Not from what I read - some yuk things can certainly be passed from cats to humans, but not a stomach bug. I also had completely different symptoms to my cat. Humans pass bugs to humans all the time. I know exactly where I picked up my bug.
Thank you for your concern.
Luckily, I had a very mild form or I am fit enough to fight it off quickly. Back to normal today, and just had breakfast - fried egg sandwich, bloomin lush! :rotfl:0 -
LB, I was just thinking what could I have for lunch (been pottering and time has run away with me!), so fried egg sarnie it is then!
So glad you are feeling more human again. :T
More rain here, no surprise...
edit, Boddy love the pic of your cat on your avatar.0 -
Fried egg sarnie in the middle of a Sunday afternoon....another of the great things a Singlie can do without anyone raising an eyebrow :j
It's raining here again, too, but still that's better than snow. Has been such a mild winter so far, albeit wet.
Boddy - you said earlier that you had work done to your kitchen wall. What was that, please? cavity wall insulation?0 -
LB In the past there has been a small add on at far end of the kitchen. This seems to have been jerry built and out side wall quite damp. I think it's just single brick. What the builder has done on the inside is built a framework on. Between wall and frame work is a sheet of insulation. Then inside frame work cavities is other insulation. Then hardboard put on frame. Hope that makes sense.0

Yes, it makes perfect sense, thanks. My own kitchen wall is single brick apparently so can't have cavity wall insulation. Your solution is maybe an option for me lat a later date when the kitchen is pulled out etc. Thanks for the info. :T0 -
Afternoon everyone.
Not very nice weather out there.
I've cleared out one of the big cupboards in the kitchen today. The one that houses all the decorating stuff paint and tools. Some stuff gone into a very handy skip in the street. Other stuff been boxed and put upstairs. I didn't want to leave it till the last minute then get a phone call saying they were coming to do the kitchen.
Been moving a bit money around too as seeing rumours about the HSBC bank.
Have made some quick broth for through the week. Nice to have when I get in from work.
Ninja cat made me laugh this morning. He was lying on his back with his paws on the bedroom radiator. No doubt warming his bits.
Take care everyone.
Is the bank rumour that you can only take a certain amount out at a time? I have found this to always be the case, had same problem with barclays when asked to take a few thousand out in cash about 28yrs ago, and the same problem on and off since then. One thing I did find a bit annoying was being unable to transfer 5k to another bank without ID on me....same said bank didn't require ruddy ID when I put it in....which I was quick to point out.....and yet they let you transfer thousands when buying a house. they seem to please themselves these days.
Or is there some other new rumour??Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Hi Calicocat. I think it's the same rumour about not being able to take out large sums. Bank says it's to do with money laundering, protecting customers. I'm not so sure. I've been reading bits on the Preparing for When the SHTF thread and googling. Just trying not to have my eggs all in one basket.
Just sent the problems today with Lloyd's customers unable to use their debit cards.0 -

No, I think you are right that this is the problem - HSBC have been asking their customers for proof of what they want the money for, and restricting how much can be taken out (but not telling customers how much they can take out).
I can see both sides to be honest. I'm not with HSBC, but when I needed to pay off my mortgage, I did ask my bank to tell me the best way to do this (mainly so I didn't pay a penny more in interest!), and paying my builder, again, I've told my B SOC to hurry up, because I need to pay the builder. Possibly, both these contacts have made my account holders more amenable to large amounts being withdrawn/transferred without problems.
As always with these things, it's the lack of transparency/customer service that grates with these banks.0 -

Yes, I've just been reading that too. Until recently, I rarely carried more than a couple of quid in cash. But now carry a little bit more.
I'd be really embarrassed if my credit card was rejected... and doubt I'd have enough money on me to cover my diesel bill...not sure what would happen if I'd filled my tank and then couldn't pay because of an IT fault...0 -

I read that thread too. Mind you ever since 2007 (?) i've never kept all money in one place , and always kept some cash out in family safe. If I got told by my bank I couldn't have access to my own money as happened in Greece i'd be ruddy furious......internal combustion could well happen....or i'd be like that bloke with the tractor threatening to buldoze the bank.
Cheeky s0ds banks are. They toss you an umbrella when the sun's out, the grab it back the minute it starts to rain.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
