Another coat hoarder here... I can't help it, if I see a coat for a few quid I think - wow that would have cost loads new!
We have 12 coat hooks and they are bulging out into the hallway!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I bought a new coat today! So now I have 3. It's like furry round the neck and has a cord I can pull in to show that I'm not just a frump! Haha, love it. £10 from PDSA
It's been in for a wash and is drying. It's so lightweight, I couldn't believe it when I tried it on in the shop! Bargain.

Wow! Thank you all. Quite a thread of contrasts here with some people clocking in at a respectable two or three and the rest ... Of which I am one. I do believe that having a nice coat can cover a multitude of sartorial sins but I think I need to have a stern talk to myself and share out the coat mountain a little.
It's also a sign of reaching a certain age, I think. Now I don't have to worry about fashion (not sure I ever did really) I can have a more classic wardrobe that lasts a little longer. I find I'm still buying coats and other clothes at the same rate but keeping them. Perhaps the MSE way would be to stop now. There is also the question of trust - will I be able to find a nice coat when this one wears out or should I go back to the charity shop and get the one I've seen there? You can tell I came from a family of hoarders!
Thanks for all the confessions. I hope it's therapeutic!0 -

I have three I think, I have a really warm turquoise one, a black one which is nice, but has no hood so I don't wear it when its raining (I hate umbrellas), and a black trench coat which has been in the wardrobe for ages (years) and I have never worn. My sis gave it me (its designer, like all her stuff and fits me perfectly), BUT - its thin so doesn't keep out the cold and its so well fitting I couldn't wear too much underneath. She told me it wasn't waterproof - so wearing it in the rain is out, not sure when it would be appropriate - so it just hangs in wardrobe,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,bu99er it - its going to the charity shop!0

I'm another with "outerwear" for every occasion - at least 40 coats and jackets; macs and shawls extra. Enough to fill two double wardrobes
I can't bear to part with a single one of them. I justify having nice coats, shoes and handbags as these are things that will always be seen when you're out and about, and it pays to look smart not a scruff.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
