Apologies in advance if I'm missing a trick here...

Do you guys use dedicated days for things (Wednesday, menu planning, Thursday shopping/errand day etc) and zones for each week or do you break it down into one zone/room per day of the week like the 2nd post on this thread?

Just want to get with the programme lol

    Hi
We don't tend to include grocery shopping and errands here, mostly because many of us work outside the home so our schedules are quite varied. I for example work Mon-Wed and not fixed hours, plus I don't always shop every week, sometimes it's 10 days etc.

The thread (aka Fred) is mainly housework with chat thrown in, plus "me time", decluttering and a nudge towards important paperwork / calls etc

We'll each have our own bits like sorting school uniform and lunches, too.
    Hope that helps X

DW on, WM on, work started on bedroom when the heating engineer turned up (wasn't due til between 1 & 5pm) A new timer thingy fitted, so hopefully that's the job done :j They can't get the part for the gas fire, they don't make it anymore. I'm not surprised it is over 15 years old. The heating engineer is going to see what he can do about getting me a new fire. I won't hold my breath but hopefully I shouldn't need it if the central heating is going to work
I can't do much more in my room 'til the girls get home to help put some boxes in the attic. Then I can get the hoover in there, then I can dust and do the windows.
Stopping for a bite of lunch then I'll start on the kitchen . . .

I spent the morning in the kitchen and with laundry/other little jobs. It's not going to get any more attention today (although it still needs lots), apart from meals and washing up.
Made lunch for me, DH and DS1 - they've now both gone (back) to work. This is the bit were I should now move on to studying for my course, but I feel very tired, so I'll try a power nap (will set alarm on phone just in case). If that doesn't help I'll do bedroom stuff first, as that might suit better.

Odile and WoQ have a look at the link to this week last year to get an idea of a normal flying week, or take a look at last week's thread. This week is a bit different as we are concentrating on one type of room. Post No1 gets updated each night with the next day's tasks. Not until late on when I have finished dealing with my own family's needs.

Right washing in as it is raining, just for a change. Heading up to make a start on a bedroom or 2 until the boys come home from school.

back from work and DH has been fed and returned to his employer, i spent almost 2 hours in the small spare room this morning - its so full i had to get everything out to clear floor space to stand on. so landing i trashed. im now in the prosess of working through stuff and its either being returned to the room or in one of the bags ive earmarked DD2, CS, Bin or recycle. - Anything that lives else where in the house is being put in its correct home.

welcome to all the new flyers

I've been in the spare room, simple task for me as it's quite clear (until the drawers and cupboards are opened!!!)

I have one bag ready for CS, my regular little clothes collection, anything grown out of. I have rehomed a 3D jigsaw of the globe, the kids like it so it's gone in the garage room. I'm probably keeping the bookends, they might go nicely in DD new room when sorted (oh the man from the bed shop called, he said it will probably arrive next week :T). And the (hopefully) last bits of xmas bumph that keep appearing has been returned to its home in the loft. Along with a box of crackers I bought for 40p :T

The only things still out are my jewellery box (needs contents editing then a new home), the big duvet (will have a home when swap rooms with DD) and some broken xmas lights. I will decide whether to mend or ditch, later on when I can think. Am sure it's only bulbs, but since we didn't use them this year, should I bother???

Thanks dusty you got my arris in gear! Hurrah!

    Hi there,

I found flylady a few years ago and I definitely live by some of the great tips. I'm glad to see there's a thread on here for it. Do I just say 'Im in?' and then follow your challenges for the day? Sounds brilliant!
LBM January 2017 £34k will have paid back finally by my DFD May 2021
got my first store card on my 18th birthday, never known a life without the grey cloud of debt looming over me. 18yrs and the end is finally in sight 🤩
  • Thanks so much, that makes sense!

I'll muddle my way through this week and see where it takes me, it's really good of you to 'lead the group' like that, looking forward to being a part of it.

So far today I have achieved absolutely nothing, I realised as I started the kitchen that I had to dash out and grab little one from nursery and haven't got anything done since. Oops.

Good news is I have the night off work so I don't need to panic about fitting it all in.

DS2 decluttered to school after his dentist appointment, he was an absolute star! He is terrified of the dentist after the previous butcher gave him a filling with KH holding him down in the chair  but he is finally gaining confidence :A He has another appointment next Monday where they are going to "try out" local anaesthetic and one more at the end of Feb to give him a go at gas and air, then she's going to attempt an extraction of a rotten baby tooth :( If all goes well he will have to have three more removed as his mouth is seriously overcrowded, if he doesn't stand for it he will have to be referred to the dental hospital and put under GA to have all 4 removed.

We'll done to your DS FW! If it would help with his anxiety it might be worth asking his GP for some Phenergan which is an old fashioned type of anti-histamine. It works miracles as a relaxant for children! My DD has to have regular mega injections in hospital for an ongoing medical condition and was hysterical each time. Now with 1 tsp of Phenergan she's chilled enough to walk in under her own steam instead of cowering in the corner!

Not much flying happening here today
Just seem to be really behind!

Welcome any newbies and hugs and Flyvibes to those (in addition to me :p) who need them.

Welcome to the flylady thread no invitation needed just jump in and start posting

If you need help getting your house in order, dealing with your clutter and getting the cleaning done then you're in the right place.

Plan for this week is to concentrate on one bedroom starting with decluttering and tidying and moving on to deep cleaning. Along side this we shall aim to keep on top of the basic flying.

    Marvellous Monday Basics

Wipe the kitchen sides (just what you can see)
Clean the kitchen sink, slosh some soda crystals and hotwater down
    Hoover and mop the floor

    Bedroom Declutter
Today's aim is to deal with everything you can see without opening drawers/cupboards, looking under beds (don't worry that will come). For some this will be easy for others a huge challenge.

Imagine how you would like the room to be at the end of the week.

Now pick up an item (cloth in hand to remove the dust as you go;)) and ask youself:

    Do you love it?
    Do I use it?
    Do you need it?

Take 3 large boxes or laundry baskets, anything which gets 3 yes votes goes in the to keep box. Anything which gets 3 No votes goes in the get rid of box. Now the tricky bit anything with some Yes votes you need to decide on whether you keep it or not. You can have a undecided box but try not to put too much in there (or you'll regret it later on in the week ;)) Try not to keep things just in case you may need them, because somebody gave it to you, because you feel you should love it.

The first 30 minutes is usually the most successful so get off to a good start and then have a break or your ability to make decisions will decrease.

Well I made a good start - I made the bed when I got out of it. Plus I put the dog cover over it - although have to do this everyday at the moment anyway as they are traipsing mud in from our bog of a garden. And after doing my head in everytime they went upstairs and jumped on the comfortor and getting muddy paws on everything, I gave up and found a really old throw and have that on there now. It is easy to wash and protects the bedding now. So until the bog is relaid with fake turf then this will stay on the bed. :D
