The Giving Up/ Cutting Down alcohol support thread - number 13

So, I had a couple of drinks last night. (Actually 3) with my daughter, sons, husband and one of my son's girlfriend last night. It was a lovely evening and culminated in playing a few games which was great. I don't regret it, even though I'll be a day down on my target.
I'll be having a couple today as its my DS2's 18th birthday and we're having a family bbq. Really looking forward to it.
Then it's back on the wagon until Friday.
Well done to all those who've abstained or stuck to their drinking targets.
Kind regards

And if yr planning on cutting down not stop completely that all sounds reasonable to me. You have exercised control and yr stop button. Go u!Live for the moment and plan for the future0

Every single drink we don't have that we would have quafffed without thinking about it twice is a victory. I'm pretty sure that there's a stage before alcohol becomes a problem that it's just a really bad habit, and if I hadn't got out at the stage it wouldn't have been very long before the addiction side of it caught up with me. But, as I say, if you drink mindfully, as opposed to mindlessly as I used to, you're on your way.
Lovely to see returners and new people contributing. I think ManPants said he was planning a holiday so maybe that's why we haven't heard from him. Maybe Satchmo and Piggles are, too.
27/31 please, Shaggy and 30 for September. Thank you.
PS This low GI thing really works! Thank you so much for suggesting it. Favourite lunch - Jamie Oliver's Lentil Dhal. I cook up one batch and it keeps beautifully in the fridge for a few days so I don't have to think about what I'm having every day. Perfect.Better is good enough.0 -
14/10 please Shaggy and 15 for Sept0

I can see an underlying competitive nature with regards to how many alcohol free days people can rack up. It can only be a good thing!0

Early call, but 22/24 AFDs today0

Really? I've never noticed. The only person I'm competing with is myself and my targets. Where i position in relation to others is of no interest to me. Hearing other people having AF days is motivating to me though.Live for the moment and plan for the future0 -

I decided to buy a bottle of wine yesterday. After 8 Af days i knew i had to be careful. I had a glass in the sunshine whilst reading my book. Rather than knocking it back like I'd done the week before i savoured it. I then waited and had a second glass with my dinner. I really didn't want any more after that. Was a bit squiffy and didn't want to go over my tolerance. Ive enjoyed my hangover free mornings. Really chuffed with myself i had a stop button which was genuinely activated by me rather than circumstances.
This is what I've been aiming for. Hope i can keep it up. I have a little over half a bottle waiting for another day.
Hope everyone is having a fab bh weekend.Live for the moment and plan for the future0
