    Morning Everyone,

NewME & CuppaTea, you can do it and you can get those numbers up. I had a poor Feb, March and an abysmal April but May going a lot better.

Last night I made myself designated driver again so despite the Gins and Champagnes flowing freely & abundantly, I stuck to water throughout. I think the car is becoming my best non -drinking accessory at the mo and as its fresh off the assembly line people think I'm wanting to show it off rather than use it to curb my alcoholism. 6/31 AF completed consecutively taking me tonight to a full week. Last time I "fell", it was at day 7 and that started me off on another bender.

I have OH persuaded to be AF himself tonight. Whether he manages it or not is another matter. He drinks every day without fail in a very upper - class way with a few stiff Gins before dinner, wine with dinner then a stiff Cognac or Whiskey before bed. As he has a stop button he doesn't think he has a problem. I actually think he has dependency issues with alcohol. I can almost guarantee despite our conversation this morning he will come in tonight and reach for the Gin, pour himself a measure and say he is "only having the one". In the morning, despite the fact he will have had 2 or 3 stiff gins he will say something as he is getting ready for work like "I feel so much better from not drinking last night". The 6 or 7 shots of Gin in 2 or 3 glasses he will have had he doesn't even count as drinking.

Hope you all have an amazing day! :-)

Morning all on this lovely drizzly rainy day (round these parts!) 6/15 for me please Shaggy. :) I had a most lovely meal last night, I had mackerel with lime and chilli, lots of salad greens and some steamed asparagus, followed by some strawberries for dessert, so actually I felt that my no-treat day was full of treats even though I didn't have any of the banned treats. The strawberries this spring seem really delicious and I love asparagus, so that helps. Having said all that I am looking forward to some chocolate today (in fact it was my first thought waking up - "yay!! chocolate!!!" :)

Just checking - are peanut butter sandwiches treats...? No? Ah....

Well yes and no, I'd say. I know the fitness m@f!a (no idea why MSE doesn't like that word) regard carbs as the enemy but I don't and peanut butter is more likely to do you some good than a ginger hobnob would. So, on balance, if it stopped you eating or drinking cr*p and felt like a treat I wouldn't beat myself up if I'd eaten it.

Well done on finding a strategy that works for you, ManPants and it sounds as though it's making sober life much more straightforward. Excellent.

There are some people who can sink a vast amount of alcohol without seeming to be affected by it, but Wow! is all I can say about the amount your partner drinks. Does he ever give his liver a day off?

From the information you've shared with us it sounds as though your social life as a couple is structured around booze, and if your friends are all drinking at that rate too it would seem normal to the people involved. It sounds to me that you, by consciously not imbibing sometimes, are beginning to get a different perspective.

    10/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

cuppaTea you can join me, I'm only on 2 :) hopefully we can see those numbers increase together

Thanks NewMe, it will be helpful. Resolve should stay for today too as I have nothing in the house and no plans to go out. Plus I don't want any, I still feel my body needs to recover.

It seems that what other people can comfortably drink and get up the next day on is different to mine. I can no longer drink most nights of the week and get away with it. The pendulum has swung against alcohol and I need to have a predominent say 5:2 AF week.

Going to call in for 1 more day making 4 please Shaggy.

Hope you stay AF too NM!

I think the talk of sandwiches got to me. I was out for a planned drink and a buffet was laid on. I ate two sandwiches.Very healthy sandwiches but I'd had dinner and was just being greedy. I'm more cross about them than the drink.
