I am well. I 'unstuck' the kink in my shoulder blades and made a start on cleaning the kitchen. As I was still worried about money, I diverted to cooking/ making up meals from what I had - I will have to spend money at some point, but thought just getting through to weekend would be a result.

I made up two plate salads from the scraps in the fridge (lots of beetroot, down to 4 strips of yellow pepper in each), made 2 ham sandwiches (frozen) and have 5 packets of ham (frozen) each sufficient for a salad/sandwich when I have more ingredients. I made cheese sauce and cooked a large pan of pasta. I made up 2 cauli cheeses (with a small ys cauli lurking at the back of the fridge, helped out with the remaining mushrooms and pasta) and froze 2 additional portions of cheese sauce.

I cooked 5 smallish chicken breast fillets (less than half the packet) and have four portions of pasta and chicken with tomato sauce (finely chopped up remains of 2 celery ends), four portions of chilli (chicken chopped small and mixed veg as it was all that was left) and 3 portions of broccoli and butterbean curry. I also have celery sticks and hm dip for snacking, 6 hard boiled eggs, pasta salad, bean salad and hm salad dressing and triple mix of carrot cake which is now frozen (6 boxes with six pieces in each).

I awarded myself 24 use up points and made many trips to the recycling bin as I finished off fresh and frozen veg, many tins, nearly everything in the fridge (cleaned it out before restocking with the made salads) down to the tiny pots of garlic and herb dressing from DS3's takeaway pizzas and a scraping of mango chutney. Have plans for more baking but out of sultanas (three empty dry goods tins), ginger and tinned toms and kidney beans. Also my back was aching (actually forgot the time as was so engrossed, but suffered when I stopped at 8pm).

Decided to have a real go at the house starting this weekend. I had it organised when I was confined to bed. Two to three months ago I started to re-organise now that I can use cupboards below the waist but this has not worked properly. In some cases I have cut back too much - when something comes out or drops, everything explodes. I also want to start tackling the bits that haven't been cleaned properly in months like large areas of mopping (did the attic at the up for sale house and couldn't do more). So I don't expect to get it all done but I will make a start and keep plugging away at it. Also want to go to the other house and cut the remaining lavender (5 bunches brought here, hanging up to dry, cut another last week but need the rest done now - will leave a little for the bees, they love it).

Lots of things I can't do anything about, but this I can do.

  • Sounds like you are doing well with the making things s-t-r-e-t-c-h as far as possible :T

I'm joining you as I had an unexpected bill (on top of the budgeted expense for decoration and a new stair carpet) for nearly £600 yesterday, so I'm still reeling, and am planning a further few weeks of "store cupboard surprise" meals to keep me ticking over. As for the heating...that won't be allowed until November earliest ;)

I'm away next week, staying with a friend, so we will have to be even more frugal than even we had planned to be. Luckily, most of my friends these days are the thrifty sort, so understand my predicament.

The good news though is that by being MSE and OS MSE at that, I have the money to pay the bill, and will also get by. :A

As long as nothing else crops up, of course....

Have a lovely weekend, all. Catch you all later

    LB xx

    Afternoon everyone :)

I was up and out early today to get some errands completed. Now back home and just sitting down with a :coffee: now before I start the next task. The weather was nice earlier but looks to be threatening rain.... so I'm pleased I've managed to get my bits and pieces done whilst it has been dry.

What are you up to today?

    Morning!

No major plans for today - usual house pottering followed by some chill time later on

Have a lovely sunday whatever you are up to :)
  • Morning everyone!

Going to try on a pair of trousers that I bought yesterday - hopefully they'll fit! I hate trying clothes on in shop changing rooms.

Have a great Sunday everybody. :)

    Hi 3forholidays

Hope the trousers fit. I also dislike trying things on it changing rooms. In fact I'm just not keen on clothes shopping at all - it always makes me feel so depressed :(
  • I'm keeping the trousers. They are about 3 inches too long so will need to be shortened. I'm only a size 6-8 on the bottom and 5ft 2in so struggle to find trousers to fit perfectly as some shops do size 6's but don't have a petite section. Sometimes I find the petite clothes are cut too neat as I'm a curvy size 6 on the bottom with a bum! :D

Size 6 3forholidays, oh you lucky thing :D

I'm another one who hates trying on clothes in shops, I buy most of my clothes online so I can try them on in my bedroom (and then send half of them back :o)

I'm aching all over but have that nice satisfied feeling from finishing a job I really (really!) didn't want to do...I've painted the kitchen ceiling and walls. Definitely a case of eating a great big frog, I had to force myself to get on with it this morning.
First time I've watered down the paint like my decorator friend tells me I should, worked okay.

So looking forward to a hot bath to wash all the paint off...but have an energetic dog here wanting to play ball. I hope DS picks her up soon!
