Which one - I saw loads of bewildered looking men standing guard over trolleys and bags whilst the women were off scouting for more bargains! I took some photos with my phone for my blog, and a very rude woman asked me 'Why the **** I was taking her photo'... I politely replied that I was a journalist writing a piece on people who'll do anything to save a few quid (I'm not, but her face was a picture).

    Did you get much? xx

I would have said the exact same thing to you.

And I seriously doubt you gave that reply while standing in the store shopping in the same sale as she was. Imaginations are great sometimes. :rotfl:
    :A
  • I did well but that was mostly down to my sister who is staff and got what i wanted before it opened. She chose herself a birthday and xmas present from me and we got my teenage daughter some birthday and xmas gifts.
I popped into my local small store and only a few people waiting. Got a couple of mens sets for sons and hubby. Loads of no7 sets with hand cream in being ignored.
Also did an online shop at 5am just to get myself some slippers and a few presents for my daughters friends. I would of liked to have got some lynx but all gone and website awful, i had to sign in 7 times !
This was first year for me without a toddler, people with pushchairs were blocking aisles.
I agree that its best to park your child safely at the end of an aisle in sight if you have to take them, my little girl enjoyed watching the madness enjoying her raisins last year.
  • Well, managed to get on website at 5 when it activated, stuck some stuff in my basket and finally decided that the only things I wanted were some thick socks- couldn't justify paying del on just those so just closed the window and didn't bother in the end :S

Will be popping into the store in town later just to see if there is anything left- hopefully some of the socks I wanted but not holding my breath....
  • And another year over .. this year I tried to order online whilst waiting in line at my local store. Online was so annoying, it said I had so much in my basket but when I went to pay it was nearly all gone. But then the shutters went up and got myself a double basket trolley and off I went. I was first at the S & G Big Kits - I took one!! That's all I needed.

Everyone did, there seemed to be enough for everyone to get a good deal. I got my £18 S & G set and then 4 x Sanctuary Sets for £6 each, also I thought the Christmas slipper socks for £3 were a great buy. Bought 6 of these for gifts. I did stick to my present list, my husband wanted as many men's smellies, and then I bought the Jamie Oliver bits and pieces for my kitchen.

Still got the excited butterfly feeling and it was a pleasant experience. Only about 10 people waiting at 0750 hours, then after about 5 minutes there seemed to be loads of people, all pleasant and people chatting. So much better than the fights and scrambles at Bluewater.

Guess I should get a life, but that's Christmas 2015 sorted and all packed away. Spent £100 this year, so a little less than last year. Little things please little minds.
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016
  • Well I bought a mango set, a cranberry set and 2 small champneys sets and that will be all the body stuff I will need for the year. TBH Kingston (Surrey) was filled with lots of Boots made-up brands and hair stuff. I couldn't believe the way people had piled up multiples of stuff and yes there were several distressed and screaming kids being smothered by boxes piled up in their buggies. I left and went to TK Maxx instead where I got a pair of Ralph Lauren ankle boots for £26 Result!!!!!
    Use your stuff challenge 50/50
  • oh yeah, i can see the newly listed items on ebay for the remington pearl wand exactly what i expected £25 + P&P sounds a good profit if they got too many to sell

Edinburgh Fort was fine again this year. Arrived at 8.25 and there was a queue of about 30. Took people in front so long to get trolleys that I ended up in front of a lot of them. There were a lot of bigger Sanctuary sets and generally a good selection. A few of the usual rude folk with trolleys but manageable overall. Spent £77 and got lots of smaller sets which we use for dancing teachers etc, gadget tools for stocking fillers and a nice set of Animal headphones. I had to take my daughter who is 4 as nursery isn't until this afternoon. No one pushed or bumped her around and she was delighted to get the wooden spoon craft set for £3.60 and the giant games cracker for next year. Will make the spoons today!

Was very worthwhile going. It's always fascinating watching the folk who spend £300+! We left at 9 and there was still a lot left, unlike previous years.

I was there too at 8.30am, just as the doors opened. It was quite civilised really, wasn't it? I think they'd made an effort to spread it out a bit this year rather than just jam it into the furthest three aisles like last year when it was horrific. Yes a few annoying folk with overflowing trollies but I don't think anyone was going for the x20 of each item thing. I spent my £55 of carefully horded points and got some kitchen bits, enough body butter to sink a battleship (that will be DD happy for a few months then), some of the Gadget items and some sets of nail polish and lip salves to split for party bags. Good haul really and not too unpleasant. Unlike last year, I nearly didn't go today because I remembered how bad it was last year!

It was looking pretty bare by 10am, I did my other shopping and then popped back into Boots to see if anything else had surfaced. Nope. It will be picked clean by mid afternoon, I expect.
    Val.

Not so bad as some years:D all the big boxes were swept away by asian ladies as fast as one could walk towards them:eek: no interest in the little ones just the biggest ones, ebay?

I got loads of stuff that I wanted, some I had no idea I wanted and lots to put away for xmas, birthdays etc all good, the usual trolley blockage at either end but that's part of it all:D

I do wonder what they do with them all. It hardly seems worth selling on Ebay what with the amount it would cost to post the larger sets? x

Managed to get to both norwich stores this morning all very calm and civilised apart from a couple of groups of women in the mall that looked like they were buying toys for every small child in Britain lol. Thankfully as I had been up earlier in the week I knew which isles I wanted and which items so was in and out of both stores all done and every item i wanted all in under an hour. Hope everyone else managed to get a good haul too :)
  • got to Plymouth drakes circus for about 10 mins after it opened and there was a few in there but not too bad hte ones that were there had baskets and bags full of multiples but expect nothing less on sale day! will no doubt see it all on the local selling pages soon.
