Just checking in before I head out to get the dogs' food. Done a little shopping this morning and OH had a haircut - all within the budget. First week of the course has gone down a storm - very enthusiastic bunch - over 500 posts on the forum in just a week. Am enjoying it - enjoyed it last time but I was preparing it at the same time - that was quite pressured - but this time it is just a case of checking over the lessons and responding to their work on the forum. Good fun.

Have had a busy morning before the rain kicked in clearing out our shed and turning it into a video studio/equipment store for the business. We picked up an off cut of lino before Christmas so I laid that and I liberated an armchair from storage in the garage. Fitted the brackets to take my video paper back drops and sorted out my lights - so I am now set to film in there. Will be able to do more tutorial style videos and the chair is big enough to share with a dog so I can demo in comfort! Just hoping it all works - started raining so I haven't tested the lighting out there but hoping it will be OK. And there is room in there for all my training equipment so that is all on a pallet at one end. Very pleased with it all. Only problem is I won't be able to film in there in the rain - way too noisy! So will be dashing out to do a quick take in between showers!

Right - off to get the dog food before she closes.

Happy Monday everyone. Good weekend of getting sorted - with another workshop place sold plus a couple of people saying they want to come.

Have realised I tend to drift without hard deadlines - I have a long list of ideas of things to do for the business but nothing urgent so I end up doing none of it. Need to find a way to increase urgency!

Al fine on the financial front - no unpleasant surprises to start the week. Trip to Aldi later but just for a few top up things.

Thats brilliant! Just being analytical about it all, it means the cost per hour to you is going down, as your numbers go up :j excellent!

A weekly planning and listing session is called for, I think :D as I've just been blathering on my diary, I find lists incredibly helpful. I may not do it all, I may choose to do something else instead, they're deffo not written in stone, but its so helpful just to consciously think about what you want to achieve.

Present-time necessary achievement: cuppa tea, as I've just had lunch.

  • Wow what a fantastic few days you have had. That studio you have set up sounds fantastic. Another brilliant angle for your new business. :T.

Keep going you will be a millionaire soon. xxxxxx

I think I need to think about the different sorts of things I want to do as well as the actual things if you see what I mean. So for instance the sorts of things might be:
    • Service current business
    • Develop new aspects to the business
    • Work with existing clients
    • Get new clients
    • Learn new things
    • Practice hobbies and skills
    • Train dogs
    • Do house things
    • Manage finances
And then I would have a list of what I could do under each of those. Then a plan to do a subset of them each day (or even one of each!).
Or is it better to focus on one thing at a time?

You see - my problem is I can't even focus on list making! :D:o

Haha - that'll be the day! If I am I will remember all of you! :D

But seriously I will be quite content if I can get a decent and fairly reliable income coming in from this. I am certain it is possible. It is just a case of keeping going.

That's a perfect list for mind mapping with instead of list writing :D A much more creative way that might appeal, then you can prioritise from what falls out of it. Still might end up with a To Do list though when you get that far :rotfl:

I'm excited on your behalf, I LOVE doing that kind of thing! :rotfl:

I luuuurve lists, trouble is I don't get much crossed off them.:o

Sounds a fab starting point for lots of to do lists Mizmir. Makes me want to get list making. Think it all boils down to breaking it up into easily achievable chunks. If you feel like you are progressing quickly them you have the energy to keep going.

What is Mind Mapping Ali? That sounds interesting?

I definitely make sets of lists, absolutely - one each for the cat website, the novel, the DIY, the garden, stuff like that, in achievable chunks as Steph says. I prefer to keep them as lists, and not mindmap, my creativity in building on the lists comes in visual gestalts, it works for me... but a lot of people really like mind mapping, depends on whether it appeals for you.

Completely agree Karma, very much a case of what works for each individual.

Steph - mind mapping is more writing the subjects as Mizmir has within 'clouds' (for want of a better word!), then each time you think of something that links to it, write it down and draw a line to it - you get spin offs of those too and so on and ultimately a To Do list, just not an orderly one :rotfl:

It's also quite good for stepping back and looking at what stands out and often a list falls out of it.

I'm definitely a list lover when I know what I have to do, but mind mapping is good in that I'm not a natural ideas person and it does tend to draw things out of my brain.
