The Giving Up/ Cutting Down alcohol support thread - number 13

Hi everyone,
This isn't the first time I've popped in here but it's been awhile.
So.... I've woken up with a bit of a hangover today. And I need to get this drinking thing under control. I work in a school and for the period of the summer holidays I've probably clocked up half a dozen AF days. Not good.
I'm very active, do lots of walking, go to the gym etc and I'm a reasonably bright individual but when it comes to the drink, well I'm lacking in intelligence and the ability to say no. Plus, I like it. I enjoy it. Not a good combo.
Thus I am ready to cut down, mainly for the sake of my future health.
I worry about the effect on my body and yet I still go ahead. Some nights it's just one drink. Others it more like half a dozen.
So I'm really wanting to pledge to cut down, to ask for everyone's support on here and to ask to be listed for 7/8 AF days until the end of August and then 19/30 for September.
On the days I do drink I am going to try and limit myself to two. There are two days of exception though. My son's 18th and my 50th. I think I may well end up with more than two on those nights.
Thank you for letting me join your thread. I'm hoping it will help me again, just as it did once before.
Kind regards
SlowdownYou're on the list and Good Luck!

Hi Everyone
You may remember me from lots and lots and LOTS of previous threads, where i could NEVER stick to even 10 days a month AF.
Well, thanks to this thread, i realised i really had a problem with alcohol. So i decided to do something about it. I went to get some professional help and am really pleased to say that i haven't touched a drop of alcohol in over 6 months!
I've not gone this long in my entire adult life, and honestly have no real cravings for it anymore. Occasionally i might see some on offer in the supermarket and think "i'd love a glass of red tonight", but i know too well that i wouldn't stop at a glass.
So it's better just not to start at all.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who supported me many times on this thread, your efforts were not wasted!0 -
19/31 for me, although I'm fighting a strong desire to get trollied after seeing something on FB that has made me feel rubbish.
BIG HUG! Ignore them - life is too short! Count your blessings......What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. 9/18 for me for last night and planning to get into double figures tonight. Not been a good month but last night I had AF wine and I think it helped. I felt like I was having a drink but with none of the side effects and it wasn't too calorific either. OK it wasn't a brilliant taste, but it wasn't too bad! Might have to buy some more of that if it will help me wean myself off mid-week drinking. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0
