    Hi All

Slowdown - I agree with Maman re your friend, that is her choice to not drink, I really hate people that are ex-smokers/drinkers etc & try & preach their opinion on others.

I too hope to one day have a drink & know when to stop, but it feels a long way off, I was feeling the pull last night & quite down because I know I can't drink on these tablets. I was thinking "What is wrong with me??"

Both my parents were alcoholics, my mum left when I was 10 & I only found out a few years ago that she had died (through alcohol). My dad was in & out of rehab centres all the time & eventually it led to us being taken into care & then my Aunt took my 2 sisters & I in :A. I dont speak with him now, for different reasons. I was never a 'drinker' as such until I had the kids, probably more so after my DS was born a glass turned into 2 then a bottle etc etc.

I just want to know I can have a glass of wine in the house or when I am out & stop at that, at the moment, after the bottle of wine is done I will drink anything I can get my hands on :o.

But I had wine on Monday & have not had anything since :D I am not sure that would have been the case if I wasnt on these tablets. I have physio tonight at 7.20- to see if she can 'fix' me so still off the booze, & I would wait a full 24 hours after stopping these tablets before having anything so its been a blessing in disguise for me & I am having wee precious to stay overnight tomorrow so no wine then either. I cannot tell you the last time I didn't drink at the weekend . I will be fine though :D.

So declaring tonight early again, can you put me down for 6/17 please Shaggy :A

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

There are some really interesting and supportive posts here at the moment - thanks to everybody, reading similar experiences to my own certainly makes me feel more 'normal'!

    9/21 AFDs for me.

I've just coloured my hair and I'm now quite "red". It's lovely (well, me and my DH think so, which is all that matters).
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

10/21 for today please. Tried the rose Sorelle today - bit sweet but great substitute for alcohol. Many thanks to those who suggested it.
