Byatt - Oooh Italy - how exciting. That is at the top of my list of places that I want to go to so I am a teeny bit jealous but :j for you at the same time!

I will def let you know if I get to the SW - that would be awesome :D

Re: Belgium. I went to Bruges once too on the way back from Germany. Quite a long time ago now so all I really remember is lots of lovely buildings, beer and chololate.... not sure what that says about the place or me :rotfl:
  • Like that song you clicked to Byatt:dance:

    Italy eh? Which part?

All these people mentioned by posters here and a phrase I recently read about people who like to "chip away at confidence" comes to mind. Sympathies.

Guess that's how some people operate:(, as taking a massive great whammy type swipe is easy to see through, but a bit of "chip, then chip a bit more, then chip a bit more" can take a bit more doing to see through. But, as it's seen through in the end and that's the important thing eh?

    Hmmmmm.

Without going into major detail, Asbo-cat has been under house arrest this last week as she went awol without permission and I found he 3 houses down doing the whole 'I own the place' thing.

She is very territorial and has been called ninja-cat in the past as well as Asbo due to behaviour towards other cats....and there are lots here.

Anyhow, this morning she was out with me and didn't seem too interested in going round to the front of the house over the fence (back is totally fenced in), so...back door has been open all evening for her to wander in and out of back garden.

I'm not sure as been inside, but said asbo has just come in very excited and looking very pleased with herself and feels very cold so she's obviously been outside for a while......I have a sneaking suspicion she has been 'walk about' again.

This is not good news as I can't leave the doors and windows open all day and night here as I used to in the village I used to live in....which idiot cat doesn't understand.

Next thing on the agenda is to get some grass in the back (currently all gravelled) as that is what she initially goes out for despite growing grass for her in the house, otherwise it will become a habit, plus she will scrap with the other kitties I think, only ever been lots of verbal in the past, but she is a bad tempered thing, and would scrap like a lunie if she felt she had to I think.

She will be on house arrest again as out a lot, the at work, then away, so that may cure it again for a while.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
  • Wondering amusedly how the fluffy butts are today? and whether they're up for any more "chicken foodie heaven" treats.

...and how AsboCat is today. Must be taking her time to adapt too.

Have you finished painting that pink bedroom Calico?

Right...must get back to the Big Clean-Up again. Am feeling hugely relieved to "have my brain back to normal" again. It's been upsetting to be so distractable/unfocused/etc since moving here. The number of times I've put things down and lost track of them since moving here is legion amongst all the chaos that has reigned. Have hated that with a passion, as I'm normally such an organised person and used to knowing exactly whats what. Even exterior matters have been subject to my brain not zipping straight through from A-Z (facts analysed/conclusions reached/etc) but wandering around "lost in a bit of a fog" whilst all the House Renovation has been going on.

Thank goodness...back to "zip...zip...zip":T instead of "Agh! It's gone hazy...come on brain...(kick...kick)..work you damn thing"

Must be an equivalent to that "baby brain" I've read of women talking about happening sometimes when they have children. Anyone else had (or got) House Renovation Brain? Am guessing it must happen to quite a few people who are used to having organized/"zippy" minds.

I've got "exhausted by everything brain" :rotfl:. I used to be very organised and well planned but last year's Parents' illnesses and Pets' illnesses put paid to that, and I honestly haven't regained that power. It's a bit like being offered kryptonite if you are superman! :rotfl:

An unexpected day at home today as Calico has had to cry off due to lack of sleep. So, I've spent an hour with the fluffy butts, left them very happily pecking away at their fave corn on the cob, and iceberg lettuce :). Bluebelle has made another nest but no other signs of broodiness so far....

I've also had the opportunity to sit with a lovely cuppa and watch sweet-baby-cat playing with both the other cats. They are very tolerant of her leaping at them etc. :rotfl: She has gained so much confidence and is now strutting around like she owns the place :p. As I write, YBC is on his back with limbs akimbo, and SBC is assessing how to launch her attack :p

So, what to do today then? There's various out of the house activities, like NT and a plant sale somewhere else, but they all involve driving, and I'm pretty tired out. That's the problem with weekends of only two days. I need two days to get on top of everything. A third day would be lovely to then have a day out knowing all the chores are up to date!

I think I'll be boring and get on top of my housework this morning, and then maybe rest on the spare bed with the pusses this afternoon, and read. I use to read 6 library books every 3 weeks until last year, and have now managed to actually finish a book at last. My concentration has been absolutely shot to bits, and what little of it I have left, I've had to channel for work purposes. So, I'm chuffed to bits to finally have got through a book. I don't read heavy books, haven't for years...more boy meets girl, lots of misunderstandings, unfeasibly and not at all true to life happy ending type books :rotfl:

Right, another cuppa first, I think. YBC is now "hiding" under the sofa throw...a paw keeps appearing from under the throw....and SBC is stalking him.....:rotfl: I luvs my fluffsters :)

Have a lovely restful Sunday, Peeps

LB, you may suddenly find me on your doorsetp one friday night as I can't wait to see SBC :D ...

No plans for where in Italy as such, just want to see all I can see as a tourist, in a short time, because I don't know when I'd get the opportunity again, might not even get the opportunity now.

I've been watching the RA summer exhibition, I love it because members of the public can enter, it's so inspiring. So in a sudden rush of inspiration I have been looking up art courses. I can't draw for toffee but in my dim and distant childhood was praised for abstract art on a couple of occasions and as I am desperate to express my creative side have decided what have I got to lose. I may need to learn some basic techniques because in my experience of beginner's courses, there's always one or two who are "experts" and shouldn't be in the class at all. Because when I say I can't draw, I really mean I can't draw.

See you next weekend, then :D

I think drawing is a learned skill like most things - you can't write without being taught, or drive etc etc. There are some very naturally talented people who can see perspectives and angles, but you can be taught these skills, that's for sure. Is it drawing you want to do, or watercolours or....?

  • LB - You are very clearly an organised, focused sort of person normally. That much is quite obvious. It would be surprising if "brain was in normal focused mode" at the moment, ie with everything you've had to cope with recently. I doubt many people could manage to stay clear/focused/etc in those circumstances. Give yourself time and just be a bit patient with yourself and Brain will Resume Normal Service at some point.

Byatt, I cant draw to save my life myself:rotfl:. I cant sing either. So that's two potential creative things I haven't got a hope of personally. But, I am a reasonably good dancer and a pretty good cook, so that's my two creative outlets. I suspect I should be a good gardener when I get going too. I think its very helpful for everyone to have at least one creative outlet personally. Hope your Inner Muse wakes up soon and the "creative juices" start flowing.
  • JKS - I think Calicocat is right. Your ex is unhappy and wants you to be too. I had a grandmother like that - she was only happy if everyone around her was unhappy.

Your friends are your friends because they want to be and because they like you. Would you sacrifice your spare time to hang out with someone you never liked? I know I wouldn't.

I would just ignore him and when you see him, be as cheerful and positive as possible. Make him understand that he cannot bring you down.

Have a great Sunny Sunday everyone!
