Mimizan used to have a smelly paper factory. I once Eurocamped about 5 miles away (out of range of the smells), and the lake on the campsite was superb for learning to windsurf as its deepest point was only chest height. Europe's tallest sand dune is in that vicinity, too. Climbing that was a workout.
I went there too. It's at Arcachon, great fun!!
Agree about smelly Mimizan but, like you, we were outside in a lovely house surrounded by trees.0 -
3/31. Oooh, nearly 10% then, and nine days sober.Better is good enough.0

Good to see you back here Alex.
Being AF at a weekend is a good start, maybe you'll set a target when you're in a better place.
One of the things I love about this thread is feeling in control.0 -
Good Morning! Nice to see you back Alex.
Just checking in with day 2/21.Trying to keep in budget.

15 total for July, please, Shaggy. And target of 20 for August, please
Not happy with my result for July, but we did go on hols for a week, and although I didn't overdo it (amazingly), I had a couple of glasses of wine every evening. We went to the Barcelona coast, visiting Barcelona 3 times - it was a superb holiday, didn't want to leave the Med! DD3 is working there for 5 weeks, and DH and I went to see her with DD1 and DD2 - the first family hol for several years, I was very apprehensive, but it worked out very well, and we had a lovely time all together.
Off to Normandy in Sept, then dropping DD2 off in Paris, where she is spending her year abroad. I will have to go to visit her quite often - poor moi!!!
Have a good week everybody xx0 -
That's not too bad considering the holiday pricey. Stop beating yourself up. If visiting Paris all gets too much for you give us a shout!;)
I'm definitely going to be AF today, first for this month.
1 AFD please Shaggy.0 -

Hi Alex, if I may be so bold as to introduce myself. I'm reading the thread from the start and you are amazing! I'm sorry you're not in a good place at the moment.
Downside to giving up alcohol: On the tenth day, your sense of smell has improved so much you can smell the bin lorry from your office, a good 20m away from where it is being fed. Yikes.Better is good enough.0 -
Honey Bear: I would certainly not go so far as to say I am "amazing".2018 totals:
Savings £11,200
Mortgage Overpayments £5,5000
