    Good Morning :)

I might just have a cheeky few days off work :p Not that I'm pleased about it of course :rotfl:

Bit of good fortune this week as I've managed to win a pair of tickets to a local comedy club in a competition :T I had entered a few weeks ago and totally forgotten about it so was surprised w hen I got the email to tell me the news :D

Hope you are all having good weeks

    BW
  • Hello all :hello:

Been MIA for what seems like ages & haven't had either the time or the inclination to post as life just keeps on throwing those curve balls at me in ever more imaginative & unforeseen ways :(

I won't whinge on as its all too boring. Suffice to say I have been voted the unluckiest person that any of my work colleagues have ever met - in the same day I was rammed in my (already sore) back by a colleague with a metal tray who hadn't seen me stopping at a door to let someone else go through (hello, I'm a size 16 so hardly difficult to spot), then a large plastic tube bizarrely fell off a shelf & hit me on the head just as I was walking by (missing the other 5 people who were with me), then another colleague opened a door into me knocking my very hot cup of tea down me (& yes, I did point out to management that I thought it was a bit dangerous to have a door that opens inwards right next to a coffee machine & maybe it would be better if they changed the way the door was hung but was told that no one had ever had the door opened on them before...)

On the way home I was knocked by a lad on a bike riding on the pavement & I dropped & broke the lunchbox I was carrying. Honestly, I was starting to think there was a conspiracy as how many accidents can happen to one person in a day :rotfl:I didn't cook tea that night, just in case I managed to set fire to myself.

That day kind of sums up how life has been - lots of carp being flung at me, although not as many accidents thankfully. Some carp has been expected, other carp has not. And I am just so, so fed up with having to deal with what is simply too much for any one person (or even a team of dedicated fixers) to deal with.

Moaning again, aren't I? Sorry - had a trip to the cinema planned for today (on my own of course) that I've been looking forward to for weeks.....guess who has a sick child at home to look after instead? The universe has put me firmly back into my place again.

Hoping all of you are having a better time than me, & will try & catch up with all your news.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

:hello: JKS - lovely to see you.

Gosh you do seem to have some rotten luck don't you? Sending you some positive vibes :)

Sorry to hear you have a poorly child - hope nothing too horrible. Could you reschedule the cinema trip for another day?

Thanks BW - need all the positive vibes I can get this month :D & I think you've hit the nail on the head (not my head I hope) about my luck.

Poorly child isn't too dreadful, so hopefully I'll be able to go to work tomorrow even if she has to stay home. We're so short staffed I can't not go in, but I'm only a few minutes sprint away if she feels really bad.

But I am going to be out of pocket from her being ill it seems. Yesterday I made an appointment for her at the dentist for tomorrow (I was really pleased they could fit her in) but I rang today to say she was ill & probably couldn't make it - so they're going to charge me for a missed appointment  Really tempted to send her anyway & tell her to make sure she infects the lot of them :rotfl: Honestly, I was more worried about her infecting them & assumed they'd agree & just reschedule - but no.

Same child also caused chaos last night - she didn't get an email to tell her not to go to a new youth group in one place as it had changed venues. She also didn't take the spare mobile (as it isn't a cool iPhone  & her SIM is broken) so I couldn't ring her. As I don't drive her dad had to drive to the city the club was in & try & find her, then take her to the correct venue (& wait to bring her back as public transport is so dire). While he was expecting to pick up, he wasn't expecting to have to go looking, & when she wasn't at the first venue he had to trawl the streets, eventually finding her.

While he was doing this his current wife had to look after their son (which ex should have been doing) so she missed going out. I was also supposed to be going out for the first time in ages, but couldn't in case DD phoned the landline, & by the time I knew all was well it was too late to go. Luckily my friend is understanding, but we'd both been looking forward to meeting up :(. Just relieved she didn't have to pay for a babysitter, or I'd have been out of pocket there too, since it was my suggestion we go out.

Its just the kind of thing that happens regularly in my life - no matter how well I try & plan things & cover the bases (told DD to check email before leaving, charged up the spare mobile & left it by the front door) it all seems to go pear shaped :rotfl:

As for the film - today was the last day. Tried to see it last week but I was waiting in for a boiler service man who didn't turn up (why would he? I'd only got the appointment confirmed by text from his darn mobile, but he forgot & didn't answer said mobile when I rang him ). Suppose I'll wait till its out on DVD & not see it them too :)

Bet you're all really glad I'm back :rotfl:
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Another one who has been MIA. This is in part due to life getting in the way, volunteering at the charity shop and spending a lot of time with mum - she feels very overwhelmed by everything and I have been helping her sort things out whilst she has the house decorated.

I came home the other weekend with one of my dad's rugby shirts - he hardly wore it but now it is mine.

