:hello: Byatt
Well done for not spilling anything when you fell. Hope you haven't hurt yourself either?
I wouldn't know where to start with WTC so can't offer you any advice there
As for why coffee tables are so called...my guess is because they are used to put drinks on... though again why specifically coffee should be cited.. I have no idea!
I'll join you in a :coffee:0 -
hope everyone ok, home safe and sound from Blackpool, we had a brilliant time, it certainly helped the budget by prebooking the venues, we had a few treats, we went out twice for an indian, and eat combo deals, all saved a few pennies.
Glad to be home, as need to reign in the budget for a couple of weeks, the plan next week is some baking, tidying, cleaning so see what happens.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
:hello: mum2one
Welcome back and nice to hear you had a good holiday0 -
...Today I am pleased that I replaced the screen in my son's laptop. All on my own. By myself...you know the kind of thing :rotfl: To be fair it's the first thing he's ever broken, but I'm still pleased that I did it without carting it to PC world or similar and letting them charge me a fortune for it.
:T That's great Cranky - I know I wouldn't have been able to do it, & glad you didn't have to pay a stupid amount to get someone else to do it for you.... a post is just a tiny part of our lives, but it's condensed and thus feels more intense. Well, I don't think I've said that before but something similar.
If I'd posted last night how upset I was with the neighbours last night over something relatively trivial, you'd think I'd lost it.
I can't remember the ages of your children, but is your son at the rebelling age. I won't ask details about your daughter on a public forum, but if you want to talk let me know.
It's really restricting without a car...public transport being pretty bad as well as expensive. Often it's a lifeline. Anything I want to go to socially involves driving. It's understandable why so many older people are frightened of losing their licences.
You're so right about posts Byatt. I'm sure I wouldn't post anywhere near as much rubbish if I had somebody to listen to me at home :rotfl: Apologies all, maybe you should all put me on ignore if I'm droning on too much?
DS is 13 later this month, so defiantly at the age to start rebelling on a grand scale. I don't blame him at all, poor chap has been pretty much ignored for months on end while dealing with DD's needs - he's been fed & watered, nagged to do homework & wash, but I haven't really been able to devote much time to him that hasn't been disturbed by DD. Hoping that when he's at school without DD life may get a bit better for him.
Yep, transport is such an issue. Our town is having some major roadworks that I didn't know about (since I don't drive) & I got horribly caught out in a cab ride back from the supermarket - I had to get out when it came to £20 as I didn't have any more cash, then had to struggle to walk home for 15 minutes with far too much shopping. The cab ride is usually £5 - 6. I thought I'd been so organised in doing my shopping then, but it backfired & sums up how these last few years seem to be to me - doesn't matter how much I try & plan & play by the rules, life continues to throw a curve ball in new, unforeseen ways
.
Or maybe I'm just taking it all too personally :rotfl:Well I started my day by falling over the coffee table whilst holding a cuppa and a bowl of yoghurt. I'm proud to say I didnt drop either, as it appears I can now fall like a cat having spent so much time with them!
Also, in my fun packed morning, I've worked out my WTC for next year...Well I think I have, the computations used addle my brain...I have figures written all over the place and have seriously lost the plot.
I might have another cuppa and try to avoid the coffee table...why are they called coffee tables by the way?
Ah crisps BW...lush.
Hope you're OK Byatt. I guess tea table just doesn't sound right, does it?
I've done a few WTC calculations, but different calculators on websites give different answers, so I've done it the long way round & got a figure that suggests I'll be losing 11.3% of my income. That's quite a chunk to lose & I've no prospect of increasing hours or getting another/additional job - I'm already having to take lots of unpaid leave to cover all of DD's hospital appointments (which can take hours to get to on public transport). TBH I'm half expecting my employer to be having a quiet word with me about it all when I go back in September.... I challenge Call Me Dave to explain how my large income drop is making work pay for me. It quite clearly isn't.
On a positive note I have managed to dye my hair dark brown, so the grey stripes have been banishedHave tried to imagine myself with red, blue or purple hair but I can't quite imagine it. Am trying to give myself a kick so I can get on & do some chores, but t'internet is sooo distracting :rotfl:
Have a lovely w/e all :j& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin

:hello: JKS
Sorry to hear about your shopping/taxi trauma. Have you considered doing an online shop? Some of the weekday delivery slots would be less than your taxi fares.0 -
JKS  at the £20 cab fare. Might be worthwhile doing an Internet shop for the duration of the roadworks, although that does depend upon which supermarkets you have in your local area and what their minimum spend criteria is.
mum2one Welcome back. Glad to read that you had a lovely time.
Byatt Were you a circus performer in another life?Well done on dropping anything as it would have been messy! :T
BW Enjoy the 'cracker crisps'. Bacon & Cheese would be my pick from those 2 flavours.
JKS & Byatt That is a lot of income to lose!I might not be safe from the government's benefit cuts - I claim disability benefit but no matter what anyone says my disability isn't going to go away. It's the drug addicts and alcoholics that shouldn't get disability benefits as their conditions are self-inflicted and by giving them additional money they are just being encouraged to keep their addictive behaviour.
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

I never said you posted rubbish...:p:rotfl:
My drama the other night was posted on FB, albeit a private page,:D
Yes I did the WTC the long way round, no good at percentages...but it's around £1000 less a year. As all my income is well below tax allowances, it's a lot. I should get some housing benefit but I had hoped to get off that as it's harder to rent if you are on HB. For reasons unknown to me WTC dont/didnt have the same stigma. Anyway, I'm thinking/rambling out loud again...
Mum2one, glad you enjoyed your hols...0 -
JustKeepSwimming wrote: »Greenbee - isn't the Chrysler building fantastic? I'd love to go in every room & could spend days in there, exploring, if I was allowed to. Have a shockingly indulgent pudding & a large glass of red for me tonight when you're eating out. I'll be having cereal as I have lots of milk to use up & CBA to cook as DD & DS aren't here, so I'll live vicariously through you
I'm now on a seriously delayed train from Connecticut to Boston. I technically have a free day tomorrow, but need to do expenses and prep for Monday's meetings.0 -
Good afternoon
I was being good and getting chores done this morning but now I'm procrastinating.... Anyone wanna slack off with me?0 -
:rotfl: Guess that's a no then.... :rotfl:0
