Calicocat....can you go for it, and then as friend of Sparky's new grilfriend, he may come and do my shower as a freebie....der yer think?

    :rotfl:

In what context did he mention his underwear? It's not normal pre-date conversation, or not in my rather limited lately experience... :rotfl:

    Result! :T

    Calico,

Well, Mr Sparky seems to have told you quite a few personal facts about himself for a workman.

    Two conclusions from that:

    - either you're living in a similar area to the one I'm now in (as, in some areas, its astonishing just how much a workman will tell you about himself personally). I think I about know the life history by now of the workman I have in most here....but that's because it's that sort of area where workmen do go in for "personal" chat.

    - on the other hand, if you are living in an area similar to my last area (that is...probably most of the country is like that???) then workmen just don't tell you anything about their personal life or expect to ask you anything about yours. They just do the job....end of....and I know precisely one personal fact about one workman back there (ie that my plumber has a son, and that's only because he'd been coming round every year for maintenance work and done various other work as well).

So, if you're in the "most of the country" where people don't have a clue about the private lives of their workmen, then that amount of personal comment probably means "You're in maid...get the kettle on;):)".

    Lol...

To be honest this place is quite friendly.....but it's a hard one to call to be honest.

He was going to come back yesterday to do the bell but I said I wasn't in a hurry......gotta spread the jobs out a bit....lol.

I did think he was really chatty about himself though, talked about his duties abroad...kosovo etc. But then I can be very reserved so maybe not a good judge.

I know LB and Byatt will find that hard to believe probably...but it is another side of me.

Time will tell kids.....and yes LB i'll make him come up..he's away this weekend in London though.

Actually LB I did mention you....i did say that you didn't have the best ever relationship with yours...he asked why so I told him about the crying.........he was laughing his head off...didnt put him off though..said he would take the job.

EDIT.....hmmm....thinking about it plumber was really chatty too when I first met him, and his helper...I think they are just friendly here to be fair.

Either way i'm having fun playing with the whole idea of it.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Oh the underwear was if he fell off roof and died.

I was to tell his mum he loves her and that he died with clean boxers on.

Plumber rang last night...by which time i'd fixed it. Told him i'd googled how to do it and he sounded like he spat his tea out, then started laughing....anyhow, it seems fine, have gone round when got in today and done the bleeding radiators thing as pressure had gone up...I also now know how to lessen the pressure....am becoming a genius.

Oh also today....EPIC FAIL on the no clothes buying until June. Got 2 dresses and a cardi when out shopping with mum. Should have been 210...I got them for 78...so a bit MSE., good bargains and will last me for years. Spent a flipping fortune, got some things for mum and took her for lunch...but a good day, and she seemed happy. She seems to be forgetting more and more though...bit worrying really...but something we all have to face at some point.

Calico, Kosovo was 98/99, so you could work out his age by asking how old he was when he was there. Horrible war.

If it becomes appropriate i'll just ask him...but guess that means 32 at least...lol.

Excellent detective skills though Byatt....good job.

And yes...it was me who asked where he had served as my brother used to be in the army..he was saying his duty amounted to picking up dead women and children over there for weeks. Sounds *loody awful.

Loving Calicocat's sparky stories :D Can't beat a man with tools :rotfl:

Well, been up since stupid o'clock with a head full of snot (tmi, sorry) but on the plus side, third wash of the day is in. I swear other folk must have keys to my house and bring their washing here!

Concerned about DS. Came home from school yesterday, and getting changed out of his uniform asked what I was washing next and if his "darks" should go straight into the washing machine. I didn't even know that he knew there was a plan for how things were washed! I reckon that either I'm chunnering on much more than I realise about what needs doing, or he's listening to what I say (and saving it to use to his advantage when it suits). He did want something :rotfl:

Well....the vileness of reality is here....it's time to return to work. So now I get to hang out in bed all day in the hope that at some point I fall asleep for work tonight.

OOoooo...must check lottery tickets in case no need to work.

Mummybobble.....i think your story is sweet and makes your D'S sound dead cute....even if he did want something.

Have a lovely weekend everyone whatever you are doing.

    Morning all.

I had a lovely evening catchin up with some friends last night over a curry. Feel really relaxed today.

Mummy Bobble - I can sympathise as I have the lurgy still too. Planning on keeping warm and dosed up with meds to see if I can beat it.

Calicocat - hope you remember us if you win ;) I just heard on the radio that the Euromillions winner was in the UK. I checked my ticket and I got £2.80 so no giving up work for me :rotfl:

I have just been sent the following saying and wanted to share it all with you:

Single isn't a status. It's a word that describes a person is who strong enough to live and enjoy life without depending on others

    I really liked it :T

BW, lovely quote...:) Sorry you're feeling poorly...my lurgy took a while to get over and I still have a cough, not all the time, but irritating nonetheless.

MummyBobble, loved the story of your son, my DD is 27 and I always know she wants something when she is especially nice and helpful...

Well, I put buying a car on par with divorce and buying a house! I am so stressed about it. Tried a car and the brakes barely worked...I did an emergency stop and we carried on down the road for several feet.

I've looked, reviewed, checked, looked, reviewed and I just want to hide under duvet, despite being a beautiful day...my car blokey (all of 12 years old), is sourcing a car (Ka) with low mileage for its age...please, please let it be ok.

I've bought 3 cars before on my own but this time I'm just panicked...maybe it's an age thing.

Calico, my detective skills were honed when I was with ex...if I'd been younger I would have set up a detective agency. :T

Hi Byatt - don't be too hard on yourself. I think it's probably a build up of the events of the last week or so. I'm sure that you will be able to find a car that is just right soon. :)
