But there is an inner voice that says "Oh, just get the washing up done now so you don't need to do it later" & before I know it I'm up, doing stuff & not relaxing.

I'm trying to cultivate that inner voice :D
I can be far too lazy and leave things for later, especially the washing up, have to keep telling myself that I'll be happier if it's done.

Hope your cats are more settled today LB.
All your stories are proof that cats think their owners sometimes need a good telling off...and I love that we have a dog with his own winnie the pooh holiday bag :rotfl:

I'm having a "sore back day", probably a reaction to painting yesterday and then finishing clearing the care home room. When I'm a millionaire (:rotfl:) I shall have a room just for painting things in...no more making a space big enough on the living room floor and putting old sheets down and crawling about the floor with a paintbrush. I shall have a washable floor and tables at the correct height, with room to walk all round...or alternatively I could just buy furniture already the colour I want it :rotfl:

I have done a second coat of paint today, as we have ground to a halt trying to make funeral arrangements as we can't get a death certificate. The registrars office told us that their computer system has been down since last Saturday, so no certificate. Apparently this covers the whole of Scotland!

    Hey Lovely Peeps,

feeling pleasantly mellow tonight - of course, that could be the 2 whisky & cokes I've enjoyed ;).

My building work is finished, looking really good :D, and I have my whole house back. It's tidy again, but needs scrubbing from top to bottom to get rid of the plaster dust, so that is this weekend's work.

The joiner is coming to complete his work on Monday, but I have 3 whole days and no workmen in. Oh the bliss of that :rotfl:, even though they are all lovely.

The pusses are much better today, thanks...they are back to being happy and relaxed pusses, thank goodness! I'll still keep an eye on YBC as stress builds inside him until he becomes poorly, but so far so good. He woke me at 4.15 this morning for a huge cuddle :smileyhea. I know that's not for everyone, but I luvs my affectionate pusscats, and have missed them hugely. It seems YBC has missed me, too :iloveyou:

That doesn't sound good about the delay on issuing the death certificate, Ellie but maybe gives you a bit of breathing space.

On the subject of pushing ourselves to do chores etc , I generally have no problem as it makes me feel low to leave things like washing up to build up etc. Also, I feel that as no one else is going to do it for me, then I better had :rotfl:

Parents are very keen to get things moving, and frustrated at yet another delay. We can't meet with solicitor re house sale until we have a certificate (although have been keeping in touch by phone).
Can't say I'm impressed with the service...if someone died last Friday, for example, the funeral could well have been over by now, but instead relatives are stuck waiting for a certificate...not good. It's not really affecting me , but I know if this had happened when my DH died my stress levels would have been through the roof.
Oh well, it'll get sorted eventually.

I'm good at doing washing up when I'm on my own...the soul destroying thing is clearing it all up, and 10 minutes later a kid has made a mess again. There's a certain pleasure in going into the kitchen in the morning and it's just as clean as the night before, but that doesn't happen often in my house!

Deepest condolences on the loss of your aunt Ellie. I'm assuming that if death certificates can't be issued, then they won't be able to issue birth or marriage certificates either.

Will there not be extra costs due to the delays as undertakers will have to keep the deceased for longer than normal? Funerals are expensive enough without additional costs being added!

Absolutely Mum2one! sure I'm not the only one here who would love to see a photo of your dog, complete with his holiday bag, waiting by the front door ready to go....
Eh? What's a grown up??!!

That's you, that is. May not make much sense to anyone who doesn't remember The Mary Whitehouse Experience - I used to laugh so much at their programmes.

Yep, you're not wrong LB, nobody else is going to do them for me either. For me its a toss up between feeling better because the house looks slightly tidier when I do the chores (until a kid comes & messes it all up ) & feeling permanently exhausted as I rarely have any down time (while I'm still awake that is :rotfl:). Don't think there is an answer until my 2 leave home.

I wasn't brave enough to watch Beaches when it was on :D Still got to find the time to watch Humans too.

Hope you had a productive day off LB & you can enjoy some time off just being in your house with the cats without having to do too much.

Ellie - that's rubbish news about the death certificate, & yes, I'm sure I'd be devastated if it happened to one of my nearest & dearest. How awful for those needing to plan funerals. When my Dad died I was issued with a Coroner's Certificate of the Fact of Death which took 17 days to issue, as there had to be an inquest into his death. The inquest didn't take place for almost 5 months, so I had difficulties with a few banks etc. who initially told me they wouldn't be able to deal with his affairs until the proper death certificate was issued  Utter **** of course, but perversely the fact that I had to deal with such idiots helped me deal with Dad's death in the short term. Also got me some compensation for poor service, but it really isn't what you need at such a difficult time. I'd hate anyone else to have to go through what I did at that time.

TGIF - I really don't have the energy to do very much tonight, except sleep. Hope the weekend is better :D.

    Hugs to all :T
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

Seconded :)...and we need to know what he packs in his bag!

    5 months JKS
It seems the whole "dying" thing is set up to be as complicated as possible. We got the death certificate today, so things are getting organized now, but just as parents thought they could do something...they took the certificate to the bank to freeze the account, and were told the bank wouldn't do anything until they had seen the will?! What's that all about? How long has this been a rule? What the f...ing heck do they need that for?
No wonder my parents are fed up trying to sort stuff out.

Is anyone getting warm summer weather?
It's still cold here, my fingers were so cold this morning that I put gloves on! It is June, isn't it?

    Nearly July

I'm still wearing winterish clothes here, though we had a 10 min burst of warm sunshine later this afternoon. It was lush :D

I haven't really scratched the surface of cleaning the house as mostly concentrated on my garden and lottie today as it was dry.

So tomorrow is scrubbers day

Not heard of a bank needing the will...why?? Unless it is to check who is the executor? I'd have said no will....I have to say that I mostly found people in banks etc to be very helpful, though my Mam's own bank needed a kick up the jacksy, and offered me compensation for delays in doing anything constructive.

I, too, found that being assertive and dealing with everything helped my first flush of grief. Completely unexpectedly.

On a lighter note, I've discovered that my bedroom TV has switched to analogue, and I can't switch channels. WHY??!! I have to come downstairs to change channels, which will get wearing pretty soon, I reckon :rotfl:

I luvs weekends even scrubby ones. Have a good'un

We suspiciously are wondering if it's a government rule, so they can keep more checks on where any money goes and that any taxes are paid? I've been searching online but can't find anything.
They went to 2 banks are were told the same thing. The banks have been as unhelpful as possible since she went into the care home last year, to the extent parents are thinking of closing their accounts as a protest (but of course no-one will pay any attention anyway!)

Another chilly and damp day...but I'm working all day so it won't matter :)

    Enjoy your scrubbing LB :)

ETA - that is one well packed bag mum2one :rotfl:

Ellie - it really may be worth posting on the bereavement forum about things like this - seems everyone has a different experience, but someone will know how to tackle it, that's for sure.

I was up early as usual, but then made the big mistake of going back to bed, and am now struggling to get motivated. I feel the need for a proper day off doing nothing but reading and eating chocolate but that isn't going to happen!

One day....Ah well, the sooner I start, the sooner I finish!

    Have a good Saturday, All

    LB xx
