I loved going on holiday alone
    Been to
Tunisia, Turkey, Cyprus, Dom Rep, Gambia, Mexico, - half board or all in
    Prague - City Trip

The one tip I always do is wear a wedding ring, as when your out and say ur in a shop or on beach and getting "chatted up" which usually equates to I want a passport/better life in UK/money/leg over and all my expenses paid for a week" - you can just flash your ring finger and say meeting hubby/he's just gone to the bar etc....

(thou in defence - not all the men are that bad)

My best - was when I was in Gambia - gone for 2 weeks - half way throu th 1st week, this german lady has the room next to me, -shes by herself, we manage a broken English hello, next day a Gambian man turns up, end of week he leaves big bag, camera, camcorder round his neck. That evening he comes back to the hotel, he sits down and starts chatting, (we'd said hello during the week) I say hope your gf got home ok, - he then says shes not my gf, shes paid me to stay the week with her, - r u here for 2 weeks then - I'm gobsmacked - and yes go home at weeken, he then says if I would like him to stay just book him in at reception and it will be £100 for half the week......... I have never laughed so much in my life... xxxx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

I'm envious of your past holidays, they sound great.

Had to :rotfl:at the Gambian story. Reminds me of someone I worked with years ago. she wasn't a nice person. I heard some years later that she and her husband had gone to the Gambia on holiday. Next thing, she left her husband, went back to the Gambia to set up a B&B with her new, local lover. Unfortunately for her, he lost interest in her once she'd bought the B&B and she came back to the UK with nothing.

The Arabs can be a bit pushy i found. The Jordanian men when young can be quite stunning. I am a qualified scuba diver and on a day with no excursions, decided to enquire about a dive there. Most of the hotels have a dive school attached, so just wandered over to chat to them. Well, when the 'Dive Master' wandered out, OMG, actually his name was/is Omar and me calling him Omargod was lost on him :rotfl:

The Egyptian men are much worse than the Jordanians. You really have to be quite rude to them to get them to leave you alone. I took my DD there a few years ago and she was not comfortable with the attention.

    Evening all :)

Just a flying visit from me tonight as loooong day at work and another early start tomorrow. I've skimmed over the posts but will have a proper catch up at the weekend. Hope you are all doing ok though...

RosiePuddingPaws - I went to Canada about 14 years ago and travelled all round Ontario and finished up in Toronto. Like you I'd love to go again. I'm happy to drive over there. Shall we take an OS/MSE road trip? :p
I can also recommend Niagra Falls truly stunning. I did the boat trip and also a helicopter ride over the top. My only tip - don't go on 4th July - full of tourists from over the border ;) lol

Sorry about this post but I've basically come on for a moan. Feeling sorry for myself because I've had a bad day and I'm in pain. It's days like this I miss someone else being here, just someone to say don't worry you rest, I'll feed the dogs etc or make me cup of tea. I know that sounds incredibly mardy and needy and I'm annoyed with myself for feeling that way. Most times I've very content with my own company but not today.

Not that I would be hiring any bloke to join me on holiday, as would rather hire one to just fix house stuff to be frank.....but there is an element of myself that scares me, and being alone on holiday could result in disaster...especially if bored.

I can be a bit 'blonde' at times, or just plain thick and naive, or if bored can run with something I know is going to be wrong and will not end well.

If I were alone abroad I fear a Bridget Jones scenario could well be end result....but I don't have Darcey to get me out of it.

A friend and I went off on hols years ago, and both our partners response was...."oh god this is going to be a real life Thelma and Louise"

The one thing I think I would consider is Borneo and volunteer work with the orang-utans, that would be heaven for me, but fear I would want to become Dian Fossey mark 2 and never leave.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Kind of continuing the holiday theme (very tenuous connection though, if any at all :D). Benidorm was on TV while I was reading and one of the characters flounced out of a room saying "I am what I am, and what I am needs no excuses". Unfortunately for DD and DS I've been pretending to be Gloria Gaynor singing I am what I am ever since :rotfl: I may move on to I will survive tomorrow, that'll really annoy them :rotfl:

Thought the lyrics are pretty appropriate for us contented singlies though. :D

Hope everyone's had a good one. Friday tomorrow

Anything particular bad about the day? ...as in anything happened ? , or is it feeling sick of feeling horrid ?

Moan away, we are all due a moan you know, it is human....and not needy at all. This is when singlie can be poo.

I'm around for a bit if you'd like to vent.

Has that come out wrong? Didn't mean to minimise what you posted, just wondered if something else was happening?...if that makes sense.

A virtual hug, and a virtual cuppa. :) I don't think it's mardy or needy to want someone to make a cuppa and say it will be alright in the morning...some times, just having a virtual hug makes all the difference. ((((Hugs))))
