Well one solution would be to put all the under 35 currently living in their own place in social housing into those empty 3 beds therefore freeing up loads properties.

I my opinion the hardest part of getting an extra room for those disabled who need it is defining those who you class as disabled, I am sure the 63% comes from the survey where everyone covered by the equality act(including those with a stutter) are included.

I totally agree with Princess in that it should be fair for everyone it shouldn't matter who your landlord is.

Recently I just got accepted for PIP and I am completely shocked by how much extra money I have received, I think its great and now have my heating on :D, but I think part of this money could be used to pay for the reduction in benefits.
Play nice  Just because I am paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get me.:j

Well the rents obviously meet the LHA allowance.
    So where are you?

Why do you need to know where I live? I have no need to move as I own my home outright, thank you very much :)

i recently had my DLA raised, and was also amazed at the income diffrtrmcr it made.
at the same time i am mindful of those on minimal incomes ( low rate care and mobility on ESA WRAG get £140 a week)
paying £14 a week for a room they neither want or need, purely because there is no alternative, is a big deal!

Apparently there will be plenty of empty properties to rent in Romania and Bulgaria

There certainly will be lots if empty properties in Romania and Bulgaria with Unite union; Labour's biggest doner; already offering to show those citizens how to claim benefits in the UK. Labour once again, keen to import more Labour voters to the UK.
    - perhaps we could swap our unemployed with Bulgaria and Romanian workers?

What made you think they are "our" welfare claimants?

    28 Aug 2013
The number of foreign nationals claiming benefits such as Jobseeker's Allowance has jumped by 40 per cent in just four years to more than 400,000, new governmnet figures has disclosed.

Data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), released under the Freedom of Information Act, showed a sharp rise in the number of claims by immigrants from eastern European countries.

And the really scary bit as Housing Benefit and Tax Credits are our 2nd and 3rd biggest welfare bill :-

“Furthermore, these latest figures do not include working tax credit or housing benefit

RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Two issues here is how do you define the "no alternative" and 14 out of 140 is a lot better than 14 out of 71.

my area has two 1 bed social housing prop[erties. i harrassed my HA into giving me one ( until may there were no 1 bed properties, but 2 were reclassified from supported housing for young people to general housing)
and yes £140 is a lot more than £71. but those on JSA have more hope of employment than those who cannot work through disability.
being jobless is hopefully shorterm. many disabilitys are forever

    guff

hows about you quit putting your party allegiance to one side and think about the real people who are suffering because of this policy?

As for the thread in general...

Its sad and sickening to see people so deluded by party politics that they are happy to see disabled people suffer.

I notice one person even genuinely thinks they are "moral" which is fascinating to read, just how moral can it be to support the suffering of those we should be supporting. To me this person is living in a dream world where they think they are on some higher plain of moral thinking, but the reality is just sad, they cant think about other people. Healthy, happy and balanced people don't think along those lines.

Anyone who comes here to push their party politics or twisted view about those on disability have far bigger issues in their own head they should be addressing.

Again, this is not party political (or even political) this is basic decency. Don't for a second think that deluded unpleasant guff can be twisted into a logical and reasoned debate. Don't hid behind party politics when really people are just broken and thoroughly unpleasant human beings. I am fully aware those in power are fostering such repugnant broken mindsets, but the rest of us in this country can see through it and just see unpleasant broken little people.

I am sick to the back teeth of damaged cretins using their obvious personal issues to push more rubbish onto those who we should be supporting. Your damaged goods if you do that and dont for a second think your getting away with taking an elevated political stance as that's just the deluded guff people come out with to justify their own broken little heads.

anyway, to those who do this, back to your bashing of the disabled, what the heck has gone wrong that you need to do that to make yourself feel good...

my original post was making the point that I had done what the government wanted by moving to a smaller property but in the process had made myself worse off, and this new development ie the loophole had just rubbed salt in the wound.

I am also now working full time and paying all my own rent and council atx, which is more expensive!!!

So private lets cost more than social housing.
so what would family needing a 3 bedroom do if the likes of people in your situation were sitting pretty with 2 empty(not spare) rooms?
