Hope everyone ok, had fun this week, my holiday in August got cancelled by the tour company, but the forgot to tell me, even the travel agent didn't know, She spent most of Monday sorting it all out, were going 2 days later, and best bit, new price is £400 cheaper..... and we've upgraded to a private taxi transfer, £60 for coach transfer, or £90 for a taxi, as were saving anyhow, we upgraded to a taxi, DD has it on countdown now.
Thou expensive day - dad took his car for MOT, nice bill of £350... but that includes the MOT... got to take him to collect it, mines due Sept, hoping its going to be a nice one this yr, last yr I had brakes and other stuff done on it. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi Mum2one - Glad you can still can go on the holiday even though I'm sure it was a pita sorting it out again. Nice saving too
I hear you on the MOT stuff. I always hold my breath when mine is at the garage until they tell me all is ok. Fingers crossed you get a pass with no extra costs0 -
Well it's Friday again, how did that happen? The weeks are passing by faster than I can get things done.
(Though have to admit I've spent a couple of mornings puppy sitting...it's so time consuming, i'm sure proper baby sitting would be easier!)
Set out for work this morning (in winter boots and a raincoat, hey it's July)and the first song played on the car radio was this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfXjDELeW5M
I love this song, it's so cheerfulI sometimes hum it to myself at work even when I haven't heard it on the radio. So an early morning sing along lifted the spirits on a grey miserable day!
The video took me back about 40 years...you youngsters on here won't remember Morecambe and Wise.
I'm having one of my "wake up in the middle of the night, every night" phases...hope it doesn't last long.
I've not bought any chocolate for 2 weeks, maybe it's caused by "lack of chocolate syndrome" :rotfl:

One of my faves, too, Ellie
The downside of working from home all week is not getting to listen to the radio in the car. The upside is not needing to get into the car :rotfl:
I'm just finishing up work now. Been a spectacularly uneventful week, just hard slog. But it is Friday evening at last.
Nothing interesting happening this weekend, either. I'm obviously going through an uninteresting phase :rotfl:
BIG DIET started again today...Yup, on a Friday, so that tells you how desperate I am to get myself back on an even keel. Holidays are lovely but no good for the healthy eating! And all my good intentions just flew out the window!
Well, best log off and go check the chooks. Enjoy your evenings, All!

Hello - the stranger returns.
Not been about because I have been feeling very anti-social - it has been a hectic few weeks since dad died unexpectedly. He did have a good send off at least and now Mum and myself are trying to support each other which is difficult when we are both so independent.
A week after dad passed away I had to go for a group assessment interview with JLP (the shop that doesnt undersell) - it was difficult but I put my professional face on and was aware of dad's voice in my ear saying Standards, Horace, Standards. The upshot of the group assessment is that I am now waiting for my shifts to be sorted out.:j
Am still at the charity shop and enjoying it - yesterday I was sorting bags and crates of jewellery and today I was sorting out bric a brac.
Trying to sort the house out too - I have been very lax but I have made a start on clearing out this bedroom so that it can be decorated.
I met Nick Knowles too - I took a couple of days off after I received the news about dad, one of my pals took me out to lunch and she took me to see Nick as he and his team had finished working on a local house - at one point there were 200 tradesmen working on it.:eek:0 -

See, that's what happens when you start a BIG DIET on a Friday....
Monday LB, it's got to be a Monday... :rotfl:
Never seen the attraction of fish finger butties, a chip butty on the other hand...

Hugs Horace, do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.
I am trying to improve my diet but I also want to completely empty the freezer and do another kitchen move round and sort out all the things I hid behind the freezer (under the stairs) because I knew I wouldn't need / be able to use them for six months.
I was very busy yesterday as the Estate agent had notified me about a viewing of the large (for sale) house. Cut back shrubs, trimmed long grass with secateurs, potted up geraniums to add colour, swept all the downstairs floors and did as many windows and mirrors (fitted wardrobes in two bedrooms).
Stayed until my legs were starting to wobble (did 6 hours, mainly on the garden, two weeks ago) but much more productive than before - can work for longer with much shorter breaks. Plan to go back this weekend as I have bought an all week bus ticket. When I got in I collapsed on the bed and was asleep within the hour. Finally woke at 9pm (survived all day on previously prepared and frozen sandwiches) and still slept most of the night.
Woke in the middle of the night, so worried and ashamed that I had been so busy I had forgotten to feed the puppy. Took me ages to convince myself that there wasn't a puppy - mine was brown and shiny short-haired like a dachshund but between a small whippet and a staffie in size. I am down to do dog-sitting duties when DS1 gets one again.
I have just received an e-mail from the Estate Agent (sent this afternoon). The woman who viewed the house at 2pm yesterday went back at 5pm with her husband. Please let this be it.
Hope you all have a good weekend, however you choose to spend it.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0
