Cuppatea,, know the down feeling as well , feel like I'm in limbo , but not the dance type! Life can be cruel , and very hard at times,
I always think if I never had bad times I wouldn't recognise the times when they come !

Although it's always been named as giving-up/cutting down there were problem drinkers on there back then who couldn't accept that not everyone was the same. I admire anyone who wants to give up completely and has the willpower to do so but that doesn't mean I want to do the same. I still have a poster on my ignore list (hardly a list, just one person) from back in the day as I got so fed up with the implication that I was an alcoholic that wouldn't admit it.

I'm totally with you, Maman. I can't understand why anyone would think that lecturing and hectoring people will produce beneficial results.

Thinking back to my smoking days, I had a very strong urge to slap people who told me that I should stop, and quite often they were really nasty about it, too, which in itself is unacceptable. We wouldn't dream of speaking that way to people who were seriously overweight. It never, ever produces positive results.

It's really important that if we want to be successful at reducing harm to themselves, we need to want to stop the behaviour, make the decision ourselves for our own reasons and then seek support so that when we falter we can be assured that we'll get the motivation back to carry on with our chosen course. Anyone who thinks that making those decisions on behalf of someone else will get long-term beneficial results is wasting their energy.

I'm not saying crisis intervention isn't warranted, but lets face it, everyone who is here is here by choice, they're motivated enough to have a jolly good stab at it and if it doesn't quite work out exactly as intended, next time it probably will. I'm acutely conscious of the people who join us, give it a bit of a stab for a day or two and disappear. I was one of them.
Bit disappointed this week as I only recorded a half pound loss at Slimming World, and I thought by cutting out alcohol it might have been better. Annoyed with myself for bingeing over holiday and Christmas as I still have a lot of weight to lose to get back to my November pre-holiday weight (5.5lbs). I am determined though and have next holiday booked for May so that will drive me on. I couldn't think about going on a beach in a bikini at the moment! Aiming for a stone loss before hols which will be a challenge. Might need to keep the AF going a bit longer if the weight does start to drop off

5.5lbs isn't a huge amount, Elusive Lucy. I want to lose 4lbs by the middle of next month, so I'm hoping that cutting out sugar will do it. Giving up the booze on it's own isn't enough for me. Good luck with it.

I am also going through the divorce process, i've had my nisi through and just a week or so to go until the absolute. I'll be glad in one way when its all over as the solicitors are costing me a fortune, but its sad too.

I've felt very flat and down this week, I know why, but I can't seem to shake it off. I'm am trying to see the good in things and remain positive, but its difficult when the things I am trying to achieve are out of reach. I don't want to say more than that.

Sorry to hear about the divorce, Cuppa Tea. Horrible for you. I hope the other matter that currently seems out of reach starts to fall into place for you very soon.

20/31 please, Shaggy. Nine years! Wow. Talk about loyalty. Thank you so much.
    Better is good enough.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

What have we given birth to!!!

Early on today I was reading about goal setting - the article said share your goal with someone and then they can cheer you on as you progress towards your target - I guess that is why this thread works.
