I could blame LMMM, as she opens everything else, but the tub is a step too far even for LMMM...although she did try :rotfl:
No, I must confess it was me...:D
Dreadful, but lots left...lobs the green and the purple at various Singlies
. As long as I can have the orange ones...
RRP - that sounds like the perfect Singlies Day...bunch along the sofa and make room for one more

P.S. "Someone" opened the tub of Xmas Qu4lity Street sweets yesterday...dreadful, eh?
:rotfl:
In the spirit of "singlie solidarity" I must also confess...
I opened the christmas box of chocolates last night
I'd bought a bargain-priced box of thorntons and put it away in case I need it for a gift at christmas. i have no cat to blame, I cannot keep chocolate in the house and should know better than to buy it this early. It's not a bargain if I eat it myself!

Hi gang
Tried to get up early again today - big fail. the plan tonight is to put my phone on the dressing table furthest from my bed so I have to get out of bed to switch it off. Not looking forward to dragging myself out at 6am.
I confess that yesterday I ate a whole bag of Maltesers (one of those larger bags).
Hope you are all enjoying Singlies Weekend?
Time for a spot of lunch and I think I will visit my parents (dad won't be pleased, he will be watching the motor racing). Need to find out when he will let me have the cash for my bills (I sound like a heartless mare) because all my bills go out in the first week of the month and all by DD. I am starting to get anxious. If he lets me have £150 I will be happy as that isn't money for the whole month, just 2 weeks.0 -
The pleasure of living on your own
You have a bed to yourself, that you can get in and out of when you decide and you'll never be disturbed or woken up by someone else getting in an hour after you and bugging you, or who wants the lights off when you're reading a really good chapter, or who hogs the duvet, or who has annoyingly cold feet and wants to warm them up on yours, or who snores or kicks out or has terrible morning breath.
You can cook what you fancy when you're hungry and do the washing up whenever you're ready to. You don't have to avoid ingredients you love just because somebody else hates them, you don't get irritated when you've cooked three nights in a row and its not your turn but you'll have to do it again tonight because otherwise you'll go hungry or have to put up with a!!!! Sandwich.
You know that whatever was in the house when you left will be there when you get back. If the milk's gone its because you finished it, if there's hardly any loo roll left its because you haven't bought any new, you won't be taken by surprise!
You can keep the place as clean or as messy as you feel like depending on your mood, and you've only got your own washing in the basket to worry about.
You can decorate and furnish exactly how you want without having to compromise and without having to constantly defend your lovely home from assaults by horrible shelves, ugly paint colours and bad DIY that you are then expected to be grateful for.
You can use as much water, gas and electricity as you are comfortable with, you don't have to try and sneak around a skinflint who would rather see you get frostbite in January than turn a radiator on or someone who leaves every appliance in the house running at full power 24/7.

Christmas poem
t'was the night before christmas, he lived all alone,
in a one bedroom house, made of plaster and stone.
...
I had come down the chimney, with presents to give,
and to see just who, in this home, did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight i did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by mantle, just boots filled with sand,
on the wall hung pictures, of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
a sober thought, came through my mind.
For this house was different, it was dark and dreary,
i found the home of a soldier, once i could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone,
curled up on the floor, in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in disorder,
not how i pictured, a true british soldier.
Was this the hero, of whom i'd just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?
I realised the families, that i saw this night,
owed their lives to these soldiers, who were willing to fight.
Soon round the world, the children would play,
and grownups would celebrate, a bright christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom, each month of the year,
because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder, how many lay alone,
on a cold christmas eve, in a land far from home.
The very thought brought, a tear to my eye,
i dropped to my knees, and started to cry.
The soldier awakened, and i heard a rough voice,
"santa don't cry, this life is my choice;
i fight for freedom, i don't ask for more,
my life is my god, my country, my corps.."
the soldier rolled over, and drifted to sleep,
i couldn't control it, i continued to weep.
I kept watch for hours, so silent and still,
and we both shivered, from the cold night's chill.
I did not want to leave, on that cold, dark, night,
this guardian of honor, so willing to fight.
Then the soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure,
whispered, "carry on santa, it's christmas day, all is secure."
one look at my watch, and i knew he was right.
"merry christmas my friend, and to all a good night."Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

THIS IS NOT MY WORK I COPIED A FEW YEARS AGO
With you on the bed...it's lovely having a whole bed to stretch out in...and no horrible snoring waking me up :rotfl:
And I decorate however I like. But the rest, not so much...and now I'm annoyed I'm single without the benefits :rotfl:
Having an adult child still living at home means I cook when I don't want to, and as we like different things, have to take turns having the food we like. Feel obliged to cook a proper meal instead of something easy because DS works hard.
I go away for a day or two, and come back to an empty kitchen!
I turn round and the place is messy again...just how much mess can one person make in the shower?
I like to go to bed early and get up early, he doesn't, so his wandering around late can wake me up.
Oh well, I'll miss him when he goes
Hope you've all had a good day.
I think I'm an amateur at having a day to myself, bit of a failure today. Some Sundays I'm alone, but DS2 and his friend were here today...not visiting his mother, just using my driveway to fix his car. So was feeding them, and also needed to do some batch cooking before the stuff went off, so did that this morning.
A work colleague wanted to come round for a bit this afternoon, so I helped him out. By then it was getting too late to go out, so only got as far as the local shop. Bought a glue stick for the picture project I want to try, but didn't get round to doing it. Also bought myself a bunch of carnations.
So not a bad day, but could do better
Think I'd be better choosing a day when both DSs are at work.
Can we have two singlies days every year, like the queen and her birthdays? Another one in May would maybe give us good weather as well

Not exactly a "put feet up" celebrate Singlies Day here. Did do a bit of housework - though not as much as I meant to.
Does it still count as a Singlies Day when you go off to the cinema to watch a film for a few hours with a married couple you are friends with? Well...it was quite a good film:). I was enjoying getting into the visual detail of it.0 -
If you did anything that you enjoy, then that counts, even if it was just a few minutes.
And, being Singlies, guess what! We can do this any time we want to :j
The key thing, I think, is to know that we can, and to give ourselves some time, even if not a full day, over to things we enjoy and make us feel better.
So, it didn't have to be today or this weekend. Choose a day that suits you/your circumstance, and make yourself the focus.
I, too, didn't spend all day slumped in a chair - I made my roast dinner which will last all week, and the veges took for ever. I also cleaned litter trays, fed various furred and feathered friends, cleaned poop out of the hen house, booked train tickets etc. Impossible at home to do nothing...I'd need staff to allow me to do that :rotfl:
But I did manage a couple of hours this afternoon with my feet up on the spare bed in a pool of sunshine, read for a while, slept for a while, and now am off to bed with a cuppa and my book...I know how to live!! :rotfl:
My plan this week is to try to keep on top of housework etc on evenings to try to allow me some rest time next weekend. I'll see how it goes.
What today has told me though is that I'm definitely not spending Xmas Day cooking a roast meal...nibbles/treats for me. I want more time to play than stand in the kitchen. So, that's my decision made.
Have a good week, all.

You're right Lavender Bees, the important thing is to remember to take some time out for ourselves regularly.
If it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have thought to buy myself flowers today
I'm also off to bed soon with a book...detectives v. the serial murderer, good bedtime reading
