Seemingly so. Maybe the reason they couldn't do it until the morning is that they only employ someone part time to count up the previous days tills.

Frankly I avoid those bloody self service tills like the plague.
Every time I seem to use them they either need authorisation or they don't register items placed in the bagging area etc.
It annoys me that they often need 2 staff at my local tescos to cover the 8 self service tills area when simply opening 2 more proper tills would cope with demand.

Just another way to get the customer to pay for their own custom IMHO, what next? Pay to enter the damn shop?
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.

I feel very annoyed at being classed as a liar

You've decided to class yourself as a liar. Your choice of words calling yourself a liar so how's that the staffs fault?

Just an update to say that ive written a letter of complaint to them and wont be going there again. There is obviously something wrong with their technology . I dont know anything abouyt whether they have a cash office and am extremely annoyed about being told to come back the next day. Sometimes i use supermarkets to buy something to get change for transport. What if i had done this on this occassion and then had no money to get home ???

I've had problems like this once or twice with a self-service till at the local big Sainsburys. Each time it was sorted out in the same way as the OP describes and I've never been made to feel like a thief. I'd be willing to bet that the Morrisons staff were reasonable about the situation until the OP started ranting at them...

Think of the children! Won't somebody please think of the children!

Hold on, you said what if you had no money to get home - but your story ended with "they cancelled the transaction and the £10 came back out", so you got your £10 note back.

It's not the supermarket's fault if your money is dirty, crunched up, or (not saying it is true in this case) forged. The machine will attempt to identify the note and process it. In this case you got your money back, you had your change, and you were able to go home.
I suspect the supermarket is glad you won't be shopping there again if this is your reaction and attitude!
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Yes, it's absolutely OK for a supermarket to do whatever they want to their customers, and the customers should just accept it.
