You're right but I do think that people should realise that pregnancy is always a possibility however remote and have thought about how they would deal with it should an unplanned pregnancy occur.
Of course, I think that's the choice you make when you have sex.

First point of call will always be contraception for me. Should that fail then the morning after pill. If god forbid that failed though, I would have to consider other options.

I could easily live without sex, but why should I have to when we have good contraception and the MAP? The mirena coil is pretty effective. I'm willing to take the chance.

    Pill' condom and spermicide?

    Coil, condom spermicide?
Injection condom spermicide (can you tell I thought and then got stuck on a theme)?

My other theoretical options included rhythm method, and withdrawal. But if you're using a physical barrier, a hormone one and something else too I don't see these would be of significant benefit other than mindful approach.

( I ha e no idea if those would actually be recommended together btw, I don't use the coil and found the pill didn't suit me so have not used other hormonal methods of contraception )

Implant, pill and condoms - quite common to have the pill alongside the implant to control side effects of the latter, plus you'd hopefully be using condoms with any new partner.

They would only give you the pill alongside the implant IF you had problems with bleeding for example. They're not just going to give you both otherwise. And I doubt many of those women would want to take the pill if they didn't need to, hence why theyve picked a long term method like the implant - to avoid taking the pill!
  • Thinking about this, seeing as abstaining is the only 100% method of avoiding pregnancy, how many relationships realistically could survive without sex? It's pretty much human desire to have sex and seeing as we're the only mammals (aside from dolphins I think) who do it for pleasure as well as procreation, why shouldn't we? We have methods that are close to 100% so I think really if you take precautions why shouldn't you have a happy and fulfilling sex life?

I have no idea where I'm going with this but it just bugs me that some people seem to think you shouldn't have sex unless you're willing to get pregnant

Admits to the thought that I wonder if Cruella is extremely fertile. Because, if she is, then presumably she only had sex twice or not much more than that anyway. Result = two children and that's that hubbie/forget about a sexlife now.

Looks like you answered your own question there

But I accepted it was my responsibility. I was glad when I could get free contraception but I saw it as a great priviledge to get it, now it is all taken for granted you can have what you want when you want it and someone else pays.

Im sure there is all stuff we dont like paying for.

I never said I didn't like paying for it, I was thankful when I got the pill free. I said I don't understand why it is free, when you think how short of money the NHS is, people not getting drugs they need to live, would it hurt for people to pay something, maybe normal prescription charge to get the pill? If people were eligible for free prescriptions then they would get free contraception. Someone earing £50k could easily buy their own condoms or pay a prescription charge.

Vegetables aren't medicines or medical procedures.

I've never had a fire or been a victim of crime, maybe I should get a refund on all those taxes that have paid for the police and fire services!

So is a condom a medicine? or medical procedure? I don't know where the refund came from, it wasn't anything I mentioned.

I didn't realise you could have the implant and pill, I thought both being hormonal it would be overdosing. I thought 3 would be something like pill, condom and spermicide. Generally I thought the advice was 2 methods if you needed to be as close to 100% as possible.

First you send me a sneaky little private message - now you persist in the name calling.

That really is childish - but, hey, if it makes you feel big and clever...