Anyway I have some good news at long last - I was called yesterday afternoon by a certain employee owned store who told me that they were going to offer me a temporary Christmas job but now had a permanent vacancy and was I interested. Well I said yes and I start with an all day training session on Saturday. I will be working for 27.5hrs per week from Sunday to Wednesday although next week I will be training on most days and getting ready for the store opening on 24 September.

It is about time I had some good luck - I can't remember if I said that I was now totally blind in my left eye (again this has caused me to feel a bit overwhelmed and scared) - I will be getting a long cane soon as I had some refresher training yesterday and I feel a lot more confident walking around - I actually walk upright instead of being hunched over looking at the ground. I will not need to use the cane in work.

Hope all is well with everyone - must fly as I need to be up early in the morning to go shopping with mum - I need some black trousers, some plain black shoes, a white blouse or two and a small padlock for my locker.

I have just had a mad idea tonight, its a weird one how it came about, as most people know, my parents lost their 1st daughter with cancer, she was only 18 mths old, and this month she would have been 48. Its weird as I was born 2 years and 2 days from when my sister passed away, Miss Hoodie was born 35 yrs and 2 days from my sisters birthday.

So I am setting myself a challenge to do 50 things for charity, by September 2017 (her 50th).
    Thinking...
Cancer - she passed away with cancer
Dogs - She loved my grandparents dog, and the dog my parents had, I got to spend 8 years with him.
Baby/Child - She was diagnosed as a baby with cancer

Its not going to be great feats like climbing everest/ raising 10k, more on a personal level, whether taking bag of items to charity shop, knitting blanket for dog, giving towels, bedding to dogs home.

In planning mode at mo, doing palm reading at swishing event, for kids mobility charity, crochet 10 blankets for charity - for babies that are born sleeping..., next charity shop trip, drop off a bag at hospice shop.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

My mother didn't really let me cook...she said she learned by watching, so I had to watch!

Didn't help much when I got married and my first home, made a lot of stupid mistakes. Mostly though, I think it should be about costing food and cooking it, because that can come as a shock!

I taught my daughter from a young age, she made mistakes but that's how you learn, although being autistic that didn't always apply. She's a pretty good cook if supervised with weight, measures and timing.

I come from a long line of non-cookers - my Nan used to make meat & 2 veg dinners every day, but always put everything on to cook at the same time, so you can imagine what the veg tasted like :rotfl:

My mother (her daughter) was always accused of having her head in the clouds & wasn't allowed to cook a single thing. Think when she married my Dad he cooked one pot curries or they ate things on toast. When he left (when I was 8) I took over a lot of the household stuff as mother was either working or painting (she's an artist) so I taught myself - difficult as we didn't have cook books in the house & the library was miles away, so it was mostly trial & tonnes of error. I'm sure feeling forced to do all the domestic stuff from such a young age has not helped my hatred of cooking :D

I also did all the vacuuming & had to was my own clothes in the bath, & I did a lot of the top up shopping too, along with Ma's fag run. Nobody batted an eyelid selling me fags at 8

    Hi 3forholidays

Hope the trousers fit. I also dislike trying things on it changing rooms. In fact I'm just not keen on clothes shopping at all - it always makes me feel so depressed :(

I'm with you there - never try anything on in the shop as its too depressing :(. Most of my clothes come from CS now, so I don't feel too bad if it doesn't fit, & I have more than enough clothes to last me for years. I did manage to sort through most of them in the loft - have got rid of a few that I know I won't ever wear again, & the rest are now grouped together, ready for going through in the spring or when I lose weight.

Hope all have a good day :)
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    Hi everyone

Very quiet on here at the moment. Is real life keeping everyone busy?

Frightening to think that we are almost in October - the months have flown by! :)

The trousers are going back to the shop as I've had another look at them and find that they are too big!!

    Good afternoon all :)

I've been awol this week since getting back from my few days break as work has been bonkers. Early starts and long busy days meant that I was only fit to eat and veg with tv for an hour before crashing out in bed... before repeating again. It was all I could do to manage that. I'm hoping this week will be better!

I made up for it Friday night by heading out for a few drinks.. and may have had a few too many :o... spent most of yesterday feeling pretty delicate. Think I'd know better at my age :rotfl: Though it was a good night and a lot of fun was had by all :p

So today has been busy catching up on all the house jobs that didn't get done in the week or yesterday. I'm glad the weather is so lovely as that has helped.

I've also been out for an eye test ... bit naughty as I hadn't been for 3 years... (thanks to whoever it was on here that reminded me I needed one) but all good and my prescription hasn't changed so no need for new glasses either :T

    BW

ETA - can't recall who but someone mentioned on here a while ago losing glasses - did they ever turn up?
