I didn't go to my biggest store, went to the next biggest, which I have always found to be far more civilised, and this morning was no exception. This was the only one I'd checked for stock at the weekend.
I got there just as the doors were opening at 8am, about a dozen people ahead of me, and although there were 3 or 4 couples clearly working in tandem (piling stuff into big bags at the end of the aisles), the shelves weren't being cleared by the armful, and I got everything I wanted, printed off my acm vouchers, and had paid, all within 15 minutes. I had a £5 off £30 spend tillspit, so made sure my pressies (from my list and a couple of bits for me lol) came to just over £30 - that way, although its 70% off, I actually got just over 75% off.
Glad I went to this store this year - as I popped into my usual 2 small stores afterwards and one of them had no sale items at all, the other only had White Stuff hand duo that I wanted. I didn't even bother with the bigger stores in town last year, so things have obviously changed for the smaller stores this time round.
For the first time ever I made an online order too - checked out first time with paypal successfully when I woke up just before 7am, and had my confirmation email by 9am.
I've had a successful Bootsing morning - lovely!0 -
Not so bad as some years:D all the big boxes were swept away by asian ladies as fast as one could walk towards them:eek: no interest in the little ones just the biggest ones, ebay?
I got loads of stuff that I wanted, some I had no idea I wanted and lots to put away for xmas, birthdays etc all good, the usual trolley blockage at either end but that's part of it all:D
Does the colour of their skin really matter
If they had been white would have written ' swept away by white ladies' ?0 -
*Jelly_Tots* wrote: ». I still think the real RRP is 66% of the stated RRP (due to 3 for 2), so a 70% off sale is only actually 55% off the real RRP (the pre-xmas 3 for 2 sale price).
Don't forget Points nights, when you can get £12 of points off £50(?)spend plus any other offer coupons you can persuade them to take. That makes the pre-Christmas prices even more competitive. Given that you can also take your time and have the whole range to choose from on Points nights well, the 70% sale isn't quite as good as one might imagine if you're out to get a lot of family presents. Unless you're like me and save up your points over the year just for the sale, it's worth it then.Val.0 -
I do wonder what they do with them all. It hardly seems worth selling on Ebay what with the amount it would cost to post the larger sets? x
The amount the lady had and her entire family were gathering ....there is no way they have that many family members that need/want/will be gifted the large expensive soap and glory sets or sanctuary or the amount of straightners they were buying they must sell them on?? They were not the least interested in the small gift sets...0 -

It was an explanation ....not they were pink or white or yellow or blue, they were factually asian with a very large family and asian has been mentioned before in other posts (where also they took the whole shelves off into their baskets) so calm down dear;)0 -
I would have said the exact same thing to you.
And I seriously doubt you gave that reply while standing in the store shopping in the same sale as she was. Imaginations are great sometimes. :rotfl:
id have said the same as well....less politley ....id actually have gone nuts had someone snapped me while shopping!!....tragic..........Pete Doherty and a tub of nutella nom nom0 -

Yes:D whether you like it or not, asian families have a lot more family members that all went to boots at the same time than another family that had maybe their mum/daughter and grandchild, or a couple of friends, or a husband and wife or a few work mates who had gone before work.... the asian family had organized it that they were only going to go for the large items and had got all their members of their families together in boots at the same time, making them a shopping force, clearing the shelves were effectively and swiftly much more so than a couple of people could ever do....0 -
I had the school run and then a doctors appointment got to my local Boots the Oracle at 10am just got home. Absolutely disgusting behaviour from shoppers, pack of vultures no regards to shoppers with babies and children. People had bags and bags stuffed as another poster mentioned easily over 100 items each. I use to work there and a member of staff said there was a fight when it opened as one woman picked up 8 children tablets, she was only allowed 6 so called her sister to come and meet her. It was actually awful, all for the sake of a bargain but these people were clearly not buying for themselves.
I managed to get a few bits all of which we're being dumped by various shoppers on a shelf, no sanctuary, soap and glory, joules or anything decent left. Loads and loads of slippers though! Will easily be cleared by the end of the day bar the slippers!
To work out the 70% off it's really easy, if something is £16 then you take the first two digits and add a decimal place so £16 would be £1.60 which gives you 10% off then you just times that by 3 which would be £4.80 and that's the 30% your pay!0 -
