What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

4/20 for me now please. 4 days in a row (Mon-Thur) has become the norm now for me. I wish I could say it is easy, but I could really have done with a drink on Weds night, but I didn't give in.

Intention is to do 2 AD and 1 AFD by Monday. Whether I will succeed is a different matter! At the very least I want to cut down on the number of units consumed this weekend.
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

Just back from a show in town. I was driving but treated myself to a glass of wine, which I really enjoyed, beforehand. Tempted to have a night cap now I'm home but will limit myself to a cup of tea.

Pleasure, Maman. We're off to France on a 24 hour jaunt on Monday night. I'll give Roscoff a wave for you.

Hope the cup of tea did the trick, DoshWaster.

Before I got the news about my SiL I meant to post about this weeks episode of Ross Kemp's Britain which was about alcohol consumption (Sky One). There was an interview with a middle age nurse on the program who is/was drinking half a litre of vodka a day - she said she couldn't stop drinking because all her friends drank and she would be friendless if she stopped drinking. How mad/sad is that.

Worth a watch if you can find it on catch up somewhere.

Sadly not a channel that we have access to, but I'd watch any programme about drinking now if I could simply to reinforce the message. Other than soap operas pretty much every fictional drama normalises drinking booze, to such an extent that anyone having a mug of tea or coffee seems abnormal now. How we show women who have a stressful job? Pour a glass of wine as soon as they get home. Job done. It would take a brave scriptwriter/director nowadays who showed her putting the kettle on instead. Rare non-fictional programmes about the reality of what's happening out there now are a drop of commonsense in the ocean of booze.

How sad (and frightening) that a person intelligent enough to qualify as a nurse (and hopefully together enough to do her job well but that's another story) thinks that sinking half a litre of vodka is normal - and the only way that she has enough in common with other people to be able to be in their company.

Well done for making it through, Elusive Lucy. You're breaking a habit. It does get easier if you stick with it. Promise.

    9/30 please, Shaggy.
