Don't hesitate to let me know if I've made a mistake! What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
I'm sure no one minds your posts, that's what we're here for.
Well said!!:T
My OH still drinks daily but he never drank as much as me so I don't think he has a problem. He occasionally says 'You're being good' when he offers me a drink and I tell him he could 'be good' too if he chooses otherwise we don't discuss it. I've never tried to make him stop that's his choice to make if he wants to. I think the comments come from the feeling that there's implicit criticism of their behaviour when you don't drink.
More planned drinking tonight as I'm out to dinner but will get another AF day in this week.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
1 AFD for last night please Shaggy.
MP - your comments re your DH is very similar to me, and I wrote something along the same lines to you several weeks ago, bottom line is that it is very difficult.
In order to avoid being tempted I have: sat in a different room (not obvious as we like watching different TV:D), gone to bed early, and even taken the dog out for extra walks! He just carries on, even though he claims he is cutting down. I think over the last few weeks he actually has a bit, so I do think things might be getting there in terms of reducing his units. I hope you and your OH find common ground, I'm sure you will.

I'm so glad it wasn't just me that found Aurelie's revolting 'boyf' totally beyond the pale. Made me ashamed to be English.
Thank you for my smilie, Shaggy, and 12/31 please.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning 8/31 AF to report.
Other Half came in last night and announced he was going to have a glass of wine as he had had an awful day. I said nothing as I had used up my nagging the day before. I do fully understand your points Cathybear, Maman, Arkers and HoneyBear RE: quitting alcohol and having an OH that still drinks, perhaps heavier than guidelines would suggest, and the fine line between being a sanctimonious nag and a concerned partner.
There is another massive issue behind this partner nagging which I won't get into now, but will come to light in the next few months or so. Then I think you will understand my concerns. Don't even start me on my smoking concerns!!
Packing for weekend away. Normally this would be a massive drinking opportunity but I have already warned everyone I'm not drinking due to my gym regime and "shredding" for the summer. This appears to have been accepted but I am aware that crates of Prosecco are additionally going. I know I can't falter at this point but the little butterfly surge of excitement when I've justified drinking in my head will be there if I don't stick resolute to not drinking. I went to a wedding recently where I knew I couldn't drink and first whiff of fizz and I was gone.
Next day as I pieced the night together, I was massively ashamed having spanked the Brides' Mothers bottom in celebration of her undergarment choice, touched up the best man (straight) and told another guest I loved her hooker shoes:eek:. The couple are still talking to me although I suspect there won't be a christening invitation.
Have a great thursday everyone.

Oh dear _pale_ Reading this, it sounds funny, but I [STRIKE]suspect[/STRIKE] know the reality isn't at all. Good luck for your weekend away x
I get my first smiley today as last night was AF. 7/28 for me please Shaggy x
Happy Thursday lovelies xxx0 -
7/15 for me please Shaggy
and also a treat-free day.
Yesterday had two G&T's (single shot) and about 300ml or so of red wine - close to half the bottle. Probably too much. Not hungover today though I must say, quite clear-headed.
ManPants, not wishing to encourage you but as a wedding guest one thing you're clearly not is dullHave to agree with Dizzy though, I'm guessing the reality probably isn't quite so amusing, sadly! I still cringe inwardly over some of the things I did when I was drunk more than 20 years ago.

Good morning everyone,
10 AFD please Shaggy.
MP - sorry I am still laughing at your wedding antics!!! Please forgive me, and in the meantime I hope you have a lovely weekend away.
We are off to Spain for a few days in a couple of weeks, so I have set my target fairly low this month.
