Well done on the weight loss Shaggy! :T
Wow, a 12 mile run 5 Year Plan - nearly a half marathon! :T I've thought the same about using the Sorelle etc as a wine substitute, whether I'm kind of "cheating" but who cares if it's making us drink less alcohol!
10/19 AFDS now please Shaggy. I'll be drinking tomorrow as going to watch the tennis, then will be AF on Friday. Then on Saturday am going to Majorca for a week, so defo not alcohol free then! Will have some catching up to do at the end of the month to make my target!
Lovely evening here...makes me want a drink. Might just have a glass of Sorelle0 -
Hi everyone, 3 more for me so far this week so 8/14 please to the slimline Shaggy!!
I find soft drinks too sweet too but enjoyed apple & soda, tonic on it's own, lime and soda and I'm addicted to the Ginger and Lemongrass flavour bottle green stuff.
What I wanted to say is when I was having a Becks Blue I worried about whether it would mean the craving and wanting to drink was still there. I have found myself occasionally having one in the pub but haven't tried Sorelle and don't have the substitutes at home. I don't want my not drinking to be difficult, done through gritted teeth or pacing, I want not to want to drink and I worried the fake ones would slow my progress. Good grief well done if you made sense of that! I have been pleased that as I increased my habit of not drinking I think less and want to drink less. Conversely after a boozy weekend I find I have a pacing listless evening sometimes.
Stopping typing now! Sleep well everyone.0 -
Thanks 5-year plan, it may be a few days before DS2 is ready / able to speak to me, but I do feel I gave DS1 the right advice about this issue. Hope you are ok.
8/21 AFDs for me, mostly because I didn't arrive home until nearly 10pm after a very long drive. I'm ready for a sleep in my own bed. Night night. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -

I followed that (just;)) wbf. I'm another that finds lots of soft drinks too sweet which is why my chosen tipple when practising AF days was fizzy water. At the same time as cutting down I was trying to lose weight and my temptations were all about things like crisps and cheese rather than chocolate. I wonder if there is some predilection to savoury stuff?0 -
Hooray. 6/14:T
A bit self congratulatory I realise, with the clapping hands, but had to fight the devil drink off with a sharpened axe! Or maybe it was just a trip to the gym! Whichever, I clocked up another night.
5-year plan you are amazing! 12 mile run eh? I can just about get up the stairs!
Been awake since 4.45am. So far I've fed the cat, ironed a shirt, tidied the kitchen, made sandwiches and poached eggs for DH breakfast. Not to mention coming on here and having a shower. Now what shall I do? I'm not leaving for work until 7.00. Coffee and listen to the birds I think! Or maybe hassle kids out to exams!
Good luck today everyone.
Kind regards
Slowdown:)0 -

Hi All
I am still doing ok, easier than I thought it would be, I will probably find it harder come the weekend but I won't drink alcohol when I am looking after a wee baby, she will give me plenty to smile about & keep my mind off it I am sure. I wont be drinking again tonight due to meds so can I declare an early 5/17please Shaggy
Slowdown - well done on resisting, that is a well deserved :T for you, not sure if I could have been that strong, perhaps one day.:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Good morning all you lovely people :hello:
Im sorry I know I said my posts would not be chapters in books but I was so fired up with enthusiam by reading posts from yesterday/this morning that I have just let rip
Slowdown/Chardonnay - My hobby, I suppose, is fitness. All my kids are up and away so I have all the time in the world to pander to my hobby. I kidded myself last year, when I was training for the London mara that I was fit, but not this kinda of fit...but I do have to say and will always say it is you lot that have made the difference :j
maman/chardonnay - After reading the supportive posts from the other day and actually just clearing my mind of any worries that I am cheating myself - I am truly not craving any alcohol. I was out for dinner with my DD last night to a BYO and I brought Sorelle (white) and was more than happy to pay the £1.50 corkage. Not once did I feel I was cheated or craved the feeling of the rush of alcohol...I know it is not the cheapest but it so works for me. Obviously you cant get 0% wine when out in a pub so Im happy to drink Becks Blue or Erdinger
satchmo1 - Thank you for asking Im great and in a really good place. It will all work out in the end with the kids - I always said we needed a book after the 3rd stage of labour and toddler taming :rotfl:maybe this forum is it
Wanna Bee Free - Just go for it and if a Becks Blue means not waking up with a hangover and the associated crap that goes with it then clear your mind and enjoy. I also have recognised the 'waves of depression/confusion/self loathing' that drinking sessions can cause so I tell myself 'you caused this' and 'just ride them' they will pass and they do quicker if I dont dwell on the rubbish that I start thinking.
Chardonnay - Have a fantastic holiday and hey there's nothing wrong with throwing a few Becks Blue down your throat when you are away
To the rest of you - just wanna say a massive thankyou
Shaggy - please mark me down for 4/23
Have a great day everyone :grouphug:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Definitely not drinking tonight.
5 AFDs please Shaggy.
Not seen you for a few days Alex, hope you're OK?:)0 -
Enjoying a drink with DH (after mending a misunderstanding), and all's well with the world. Spoke to DS2 tonight, and he's fine - so that's another fence mended. Stage 3 toddlers tamed for now :-)What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
