Maybe being a singlie makes me a little more careful about things that matter to me, sometimes maybe I am overcautious but it's not always a negative trait. Sometimes it turns up some surprises.

Has everyone else had a bit of 'junk mail' from the NHS, delivered by the postman along with their mail? It purports to be about better information delivering better care, and reassures the reader that it's going to help the NHS to make improvements, but when I read it I smelt a rat. On the one hand it promises the reader that their personal and private information will be protected. On the back page it tells you that if you don't want information that identifies you to be shared outside your GP practice you have to opt out.

I Googled it and found this site and this linked, more straightforward site. I've emailed my GP surgery to opt out.

You may have to 'be in it to win it', as Lotto used to remind us, but it seems you also have to 'opt out to get out of it', which is fine if you ever received and read a leaflet in the first place. Information I give my doctor I only share because I believe it to be confidential, I don't fancy my details sitting on a govt. database for all and sundry to peer at. If ATOS are really running the software for this scheme, I have double reason to think Eek

What about a Vesp@, much more ladylike and sophisticated and reviews suggest it can get up to 60mph on the moterway - on a calm day ;)

oooh, I think I'm in luv :). Have bookmarked various Vespa websites for digestion should I get close to not needing/having this job of mine.

    Thanks, Chuck!

Thank you Charis for pointing out about the NHS "junk mail"

Like most people I read it and put it in the bin thinking it was the same sort of thing as Summary Care.

I read the article and have now printed off a letter to sent to my surgery.

Will also mention it to DD when I see her later this week

CHARIS...........thanks for the links , form downloaded and printed off. I did know about it , haven't as yet had anything from my new surgery , but will just hand one in now.

So much for it being anonymous as they said in the beginning.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Still at it...on the house renovation front...and cuddles wouldn't come amiss at the moment. Right now (as at today) I've had Letdown Syndrome mucking-up the house renovation project.:(

Promised workmen haven't materialised:mad::mad::mad:....not for the first time....:mad::eek:

Whilst I am having a spate of "wish I could just make them appreciate the Realities of Life...ie you DO want to make some income don't you?" then I'm feeling more than a little frustrated.

A.N. Other would help right now in reading the Riot Act to Let Down Merchants.

Well...for right now...I've taken a pragmatic view and "knocked myself out with a glass (or two) of something a bit alcoholic".

Boy...is my "knockout drops bill" going to come down more than a little when I don't have to deal with that Unreliable Workman Syndrome any more (sighs heavily at the fact that I am apparently in a part of the country where its VERY prevalent:().

Can I go and "crown" a couple of workmen please right now...oh pretty purlease.....I'm sure some people will understand just where I'm coming from on that one....:sad::angry::huh::female::naughty::doh::wall::shhh::silenced::think::whistle:_pale_:idea::cry::cool2::cool2::cool2::cool2::cool2:

Okays...that means "I yam not a Happy Bunny right now and wondering just why that happened....".

Do singlies get the Let Down Treatment more than everyone else? Answers on a postcard please....

Seriously gals...do I need to "borrow" a big hefty man to get taken seriously, as in "You make arrangement = you WILL stick to them" or does everyone get this sorta treatment regardless?

    Hugs Money :A

If it makes you feel better (hopefully) it isn't just your neck of the woods that this happens. I happen to know from experience that it is put on their virtual CVs that this is expected of them if they are to be a fully paid up member of the Artisans of the world fraternity.

I don't think its just singlies they do it to either. In a former life, we had this happen when having a whacking big extension put on. We found then that whoever shouts the loudest, gets first dibs at plumber/brickie/sparkie * delete as applicable.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

Right....I'll get the virtual megaphone tuned-up then.....

For right now...I've done the "explain the impact in detail" thing in a hope to forestall any future Let Down Merchant Syndrome tactics...

Wonders if I should do the "Do you know JUST how much disruption you are causing to My Life?" lecture...(coupled with previous hints of "You DO realise that People I Am Meeting are possible Future Customers..IF you are reliable" comments).

There IS no excuse in this day and age of mobile phones/message-taking on landline/emails....they have just got so many ways of telling us they are about to muck our day up for us....

I think this happens everywhere moneyistooshorttomention.....

My mum has had major problems with the same thing with various workmen, I think they think she is a little old woman and they can do what they want, on occasions I have phoned people for her or turned up to do a bit of glaring and assertive chat. She gets scared though and won't let me do this in case they just waalk away from the job and then has to find someone else.

In my book it's just plain rude.

I hope things get better tomorrow and that you manage to get the point across to them. Very frustrating......and irritating, you have my sympathies and some hugs.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Fwiw money...happens to every one.

My workmen did actually turn up today. Looked at the ground and said maupybe they'd be back next week.

Well, yes, its wet, but........its been raining, we're in sw England in winter. Its not going to be that much different next week. Probably wetter.

Fwiw, anyone reads the riot act here its me not DH.

I'm stroppy, he's not;). If they ge to the point they've angered him it doesn't end well.

    Calico

Back in Home Area and at a younger age I had a man who used to turn up and Look Authoritative at intervals when I had workmen in (ie my father).

That's no longer an option and I tend to get into all sorts of knots trying to work out just how to convey the message "DO take me seriously" when I am a pretty slight little woman heading rapidly towards old age.

I have lost a "bargaining card" I had when employed of "You DO turn up on the day arranged...because I will be back at work the next day and you will find no-one answering the doorbell when you ring it" and can't quite think what else to replace it with...

Maybe I should just get a "business card" printed with all possible contact details on (ie landline/mobile/email address/address) and hand it to them with a smile saying "Now I KNOW you always have at least one way to manage to contact me". Hmm....wouldn't work if my only contact to start with is down to me phoning them up....

All suggestions welcome as to JUST how to make them "stick with it" or, at the very least, contact me at the latest on the previous workday to state they are going to let me down if they're planning on it....

Am I right in cynically suspecting its partly down to the "men think women centre their lives round them, rather than having lives of their own" syndrome or what?......Does this sort of thing happen to men dealing with workmen as well?

I've just Done A Silence on my end of the phone when ringing one of today's Let-Downers (ie "I'm waiting for you to come up with an explanation/apology mate") and he didn't leap into the gap and provide said due explanation/apology.
