Evening all - hope you are all doing ok?
First chance I've had to pop in this week. I was out on Monday night straight from work (til late) and then last night I was so tired I went to bed early...so rock and roll eh :rotfl:
Anyone else had torrential rain showers last couple of days? It's been decidely soggy in my bit of the world...hoping that it drys up next few days
Aww I was expecting a pearl of wisdom there Ellie...
Yeah I was planning on doing it outside on an old shower curtain on the grass...that way if it goes on the grass, it can be mowed awayI was also told a tip by a work colleague to stand the item within a large cardboard box as that will apparently help stop the spray spreading too far

Sorry, my fault. i have inherited my grandmother's talent for making it rain. She would tell her neighbours if she was putting her washing out, so that they wouldn't bother. I had one load in the washer and a finished load in the basket. Started decluttering DS3's room and found enough for two more loads (most probably not worn but back on the floor and smelly).
Skies were clear blue (wet earlier) so started pegging and loading. Dark grey clouds came from every direction followed by the torrent. I was part way through the great bedroom swap so decided it could all stay out for as long as it takes. Brought a few clean cloths in today and hoping I have something to wear to the doctor's in the morning.
I am now installed in my 'new to me' room, nearly back to where I was 35 years ago, when I first moved in. Only had a single bed then and the front bedroom was my living room as the house had been broken into before I bought it and the stone flag floor downstairs had been smashed up. I only used the downstairs front room on very cold days as it had a grate and I would feed pieces from some wooden shutters into it to keep warm.
Still have to sort all DS3's stuff but he is sleeping downstairs at the moment so going to rest before tackling that. looking forward to reclaiming my front room. Sound tips on the spray painting. I still have outlines on the flags at the other house from one of DS3's friends spraying his guitar. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
mothernerd, I recall you said a few days ago that you were ill, and I know you're still recovering from your op.
Could your DS3 not be sorting and moving his own stuff?
I'm making the assumption that he's young and fit?
You shouldn't have to be doing his washing, especially if it only needs done because he left it on the floor!

ellie DS3 moved the wardrobes and the beds and the heavy stuff. I have been moving things slowly for about a week (aiming for 5-10 minutes every hour). The pills made me sleep all one day so I spent most of the night reading and decided to see how far I got moving a little bit each time I went to the toilet. Earlier in the week I did several laundry baskets worth (easier to carry and accommodates a wide variety of stuff) and was very sneaky yesterday.
We both had baths the previous evening and I lined the bath with a piece of plastic and filled it, mainly with my material and craft stuff which is all in neat boxes and baskets. Had cleared all the stuff by last night so floor was clear by this morning. Sneaky part being I knew he would be wanting a bath and couldn't until all the stuff was in its new home.
I told him I would be needing help when I went for my morning yoghurt and he came up straight away. He moved his mattress and I trapped it upright against the filled wardrobes. He brought all the bed drawers through whilst I ate my yoghurt and then came back to move my bed after I had a little rest and did a little more clearing (all my paperwork in a box and pills, medicine, phone etc in a small bag).
Once my bed was made I rested again, then moved the stuff from the bath. I put two small filing cabinets in the space between the bathroom and the new bedroom and stacked things on them and then came round the other side to put them onto my empty shelves (very little lifting and no down to the ground stuff).
I have wanted the swap for a long time. He has much more stuff than I do and keeping the small room straight was impossible. Most of his clothes are costumes which he wears to cosplay events and conventions. I know that once I have them all away in the wardrobes he will not dare move them (he just wears underpants, t-shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans the rest of the time) so it will stay straight.
He is camping out in the front room downstairs atm and it's driving me wild. He alternates between the couch and the single bed down there but has coffee table/ chair by each to hold his laptop/ drawing pad and a million cables trailing everywhere. He is earning more than me atm, so don't want to do anything to hinder that. He can now see that when it is finished (going to rest until I am ready for the next phase) in the large bedroom he will be able to have the bed and a separate working area (why can men not visualise these things when you explain them). I have even said he can have the little sofa upstairs next time one of his friends visits - they can carry it up.
Hopefully I will have my front room how I want it before too long. DS1 is sending my large couch back in a few weeks as he and his gf can now afford to buy something they have chosen. After my operation I mostly lived up here (bed gave more options/ positions to relax in than a chair) but I want to progress to having a day/ night routine with the day downstairs and the night up here. I started but then had a set back and seem to have gone back to being mainly upstairs.
I would also like room to get my large table out (even if the top has to go on top of the single bed) for cutting out and getting my craft business up and running properly, making money even. Being able to have the curtains open would be a mood booster as well. For now I am adjusting to the new layout and the novelty of getting in and out of bed a different way (operated leg first). Another first - on Monday I did all the skirting boards in the bathroom. I had to spray them, sit down for a few minutes and then go back to rub them with cloths but could do the whole lot in one go, rather than a little bit (about 1') at a time. Monday was a free day as due to being awake most of Saturday night and then dozing off, I spent all Sunday thinking it was Monday until I came on here.
Edit something on another thread just reminded me. When DS3 turned me bed on its side he shrieked and leapt across the room, pointing. I had to move a spider (bit like a daddy long legs one, blob body and fine spindle legs) before he could continue. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Weekend again :T and I got finished work early so even better
Not so good was that I managed to trip and fall at work, so have several painful places, luckily very little blood, it wasn't too bad really.
I did that comedy thing of trying to regain my balance...I'm going to stay upright...I'm gong to stay upright...all the time getting nearer to the ground...and then splat :rotfl:
Got home and DSs have been taking the mick out of me, no sympathy at all!
I shall self medicate tonight with a Chinese takeaway and some red wine
Not as self indulgent as it sounds, evening has been planned for a while, spending it with friends. Wouldn't cancel even if I'm aching because it's at my house, and that would spoil it for everyone!
And I'm sure I'll enjoy it once they get here, there will be chips, I luuuuuv chips

Sorry, Ellie, I'm not laughing....honestly I'm not...really not...lau-ghing...
:rotfl:
Sorry!

I'm pretty sure you're laughing LB :rotfl:
I told my DSs that my head hurt, as though my brain had had a right shaking up... and DS2 says "does your brain not fill your head then? do you have space in there as well?"
and the two of them went off discussing who'd look after mother when she becomes *really* old and doddery. :rotfl:
Your afternoon sounds lovely, pottering and the fire on...nice.
Just realised an advantage to being single...my female friends always want to come to my house for "girls night in"...we never go to their houses because there's husbands in the way

Your sons sound very naughty :rotfl:
Yes, it is nice...to be pottering...it's rare for me. I love this time of year, early Autumn...love starting to hibernate.
It would be even nicer with a glass of wine and some chocolate, but I am trying so hard to only indulge on special occasions (which are few and far between).
Ah well...6 weeks to my birthday and 10 til Christmas....but whose counting...;)
I've started a "treat" cupboard ready for Christmas...could be a bad mistake :rotfl:

Good luck with that
Last year I bought a large box of chocolates early and put them in the "present cupboard".
They weren't in there long...they called to me one solitary Saturday night...honestly I could hear them shouting from upstairs
I know my weaknesses, it's better to just not have nice stuff in the house!

Generally that's the way I am too...need to get back to being stricter with myself
On the note of occasions & gifts... I've started on my chrimbo shopping...ordered the first items last weekend and some have started arriving now....I really do enjoy buying and giving presents :T0 -
Quiet in here today....are you all out and doing something fun?
If so, please share so those of us who are not can live vicariously
