My plans for the weekend include an interview with a rep from the Office of National Statistics (yawn)
LB - is that for a job interview?
Or are they asking for an update on number of furry and feathered pets per housedhold?0 -
Anyway, I'm having a nurturing weekend, will make plans to go to HFW's restaurant for my birthday later this month, with a friend, and read my book which is a rarity in that I don't want it to end.
Byatt - that sounds great - hope you have a lovely time!
I really want to go to one of HFW places but can't find anyone to go with me..... I mean who doesn't like food right?! I've not quite mustered up the courage to do by myself either.

What to say about Belgium??? First I would like to say that I was born here and I have Belgian nationality. Therefore I feel that I have the right to say negative things about my own country. Having lived in England most of my life I also have a point of comparison.
Ladies and gents - if you ever get the chance to leave the Uk for Belgium... don't do it! We are the grumpiest people in the world. Shame it is not an olympic sport as we would be unbeatable. Imagine a country full of Victor Meldrews but without the sense of humour. Yes - that is us. And it might be contagious - I'm getting grumpier everyday.
The positives are:
chocolate - gave it up at new year
beer - gave up alcohol at new year
chips - gave up take-aways at new year
That is why I am saving every penny to overpay my UK mortgage - then I will try and save another £20,000 so that I can move back to the UK in a financialy secure position. 2020 at the very latest. Hopefully sooner.Mortgage March 2013: [STRIKE]£55,956 [/STRIKE]£38,500 (aim to pay off by 2020)
Overpay aim 2013: £9,974/ £5,000 :T:T:T
Overpay aim 2014: £3,800/£12,000
Kitchen and curtain fund: €1,000 / €4,000
Emergency fund: €1,000 / €2,0000 -
We've had rain here today, but not the threatened Big Storm (not yet anyway). Hoping the weather stays at least reasonably okay, as am planning to go in town in a minute. A friend tells me they've left something they thought I might like somewhere for me, so must check it out. Nice to be thought about like that anyway:D
Just about starting to poke head above parapet, sniffing hopefully at the air and the chance of Having A Life again at last with the Stage 1 House Renovation Project darn nearly over. Have been down on hands and knees literally scrubbing the kitchen floor this morning three times to remove all ingrained filth that it accumulated on top of my new kitchen vinyl (what an exciting life - not!). Veneer of filth and dust that has settled over the house being gradually removed at last now.
Now starting to check out more whats going on socially and wondering what date to choose for a little mini housewarming for friends here to date:beer:0 -

Hah! :rotfl: No, I'm MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than that doncha know!? :rotfl:
it's an every 2 year interview, where they ask me questions about the type of mortgage I have, my pension plans, savings accounts, boring stuff really. I think they track me until I die, but I get a £10 shopping voucher, and will sell my soul for less :rotfl: Anyway, the blokey didn't turn up . :mad:I ran around like a mad thing this morning to be back here in time, and he didn't turn up...first time that's happened. I don't have a contact number for him, so I guess the first he'll realise is when he comes to make his returns.
I managed to get some lottie work done instead that I didn't expect to, although finished in heavy rain, and had to shower as was soaked through to my knickers :rotfl:
Bluebelle has made a lovely little BB shaped nest in the hen house. She doesn't know that I know...so I suspect she's heading for another broody spell...I am poised ready for action again. I AM SUPERCHICK!
Got some unexpected good luck today. I had complained to my Mam's building society as 6 weeks and various requests later, I still had not received the paperwork I need to move her estate forward. Not only did the paperwork arrive today, but also an unexpected offer of £100 compensation for the distress caused me...would I like to accept?
Do bears poo in the woods?
There were flames coming from my pen signing the acceptance form so quickly!
:rotfl:
Now who else can I complain to? :rotfl:
So, I was going to try to be good today, but I have poured a glass of wine to help me on the paperwork trail and sweet-baby-cat has plonked herself on my knee for moral support. So, I guess I'd better get started...
Deep breath...!

If at first - well done on giving up the wine, chocs and takeaways and sticking to it :T Def more will power than me
MITSTM - Rather you than me with all the scrubbing but at least you can see progress now
LB - Well that really is annoying the guy not turning up  Perhaps if you complain you will get extra vouchers?
I think you should do something nice with your unexpected windfall - or perhaps put it towards holiday spends?
Don't feel bad on the wine front - I am joining you on the tipple front. Sat here with a lovely G&T and not feeling remotely guilty about it.0 -
Hello.....somebody mention a glass of wine???......lol.
I'll join you guys in a glass when it's a bit colder....cheers folks.
Work was ok, so will just be a couple of glasses, plus need to sort bomb site of a house out, when on my shifts i'm at work or asleep really, I don't know what I do to the place in between for it to get so messy.
Teaming it down here, fairy lights and candles on, vino cooling in fridge, have half sorted kitchen, and half sorted some of the stuff i've organised for festival. I'm not sure how the heck i'm going to do what I need to or people want me to. I'm either at work, at mums, or with no car as it's getting serviced. I have quite a bit left to get, more organising to do, and people want me to make my burgers, chicken and ham pie, corned beef pasties and potato salad.....pity you can't do these things in your sleep. Then it's off to festival after shifts with no flipping sleep.....then partying, i'll be knocked clean out by 9pm..!!!
LB is going to help me shove up tent tomorrow in lounge as raining to see if I can fit hammock in tent (she's really excited about this I know)...lol..., that way i'm kept off the floor if it's cold and wet, nearly got hypothermia last time at night and it was dry that year.......i'm possibly too old for this malarki??
Right, i'm starving hungry now, so off to freezer-dive and find something to eat.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
