Would 50cc get up hills? Quite steep hills....? I thought I'd have to go for the highest cc to have a bit of oomph!

At least with a helmet, I'd have an excuse for my bad hair days :rotfl:

Stop messing about and get a Harley.....retirement doesn't mean you lose all street cred in the first year......lol.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • ...and nor does retirement mean you've become "old" in other ways the second the transition happens.

I'm planning on being one of those people who, many years down the line, are found saying "Oh no dear...I don't want to go there...its full of OLD people" (errrr...like I will be by then..:rotfl:).

Note to self time = I don't want to be a "Strolling Bone" (can't get no satisfaction la...la.....satisfaction). Howzabout "getting older with grace and elegance...and some street cred still"?

I have had motorbikes before but many years ago.I think a moped would be ideal for local journeys.

Was reading the thread and something popped into my mind. A few months ago a friend said the trick is not to act like you are an old person/retired. Act young and think young.

And why not - providing you still have the energy. After all Mick Jagger is due to become a GREAT grandfather in April!

I turned 35 last week, DD turns 13 in a few weeks and a friend of mine said we act like our ages should be the other way around :rotfl: I don't feel like I'm in my mid-thirties, I feel like I'm still in my twenties, but maybe that's because I had DD 'young' so spent my 20s feeling like I was 40+ :o

I made my ex feel old when DD said to him on Saturday that she's got plans for my 40th. He said "thats a bit far off yet" (he's a year older than me so he's probably starting to think  at the thought of turning 40 :rotfl:), I said "It's only 5 years away and she turns 18 the same year". He went slightly pale and said "shut up" (but not in a nasty way) :rotfl: It really doesn't bother me any more the whole getting older thing. DD is now old enough to be left for short periods of time home alone, and as she is getting more and more independent I can see more and more 'freedom' for me. :D

5 years ago I was down and feeling awful about turning 30 and being a single parent with no hopes of meeting anyone and no future. Now I've turned a corner and although I'm not actively seeking anyone I can see that I still have plenty of time if I want to meet someone. Having another child of my own might be pushing it judging by my body lately, but step-kids are always an option so to speak. ;) I also now run my own business (only selling a well known make-up brand part-time) but its giving me the confidence to look around at my life and make changes that I want to make and to look at the possibility of a employee job again. This would be a big step for me as my last 'employee' job was back in 1999 since then I've either volunteered while looking for paid work or been self employed :o
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Yep:T... That's my motto...except when I come to claim pensioner concessions on the price of something:D

I tend towards "Do NOT expect creeping decrepitude...or you might get it" and expect exactly the same of myself as younger people around.

  • Aye. I would rather have a car. Feel safer and keep the weather off, as well as being able to carry "stuff"". But a wee hairdryer on wheels looks fun at very little cost. Will have to investigate more....

There are odd buses through my village during the day ,but it would be better to get to Morpeth and get lots of buses from there.

I can picture me tootling along at 15 mph, in the sunshine, wind artistically ruffling my curls.....sound realistic??

What about a Vesp@, much more ladylike and sophisticated and reviews suggest it can get up to 60mph on the moterway - on a calm day ;)
