  • We've got it all going on cat wise here! Ninja cat (should have been suspicious when we found out the Cat's Protection League had named him Maverick - I'll do what I want, when I want and I'll do it my way) plus our little princess cat who will happily do her business in the litter tray and then stands next to it with an expression that says "Excuse me, someone needs to come and cover this up!", and meows next to the sofa in a way that suggests "Excuse me, you need to pick me up". Wouldn't be without them though. I, meanwhile, will continue to repeat that all the marks on my arms and hands are cat scratches and that I am not self harming :D

DD and DS? Well ok, after a week of relative calm, one day back in school and normal service has been resumed... DD singing the Twelve Days of Christmas (is it just me, but isn't it the wrong time of year?) with a McDonald's theme (seven chicken nuggets, six mayo chickens, five hash browns etc) and DS playing FIFA 14 while singing Kum ba ya My Lord. I left them to it because DD declared she is the warrior goddess, DS says otherwise and they were wrestling. Ermmm, how old are they??? At least it's not dull :rotfl:

    Night all xx
  • My Monday was quite intense, with no cuppa from 10.00am till I finished work at 5.00pm... then sat with an Earl Grey and decompressed before driving the 15 miles home.

Tough without tea, isn't it? One of the things I hate most about going back to work is the general lack of tea drinking :rotfl:

Shocker getting up this morning too - kids we're grumpy on their way to school so I'm loving 20 mins peace with a :coffee: before I'm off to work. Hope all have a good day.
& as for some happy ending I'd rather stay single & thin :D

  • Well, I tried to post a message this morning, but then found I'd inadvertently turned the WIFI switch on my lappy off with my knee so gave up...:rotfl:

But I was one of those too shattered last night to even think of posting. In bed and asleep before 9pm, I think. :o

But before that I had phone calls from the joiner, confirming my new back door is being fitted today :T, and from the lovely builder, confirming weather good enough to go on my house roof safely, so he would be repointing my chimneys/replacing some slates today :T.

Lovely builder has sent me a photo of my new back door as I won't see it in daylight until tomorrow morning. It looks fab!

I love other people working for me! :rotfl:

When I was a child and was made to go to bed by 7.30pm so that my Mam could watch Corrie in peace (;)), I made it one of my life's ambitions to stay up late as an adult. Surely as an adult, no one can tell you to go to bed early...? Now, as an adult, I DREAM of early nights, am desperate for them! Naturally, I blame my Mam... :)

Loving the cat stories. Ninja and Princess sound lovely. My own YBC has decided that the new woollen throw on the sofa is THE place to sleep at the moment. I haven't the heart to say no. :(

Enjoy your afternoons, All. It's a beautiful sunny day here. Shame to be cooped up in the office, but hey, such is life. Curry night with some colleagues tonight though, which is cheering me up. Yum!

    LB xx

    hello everyone,

work is going well, but I don't know what to do about my training, I have been given a sheet to fill in with questions and had to get them all right to pass it, but after I filled it in I realised I had answered one wrong, I haven't handed it back in yet, do I ask for another sheet and redo it or just hand it in anyway and hope that it doesn't mean anything too bad, as I'm still in the trial period of the job.

Days off are great, but trying not to make too many of them pj days, or nothing will get done!
  • Various :(_pale_:kiss: moments today....but a plus side of being a singlie is that people (even total strangers) feel free-r to approach and make comments/etc of a positive variety.

It is harder to approach one half of a couple...in case they aren't "open to friendly overtures" (as does often seem to be the case for whatever reason) but have had the reverse side of that today a couple of times of people feeling free-r to approach me because I haven't got A.N. Other glued to my side....so another temporary acquaintance later and another potential friend later notched up today because people DID feel that bit free-r to approach me because of me obviously being a singlie.

Roll on.....and I'm telling myself singlies should be able to set up a bigger social circle because other people are aware that I am the only one to decide whether they are worth knowing or no (rather than thinking a Mr A.N. Other might decide to make some comment to effect of "Don't bother about them..." for whatever reason).

Ya just know there have to be plus sides to being a singlie:)
  • LB I was another in bed early last night as I was shattered after the first day in my new job. Won't be late tonight either! Also glad to hear your new door is ready at last.

As you may have guessed, I have succumbed to the lure of two new fur babies. All being well (if they pass their vet check) then I can bring them home on Saturday. I just hope they get on with the current pair. Need to go shopping before then to get collars as they will only release them wearing collars and tags. Might need Byatt if I ever go on holiday!

It's amazing how people get jumped on for approaches isn't it? I often grin and compliment someone's hat /coat/jumper or something...of something has cheered me up in its pleasant appearance why don't tell the wearer? After all, they have gone to the trouble of picking it out.

Just before Christmas I got a compliment on a faux fur hat in a supermarket. The giver, an older man, obviously was worried I would take offence and backed away saying 'I didn't mean anything by it, its just a nice hat,' and looked incredibly releived when I said thank you. (What actually happened is that I hadn't heard the compliment and needed the repetition for me to get what was going on so I looked a bit bemused which he obviously thought was cross looking.

I've found there is something I can compliment almost everytime I am out (though, tbf I don't go out often) . I have a terribly rude habit of gawking at people's houses and gardens and if the people are in the garden I make a point of saying,...' i'm so sorry to stare, but i l
love this rose, I don't suppose you know which variety it is' or ' your house is so pretty it always makes me happy', or , for some people in a village up the road I still haven't met......I put a christmas card through their door saying, ' I just wanted to give you a card because I pass your house twice a week and the pears at this time of year on your pear tree are so beautiful and seasonal they bring such joy, so thank you for having such a nice pear tree'.

    Yeah, I'm a nutter. :o

:rotfl: ha ha that is so what I used to think too! Always insisted that I would never go to bed early and thought adults were mad for doing so... oh how we learn lol
    Enjoy your curry night LB

:T LIR - I think that's a lovely thing to do and I'd love it if I had such a card sent to me.

Evening all - my day has been a PITA and I'm feeling a bit  with work. Just trying to decompress and let it go until tomorrow.....
  • This is such a nice thread!

Even when I don't have time to post anything (or don't have anything worthwhile to say) it's always a pleasure to read.

    Thanks, everyone :T
