Paxo stuffing mix - mix with sausagemeat to make delicious meatloaf, bake in oven.

Add a few spoonsful to ordinary beef mince to add a bit of oomph, well my kids used to love it. Specially for shepherd's pie:D

Trifle is easy, use sponge fingers broken up, pour one one jelly and allow to set, make up the custard using a little less milk than it says, cool slightly and pour over the jelly, when that has set, whip up some cream and spread that over the top.

you could make a chilli with the chilli mix and turkey mince and serve with the macaroni.
  • I reckon you could eat for a couple of weeks with that lot, and get away with only spending a couple of quid!!

    1) Get some milk and cheese (£2ish) and do the old fave, Macaroni cheese - to make it extra tasty just throw in some bacon!!

    2) Then use the cheese to top a shepherds pie using up 1/2 a pack of mince, shepherds pie mix, onion, carrot, potatoes.

    3) Chinese chicken, with stirfry, and brown rice, make egg fried rice if you can!

    4) Haddock, mash/chips and mushy peas.

    5) Chilli con carne with brown rice. (OR - chilli con carne in fajitas!)

    6) Sausage, mash/chips & beans.

    7) Lasagne - you seem to have every ingrediant!!

    8) For trifle you need to buy some trifle sponges or boudoir biscuits, and a pack of jelly (£1ish)

    9) Sausage casserole (using any one of the packets, just put in less liquid) chuck in some onion, carrot, peas & mash some spuds!

    10) Get some porks chops (£2ish) to have the pepper and mushroom sauce, with the sweetcorn and some mash. (or if you fancy a treat get some steak, and have it with chips!!!)

    11) Pizza, chips and beans.

    12) Tikka masala with samosa's.

    13) Pasta bolognese.

    14) Veg soup bulked out with pasta - a bit like chunky minestrone, with your part baked bread rolls.

    15) Get some burger baps (80pish) for hamburgers/chicken burger and chips.

    16) The fishfingers have to go in a sandwich with some salad cream!!

I reckon thats used up quite a bit, and you have a few potential puddings there, with the tinned fruit and rice pudding!!

I might do a similar cupboard audit myself later, see whats lurking!! Excellent idea!!

Try making some stuffing balls and wrap in bacon, shove in the oven for about 35-40 mins, serve with mash and gravy....yumm.

Grate the cheese before it goes mouldy, and you can freeze it perfectly.

    Macaroni cheese:

Make cheese sauce: (not sure of quantities, check on deliaonline or sainsbury's recipes for measurements if needed)

put lump of marg in pan, melt.
Mix enough flour in so all the marg is soaked up, and it kind of balls up when you stir it.
Add a splash of milk, keep stirring till it goes thick.
Add more milk, keep stirring till it goes thick, and so on till it is the thickeness you want.
Add a good handful or two of grated cheese.

    Mix in the macaroni (cooked)

Put in a ovenproof dish, cover with cheese and breadcrumbs if you have any.

Bake/grill till the topping is crispy.

    yummy yummy yummy
