3/16 this morning please ShaggyTrying to keep in budget.

I'm doing well so far - no drinking at all this month so I'm on 6/22 though that was helped by having a cold over the weekend.0

I guess the obvious answer would be the booze, because for me I very rarely drank without snacking surely that's what two hands are for:rotfl:.

I got 10, but I wasn't sure how to answer some of the questions - e.g. whether my answer should relate to things that have happened in the present or the past. I maybe would have been a bit lower if I had answered with a different view.
I felt the same. There were questions I wanted to put 'Sometimes' or 'Occasionally' or 'Once.' I decided that meant Yes for me because the time for !!!!!footing around had ended.
The issue about the definition of the word 'alcoholic' comes into play with tests like that and for as long as I could kid myself the effect of booze was occasional or sporadic I could argue I didn't have a problem. Coupled with that absolutely everybody I knew drank as much, and as often, as I did, so if we all had a problem surely someone else would have said something.
So, as it was my life that was turning a bit chaotic I just decided to confront the situation and leave the worrying about 'Sometimes' or 'Occasionally' or 'Once' and whether I am an alcoholic to a later date. I'll get round to it sometime. Maybe. If I can be bothered. If it ever matters.Tiny had his first day at nursery today (well, morning) and I got three whole hours to myself, with no children! Guess what? I did the ironing :rotfl:
Actually, today I feel less stressed and tired. Chest still hurts, but not so badly and boys are back into routine. Ah, that's better...
6/30 for me please Shaggy x
I did the test on the link too Honey Bear. I "only" got 6, but it still said I was at risk of having a problemI am glad to have nipped my drinking in the bud now before it became worse. I do have a wedding and weekend catch-up with friends and family this month, but I am determined to be controlled and just have one or two drinks over the whole celebration period. My biggest drinking pal will be there though, so she will need reining in lol
I bet the stack of ironing looks fab! Ditto what I've said above about the test. (The woman who wrote the book where I found it said that when she did it, her score was 16 and initially she thought 'Great! Only 16, so I'm not that bad.') To be honest, Dizzy, while you were going through the huge stresses of flood/puppies/caravan living it sounds as though you tried to self-medicate with alcohol, learned pretty quickly that it doesn't work, and did something about it. That doesn't mean you have a serious problem and if you can moderate and enjoy social drinking, go for it.
7/30 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
3/15 for me please Shaggy.0

That's what I think too. When I started on this thread there seemed to be some pressure to admit to being alcoholic along the 'why else join the thread?' theme. I found/find that particularly unhelpful. I considered leaving but along with judicious use of the ignore button I persevered and have achieved what I wanted.:D I think what matters is that if you want to bring about change in your drinking habits, this thread can help.
3 AFDs please Shaggy.0 -
Afternoon
1 AFD for Tuesday.
Yesterday was a planned AFD too but ended up being a ALD as it was one of those "really !!!!!!" news days. My lovely S-i-L (she's 50) has breast cancer (long term posters will know that my sister was diagnosed with BC 3 and half years ago - she's fine now) - the doctors are optimistic that SiL's BC has been caught early and she will be fine - but nevertheless it's all a bit shocking. She has to have a lumpectomy next week followed by chemo (a non-aggressive type according to my brother).
Anyway, hoping to jump back on the wagon when it comes galloping past this evening.
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
