Jks, I'm affected by the budget too, was so stunned and upset when I realised late on Monday night, I drank my body weight in whisky.

Still shell shocked, not exactly sure how much yet but will be in the region of £1500. I can't even find something funny to say. :o

I don't think a lot of people realise yet just how hard hit they will be.

Thanks for missing my humour guys...:o...:D

I'm sure I had a funny story to tell...Ah, yes...I've been pet sitting and woke up during the night wanting the bathroom...couldn't switch the lamp on, so got out of bed and walked straight into a wall...I thought I was at home, which doesn't have a wall straight in front of me...:rotfl:

Hope you're OK now Byatt, & yes, I did laugh at that one :D

Still not laughing about the budget though :( Don't know if you've been over to the TC forum, but there is quite a lot of discussion about certain calculators not being correct, so I'm not sure exactly how much I'll lose yet (& I don't really want to think about it either). There are a lot of people who are very worried, & a lot that don't know what's coming around the corner at them....

LB - TC are a difficult one to solve, aren't they? While I agree with the theory that work should pay, & wages should be high enough so that workers can survive without having to claim top-up benefits, I don't see this ever happening now - not with zero hours contracts & the etc.

I don't have the option of increasing my hours at work, & as I have a long term health condition that puts me at a disadvantage of getting another job (but isn't yet bad enough to classify me as disabled thankfully) I doubt I'll get another job. What I'm probably going to do is try & get another NMW job in the school holidays in a few years when I'm confident I can leave DD & DS alone without them killing each other or trashing the house. But then I know that if I work much more than I do already without any support & still have all the stuff to do with the house & kids, then my health will suffer... Bit of a conundrum really. All made harder as there is only me bringing in any money, & there is a limit to how many hours one person can work.

At least I've learnt a lot from being on MSE over the years, so I expect we'll be able to cope. (Must get menu planning etc sorted. Again). It's not like I have a social life now, so I won't be missing anything there :D

For all you English people who are now on school holidays...:j :j :j

JKS and Byatt, that's a lot of money to lose, I hope you can cope with it. I must admit that I don't really know much about tax credits (I'm assuming it's to do with tax credits) and hadn't realised that the changes would make such a difference.

I'm another one who is very tired, putting it down to lack of sleep, having very disturbed nights at the moment. Felt like I was in a fog at work this morning. Had intended to carry on doing stuff this evening, but can't really be bothered :o

Is it a bad thing that I've discovered a local chippy that also sells chocolate fudge cake and apple pie? That's not normal in my area :rotfl:
On a positive note, I didn't buy any!

I like the sound of your chippy Ellie :rotfl:Ours doesn't do anything exciting like that (thankfully, or I'd look like I'm having triplets).

Have you read any of that book yet?

Hooray for today being the last day of term :T All delighted in this house & I'm so looking forward to a lie in tomorrow morning...

Hope all have a fun weekend.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Afternoon :) Feeling much better after a 12 hour sleep :o:D

The latter half of the week was super busy on the work front and involved lots of travelling. It was lovely to get back to my own bed last night.

I've got another 2 days away next week too but hopefully won't be feeling below par for that

I'm currently having a leisurely breakfast and catching up on what I have missed around here (is it still breakfast when the time could be considered lunchtime? :rotfl:)

How are you feeling today BookWorm, any less blah?

    Hope you're doing OK BW

having lurked on the threads about benefits changes in the budget & trying various calculators I'm going to be at least £1094 worse off - some calculators have said I'll lose even more, but that's too scary to contemplate .

:( sorry to hear that you guys are massively affected by the budget changes. I will keep fingers crossed that the calculators are wrong and that it's not as much as indicated. It's all a bit of a connundrum really isn't it?

Mum2one - sounds like you have some lovely holiday and trips to look forward to :)

LB - hope you are feeling less knackered today too :)

Re: the litter trays. You sound as if you are doing all you can to fit in with the SW [STRIKE]demands[/STRIKE] requirements. While I can understand they are perhaps trying to ensure what they see as a risk free environment as much as possible....it does seem a bit short sighted on their part to expect such things. IMO pets are an expected (as in not surprising for people to have them) part of a home environment and they can add so much to a child's life too

Hopefully YBC will take to it so you can continue with your fostering plans

Have you read any of that book yet?

I'm well into the book JKS, one more sleepless night should finish it :)

No, I'd say you officially missed breakfast BookWorm :D

    Glad you're feeling better.

I'm ashamed to say I'm missing a friends' daughter's wedding today, mostly because it's some distance away from home and not in a convenient travelling spot...it would have meant a long journey home on unfamiliar roads after the reception.

Friend did suggest I ask another couple if I could tag along with them, but I didn't fancy imposing on them (they hadn't offered, after all!)

I feel a bit of a wimp because I would have gone if it had been local, I would have struggled to get a day off work, but I could have juggled things around.

I'm aware that if I'd had a partner to go with it would have been different, the company and shared driving would make all the difference.
Anyway sorry for moaning, I just feel like I've let the singlie side down by not "getting out there" and taking part!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Well said BW :T Glad the cats seem to be doing OK'ish LB, & I hope YBC gets more comfortable with the idea of it all. Honestly, you'd think the authorities would realise how beneficial pets could be to children...

You've not let the single side down Ellie - sometimes it just is too hard/awkward to join in with the others all the time. I wouldn't have wanted to team up with another couple going to a wedding (unless they were really, really good friends) either.

My end of term lurgy has struck very quickly this holiday - slept most of the day away with a high temperature & generally feeling rubbish :(. Hope its just the usual 24 - 48 hour thing that I get every holiday. Better to get it over & done with early in the break than when I've got stuff planned.

Have a good Sunday all :)
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

    Morning peeps

    Ellie
    - you haven't let the side down at all! Like JKS, I can totally understand the way you felt

JKS - Hope you are feeling better today.

I'm just trying to figure out whether the weather is going to hold long enough for me to get my washing out on the line or not. It's only towels so I suppose it doesn't matter too much if they do get caught in any rain

I've got a couple of items for sale on the Bay of E ;) that finish today...I currently have 12 watchers on one of them so hoping there is a bidding frenzy later on!

    Have a super Sunday

    BW :)

My lurgy has continued...small period of time when I thought I was getting better, but now have sore mouth and tongue. Hasn't a stopped me from eating though.:p

    No side let down Ellie...:D

The last wedding I went to, I knew no one...just the bride and groom and for some reason they didn't want to hang out with me at the wedding...can't think why :o. I was on my own, not good with the stranger social side en masse, and it was hell. No one really tried except another singlie (who knew the guests)...for the most part I was left to it. Standing alone turned me invisible. Never mind...:rotfl:
