  • Well, the way I look at it, if there wasn't the odd friend (all my friends are odd :rotfl:) who treated me to a C pressie, I'd have nothing at all, so why not treat myself at C?

Different if you have a family/partner etc, perhaps, as hopefully you might be able to drop HUGE hints :rotfl:

It's only been last C and this one I've decided to treat myself. How miserable would C Day be if you had absolutely nothing? But, tbh, if I didn't see something I really liked, I wouldn't buy just for the sake of it. I was very lucky today :T

    Swishes hair around...I'm Worth It!

My plans/doings for this weekend being some work in garden...starting to come together, but still long way to go before I'm in full-on "food production mode". Oh well.....tells myself that its getting there bit by bit....

Got some of my "semi-hippy" alternative type activities I like lined-up for this weekend and should feel more informed/amused/delete as applicable by end of weekend and having a friend round to "admire latest work on garden" (hopefully:rotfl:) and try to get to the bottom more of what's best way to tackle a Big Problem she has on her plate at the moment. Well...I hope I'm putting some useful suggestions/take on things forward for my part...but if all its possible to do sometimes is play a sympathetic/supportive "listening ear" then that counts doesn't it?

Ellie99 - so what happened to "THREE hits and you're out...." that criminals get, when yer "normal person in the street" (ie yourself) gets told "two hits and you're out" re changing a medical appointment. "Hello there NHS...I got news for you....people DO have Lives To Lead you know/jobs to hold down/etc...."......

Ellie - I usually find that if I call the hospital once I have the initial letter I can actually schedule the appointment for a time I can make. The first one is automatically generated (given the volumes of patients, this is understandable) but they can deal with exceptions in person. So if you call and explain that you can't do certain dates/times they may be able to reorganise it there and then.

MTSM - I moved in just over a year ago. THe house is nowhere near finished (bottomless money-pit comes to mind). I've done the roof, windows, heating and hot water. The downstairs loo has been replaced, and about 50% of the electrics are done. I need to save up to have the bathrooms done (I NEED a shower, but only have baths), the rest of the electrics, a kitchen and flooring downstairs (don't care about upstairs flooring). The garden is going to be a VERY long term project - I've slowly been taking stuff out, and now have an idea of what I have to work with, but TBH until the builders have finished there's no point in doing much...

    Keeps me busy though :)

I like your reasoning, and will be adopting this plan :)

Although I don't have the excuse of no presents as I have 2 DSs who will produce a present, and a SIL who does smellies. Boys aren't good at present choosing, hinting doesn't work, they need clear instructions...I tried it for the first time last year...I'd like this, from that shelf, in this colour box, at that price...DS1 and his friend went shopping, they were stood in the aisle saying "are you sure this is what she wants?" and the friend saying "well, that's the instructions" :rotfl:
Okay, it was the kitchen aisle at tescos, but I knew they can shop there, and I got what I wanted :D

I have a male friend who is excellent at presents, listens and gets really suitable things, what a shame I don't like him in "that way" :rotfl:

    Hello

Today I am older than I was yesterday (still not grown up and sensible lol). Had a bit of shock this morning - I opened a card from my best pal and inside was a message 'something for your boudoir' then I opened her present and I opened it upside down and the first thing I spotted were 3 batteries and I was wondering what she had bought - I need not have been apprehensive as she gave me some LED lights in the form of roses to drape across my headboard and she provided the batteries in case I hadn't got any.

I went to a community convention today - made some great connections. Came home, made tomorrow's dinner because I know I won't want to cook when I get home from work. It has started cooking in the slow cooker but I will finish it off tomorrow. Dinner tonight will be a bacon sandwich followed by a raspberry souffl!.

I have decided that when I get my staff discount that I will go into the larger M&S in the city centre and will buy myself the purple dressing gown that I have coveted for a while and that will be my Christmas present.

Wonder where Byatt is - hope you are OK Byatt?

Thank you, I will try that first. I'll phone on Monday and see what they say. I don't want to mess them about, but I'm not used to dealing with hospitals, so don't know the protocol. I'm self employed so if I don't work, no wages!

Apologies, I read it in a rush. It actually says "more than two cancellations"...so 3 then? Anyway, I won't cancel, will arrange something.

Lavender Bees, last week your thread was starting a new tradition of Singlies Day... I think this weekend the new tradition is going to be "buy your own present and get something you really want" :D

Thanks for my birthday wishes  best go easy on the beer lol. I bought some beer to go into a casserole (tomorrow's dinner) but had some left so thought that I would drink it, 4 mouthfuls later and I am fast asleep on the sofa so had best not drink the rest until tomorrow.

Feels weird sorting out my bag for work - I have made sure I have packed some flat shoes as well as my new hat and hair net (Ena Sharples eat your heart out).
