I get too hot in a coat and feel restricted, I'd rather be cold than too hot.

:o A waterproof Goret-tex shell, a Goretex ski jacket, two 3/4 length cloth coats, one unlined and one warmer and a tatty old anorak for gardening in. Plus a luxurious full-length black wool dressy coat which comes out on special occasions.

I could probably lose one of the 3/4 length coats.

After my mother died, the local charity shops did very well on her coats, about a dozen , I recall.

I have two proper coats, one ancient grey one, which I love, and a posh black one - an amazing sale bargain.

Two good anoraks for foul weather, second one bought when first zip became a bit dodgy and was a TKMax super buy at £13!

I have a light mac and a smart mac, which rarely gets worn and will be 15 years old at Easter.

Oh-oh! Nearly forgot my lovely Marks Duvet coat, bought 4 years ago on offer and with vouchers. I'll need it when we go to New Jersey at end of month.

Go on, confess! I began to wonder about my coat-collecting habit when I started my New Year decluttering at the same time as finding a lovely Laura Ashley coat in the charity shop and bringing it home as it was 'exactly what I needed.'

So, for the record, in the coat cupboard there is -

A short navy Laura Ashley coat, perfect with jeans
    A hooded rainy day mac
A very long, very formal black coat for winter days and funerals
A short, belted mac given to me by a friend and pinched on an occasional basis by DD
    A fleece
A gardening coat with a million useful pockets
Another gardening coat, which was my old waterproof
A waterproof jacket for walking (which doesn't happen very often)
A furry gilet that I used when I was studying to keep warm in a cold house
    A black going out jacket

I think about three of these could go but I just can't make myself do it. I certainly can't justify spending any more on coats. I feel faintly ashamed.

Anyone else with a similar problem?

A short belted wool jacket (not 3/4) good for trousers and jeans
    A 3/4 black wool coat
    A 3/4 camel wool coat
    A parka type 3/4 coat....for the cold
A full length black wool coat
    A Berghaus waterproof jacket
    A Regatta showerproof jacket
    about 4 fleece jackets

Now if you were to ask me about shoes.......
