Wow - thank you all! I have tried mind mapping before Ali and it definitely works for me for brainstorming ideas - I could use it for developing ideas for the business definitely. I've been using Workflowy for lists but I think I need a YNAB for getting things done - something where I can identify all the "stuff" then allocate available time!
Why isn't there an app for that?!
Good day today - sold 2 more places - with 2 more reserved. So almost full - at least for dog places (can also have people without dogs but usually fewer of them for obvious reasons!). Will add the money as I get it in so £105.86 to add today. :j Am going to hit my target soon which is fantastic!0 -
I had noticed the other day a person was recommending you, I was impressed, happy and excited all at once, your obviously making a great impression
Your hard work is paying off Miz ... I'm so happy for you0 -
Morning Mizmir,
Fantastic news about more places being filled. The February target is going to be easily filled.
Hope the Shingles has nearly gone and your dad is still recovering well.
xx0 -
El - GREAT to see you here! Yes - it always amazes me when someone recommends me - but it is lovely. I have a few people now who are repeat clients - come on several courses and online course - must be doing something right. That is what I am trying to build up - people who like what I do and will keep coming back when I introduce new stuff (and bring their friends). Interestingly the new workshop has filled entirely from a post to my newsletter and a couple of posts on FB. Of the people coming more than half have had previous dealings with me (one to one, online course etc) - and the others I know from FB - only a couple are completely unknown - and even they have been recommended to it by friends.
Steph - Thanks for the support- shingles almost entirely gone now - just a bit of tenderness where the scabbing is healing up. Dad is at home and recovering well. Will ring them later and get the latest update.
Today I am going to resurrect some software I have that has worked well for me in the past. It is called Life Balance and is based on the GTD method but allows you to allocate time to different areas and see how your time is being used. It takes a while to set up so I have avoided going back to it but I think it is worth another go. I may be some time....0 -
This is an awful lot better than doing mystery shopping!
I like GTD - I've let it slip, but I like it. Once the ratted tidying is done and I can see what I'm doing, I'll probably go again.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Isn't it just! I think I will concentrate on what I know and building that.

me too. Will have a crack at it again today. It really helped for a long time last time.0 -
Well - after wasting half the day yesterday trying to get a grip of Life Balance I remembered why I had given it up in the first place!
It is meant to prioritise your "to do" list so that you only see the next things on the list. The problem is the effort involved in categorising everything so that the order on the list is right is just too much - so I didn't - and the list was always wrong!
So I have moved swiftly on to plan B - Workflowy. Now for those of you who like lists and like to have them on all your gadgets - Workflowy is for you. It is quick, elegant and has apps for desktop and phone - as well as a web version. You can share lists with others and create any kind of list - when I went back I found I had already done "brainstorming" lists for the business so some nice ideas there.
I have been thinking more about my productivity issues and I have come up with a plan to try. Basically what I do falls into two big categories - regular stuff that just needs doing well... regularly ... and one off stuff that I need to do once and get through. In each there are things relating to the business, home etc. - and I need to get a spread across these. My tendency is to focus on the regular stuff (like email, admin etc) and never get on to the other stuff (e.g developing new products) so I have created a "Day structure" where I have "checklists" for the regular stuff (divided over 3 slots - am, lunch and pm) - this includes cleaning jobs, walking dogs, dealing with email, answering questions in my forum, MSE...! I then have two slots (totally 4 hours a day) for "to do" things - where each day I will choose ONE thing to do - and work on it till it is finished. That way I get to do new stuff and keep the other stuff going.
It sounds more complicated than it is. I have created a list in Workflowy that I can duplicate each day and customise for that day. It includes checklists for all the regular stuff. I also have the "things to do" list from which I will select the most pressing new thing to do. Am sticking to one thing for now - will see how that goes - might make it two - but I think I need to try to focus for those hours.
So I'm still working on my morning list and we are about to hit lunch - but that's OK - the list making won't be needed most days!
If anyone is still following - well done!
All quiet on the financial front....0 -
Hi Mizmir,
Hmmmm Just checked out Workflowy. As an avid list writer I quite like it.
I have just created two headings Daily & Extras.
With the idea to get all the Daily jobs done and try to achieve an Extra in there as often as possible.
I am trying to download the app but it is taking forever to load.
Not sure if it is one of those things that I write one day and forget the next, but will try it out and see how it goes.
Love these new ideas for keeping us motivated. xx0 -
That sounds fascinating! I love the sound of that. I've got a focus for today, but down the road ... hmmm! Interesting2023: the year I get to buy a car0

You have been busy Miz and good to see how well things are going for you with the business too.
I'll have to look up Workflowy, sounds like it could be very useful for me too.
