been a quiet week at home, had DD off since Tuesday with a viral infection and infection on her chest, knocked her for 6, felt worst as it was her 13th Bday, she couldnt celebrate properly.
Otherwise plodding along, my to do list getting longer but no jobs getting done, think my mojo gone somewhere xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I went for my flu vaccination on Thursday but was declared too ill and have to take antibiotics for a week to get well enough for the injection. I meant to push on with the room change today (wardrobes were moved before all our gusts went home last weekend) but have dozed for most of it.
Set myself a very small list yesterday (mostly paper based) and did quite well. Do feel better for all the rest but also want to get on. Baby steps, baby steps. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, the nip of Autumn cannot be ignored - went to the post box at 6am yesterday and it was foggy.
Editing to add - sat in bed yesterday eating pickled onions and drinking the juice (have found it helpful in the past with a sore throat). Pleasures only singlies can enjoy (presumably). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Hope all the sickly people feel better soon.
What a shame for your DD mum2one, on her birthday, she'll have to postpone the celebrations.
What do you want to spray paint Bookworm?
I'm really bad at using the oven just for one or two things, although I'll use the small top oven if I can. Tonight I put it on just for half a pizzamothernerd wrote: »

Yeah mothernerd that's probably a pleasure best enjoyed alone :rotfl:
I bet we all do things best not shared...tonight I've eaten half a pizza and a plate of trifle (can you tell I've no-one else to feed?) and I'm channel hopping on the TV in a really annoying way.
Also read in the middle of the night, and leave the light on.

Good afternoon all
I've been awol this week since getting back from my few days break as work has been bonkers. Early starts and long busy days meant that I was only fit to eat and veg with tv for an hour before crashing out in bed... before repeating again. It was all I could do to manage that. I'm hoping this week will be better!
I made up for it Friday night by heading out for a few drinks.. and may have had a few too many... spent most of yesterday feeling pretty delicate. Think I'd know better at my age :rotfl: Though it was a good night and a lot of fun was had by all
So today has been busy catching up on all the house jobs that didn't get done in the week or yesterday. I'm glad the weather is so lovely as that has helped.
I've also been out for an eye test ... bit naughty as I hadn't been for 3 years... (thanks to whoever it was on here that reminded me I needed one) but all good and my prescription hasn't changed so no need for new glasses either :T
BW
ETA - can't recall who but someone mentioned on here a while ago losing glasses - did they ever turn up?
I don't know that we ever get to the age that we know better BW
I lost my expensive sunnies some months ago & they still haven't turned up  I have cleaned the house in the months, so I think they really are lost for good.Mr_Singleton wrote: »Thanks dND.... Was thinking more along the lines of doing multiple things in the oven at the same time something that my grandmother always used to do.
Wonder if there is a resource that would advise on good combinations. I sometimes put jacket potato's in the oven when baking bread for example.
I try & batch cook every so often, but usually just do a few different pots of the same stuff for the freezer, such as baked bean lasagne so I know I don't have to faff about with timings. I've finally got my main oven fixed (was just the element so it wasn't too expensive & I also got the fuse fixed on the extractor & new bulbs put in so I've no excuse for not cooking :rotfl:). Of course I now have to find a home for all the stuff I'd been storing in the non-working oven for the last year - you can fit a lot into an oven
I still have the small counter top oven that I use for small stuff, but that seems to take a lot longer to cook things than it did last year, so it may be about to die. It was good while it lasted, but it is nice to be able to cook those chicken-in-a-bag-with-spices thingys as the bags were always too tall for the little oven.mothernerd wrote: »...Editing to add - sat in bed yesterday eating pickled onions and drinking the juice (have found it helpful in the past with a sore throat). On a related singlies only treatment for colds/sore throats I find a couple of slightly squashed garlic cloves soaked in orange juice for at least 15 minutes effective. You can either just drink the juice, but I go for the whole hog & eat the garlic too. Wonder why I'm still single :rotfl:
All is relatively quiet here - no bizarre accidents to report, & domestic life seems calm as I'm spending more time planning menus rather than just despairingly looking into the fridge for inspiration. Also using my slow cooker more, although its all a bit hit & miss with some recipes I can see the light now. Still hate anything kitchen related though
BW - hope you feel better soon, have a hot toddy & see if it helps. Also sorry to your your DD was ill over he birthday Mum2one - that's so unfair.
Anyone else enjoying the rugby?& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

I guess eating some strange food combinations when supplies are getting low or need using. I don't mind as would prefer to use them up and no-one to see meJustKeepSwimming wrote: »BW - hope you feel better soon, have a hot toddy & see if it helps.JustKeepSwimming wrote: »On a related singlies only treatment for colds/sore throats I find a couple of slightly squashed garlic cloves soaked in orange juice for at least 15 minutes effective. _pale_ that sounds so gross...so won't be trying that one...sorry.... but then garlic and I are not friends...I find that any amount other than minute makes me feel really yucky and lethargic....weird I know :rotfl:JustKeepSwimming wrote: »Anyone else enjoying the rugby?
Not here.... It's not something I watch...0 -

Interesting! I was just being nosy, I don't have any good tips for spray painting
I'd worry that everything round about would get paint on as well.
Can't believe that's another weekend over already. Think I've overdone it over the last week, my back is complaining very loudly. Sometimes I want to do something so much that I go ahead and do it anyway, even though I know it's going to be too much for my back, a bit stupid but it gets so frustrating not being able to do what I want!
And being single, there's no-one here to see me hobbling about trying to get moving in the morning :rotfl:

JustKeepSwimming - I was gutted when England were knocked out of the rugby but cheered up when I realised how miserable my ex would be about it...0

Evening all - hope you are all doing ok?
First chance I've had to pop in this week. I was out on Monday night straight from work (til late) and then last night I was so tired I went to bed early...so rock and roll eh :rotfl:
Anyone else had torrential rain showers last couple of days? It's been decidely soggy in my bit of the world...hoping that it drys up next few daysInteresting! I was just being nosy, I don't have any good tips for spray painting

Aww I was expecting a pearl of wisdom there Ellie...
Yeah I was planning on doing it outside on an old shower curtain on the grass...that way if it goes on the grass, it can be mowed awayI was also told a tip by a work colleague to stand the item within a large cardboard box as that will apparently help stop the spray spreading too far

Bookworm ah well, gotta look for the silver linings
Weather's been rubbish here too, can't wait for dry frosty autumn days and I can start walking to work instead of driving and paying for parking0
