Hi all
Love reading this thread, almost as good as going to the sale. I've been to Merry Hill for the first time this year, usually go to Worcester, but Merry Hill seemed to have better stock left when i checked earlier in the week. Think i might stick to Worcester in future as Merry Hill was chaos. Tbf i did manage to get quite a few things i wanted and enough for upcoming birthdays. Disappointed that i didnt get any toys for DS tho. I thought the Merry Hill store wasnt signed very well. I saw people with trollies stuffed with toys, but when i asked the sales assistant she said only the toys in the main section were reduced, so either people had a shock at the till or she told me the wrong thing.
I got a few bits in the online sale too due to be picked up tomorrow, but found i had the same problems online as many others have mentioned on here. I checked out about 5.30 and didn't get alot of the stuff that 'had been added to my basket'.
My best bargains were found on shelves where people had dumped stuff after sorting. Found a mens joules set, mens ted baker and soap and glory bits this way.
Roll on next year

I did not see any s&g, fcuk or ted baker set left by the time I got there. Shame.
Share your opinion about how ridiculous and greedy some people do look . For me I will be more ashamed of myself than annoyed if I was caught clearing the shelf. Saying that if you told me what you told the lady I would have just laugh and agreed with you (the American streak in me x)
Glad is all over X
Haha! I was more annoyed with the way she spoke to me to be honest, there were small children nearby who would have heard.
Don't get me wrong I go mad for bargains myself and if I needed ten of something for one reason or another (like it seemed some people did!) I'd be trying my hardest to get it as cheaply as possible too!
I find the best bargains at Metrocentre (not in Boots) late at night generally, if I pop in after work and they are putting stuff out for the next day in say M&S or House of Fraser. And I was thinking of popping to Fenwicks in town later just to see what they have left!!

*speed-queen* wrote: »Hi Guys,
When I get the bus to work it stops at the retail park and then I walk the rest of the way. As I noticed the MSE email this morning I went to the small Boots shop before carrying on!
I got there at 8.10 as normal (it opens at 8), and there were about 10 other people sales shopping. Many of whome had full trollies or in one ladies case 3 baskets (one on each arm and one she was kicking along the floor)
Its a small store but there was 1 isle full of goodies both sides, and then 3 or 4 end stands. I didnt get much only spent £15 (which I used my points for as well)
Actually my best buys were clearance rather than xmas sale -
3 Poppy King for no7 Lipsticks, £2 each.
It was quite amusing seeing the trolly dashers, some with kids in school uniform in tow!
Ooooh which lipsticks were they? I've been lusting after the Power one for a while! x0 -
Well, to group reply to a lot of people re: 'tat' etc. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me it's a great way to stock up some early Xmas presents which people have gratefully received in the past and I have gratefully given as I know they have received the same gift at a fraction of the cost than if i were to buy in December. If it's not for you then that's your opinion, but it has been a real help for me the past couple of years. Went in store at about 10am today before going into work and everyone was actually quite civilised. No rugby scrums or mass bundles and the staff were actually really friendly, none of the evil stares like previous years! Got about £25 worth of things to put away for Christmas at £2-3 per gift set. Great. Well done everyone on your finds28/04/11 - A bad day for shoppers everywhere (Tesco shoppers that is!) RIP DTD :A0

Quite chilled out in Bury (Lancashire) only about ten people at opening time and just a couple of people trying to buy in bulk. Managed to get the free no7 serum over 60's offer too0
-
For those asking why its not adding to your basket? It's because it isnt in stock. Instead of clicking 'add to basket', clink on the actual product and try add it, it then tells you its been discontinued. It's not in stock!0

I gave up on the website so I've just ordered a load of stuff from the body shop sale instead. Half price sale plus 40% off. 9 presents sorted for 27 quid. Wish I could have got hold of the soap and glory hand duo though I wanted that for myself0
