How Many Coats Do You Have?

  • In terms of actual coats (ie anything longer than waist length), I have two - a bright red Miss Selfridge 60s-style coat that's fitted to the waist and then has a flared skirt, and an electric blue New Look trench coat. The red one is my autumn/winter coat and then the blue one is for spring or warmer autumn days. I do need to put new buttons on the blue one though!

    I also have four jackets:
    - Navy Uniqlo blazer
    - Grey pinstripe blazer
    - Black 'leather' Topshop jacket
    - Topshop varsity jacket (like the kind the football players wear in American high school films)

Finally, I have a red Mac In A Sack as well, but that generally only gets brought out once a year when we go to Cornwall and there is a risk of sudden downpours! I'm debating getting a coat with a hood as my next coat though, just to save having to faff with umbrellas if we have another wet year.

I've got loads of coats, from a black formal long woolen coat to a denim jacket. At the moment I'm wearing my 3-in-1 all the time, as it's warm, waterproof and has a hood :)

I'd be interested to know if there is any correlation between the number of coats people have, and their method of transport. My mum is always telling me she can't understand why I have so many coats, she only has a long fleece, blah blah, and then I point out that she doesn't go anywhere unless she can drive there so she doesn't actually need a coat at all! I walk/cycle or get the bus, so I am outside in the cold and rain a lot of the time.

I wear a uniform to work (and I drive) but I walk a lot with the dog, so I have a large proportion of warm and waterproof coats. When I go shopping (as rarely as possible) I wear whichever coat is clean :D

One. M&S plain black Wool (?) coat, bought from a charity shop about 5 years ago for about £5. It's too long, as I really need a petite fit.... but it's a coat and I have it so it'll do.

    Too many!

Long French Connection Cashmere coat in camel
Short Planet cashmere coat in red
Alice Temperley for Barbour lambs leather/ waxed cotton jacket - I wear this nearly everyday, I love it.
Dark green Massimo Dutti leather jacket
Grey Massimo Dutti cropped leather jacket
    Hooded Superdry Gilet
    Joules Gilet
    Quilted Barbour
    3 denim jackets.

I think that's it off the top of my head?

  • One black parka, and a few hoodies.

No need for anything else...I hate coats, always have. I'd rather layer up under a hoodie.

    I have a fair few (:o) & I drive everywhere.
I do have more jackets than coats though, because of driving.
I have a mania for shoes & boots and I can drive in any heel:D
