I love, love, love waking up feeling pain-free and I don't think that feeling's ever going to change. Unfortuantely for me, I don't seem to be doing as well as you on the Treat-Free Day thing. I found out the Co-op is doing two chocolate oranges for £2, and the other thing I found out is that it is perfectly possible for one person to eat one whole orange in one sitting.
Honey Bear, I don't love the combined flavours of choc and orange, otherwise I'd join you in eating one in one sittingI can well be like that with anything involving chocolate and caramel. I can't keep it in the house. Chocolate and ginger is another favourite combination and I may have to check out these Twinkses that have been frequently mentioned on this thread!

Reporting a glass of red wine with lunch yesterday at my SiL's but politely declined a refill. When asked why, I was honest and said I had been drinking too much and needed to change my habits. Eyebrows raised but explanation accepted without further comment. I really enjoyed the glass too which I may not have done before, as I'd be quaffing without pause...
Ah, so Twinks are biscuits Honey Bear...Thanks for the linky
Sorry to hear you're having a rough time ATM New Me. Sending hugs for a better time this week xxx0 -
Morning all! 5/15 for me please Shaggy. Also, it's another treat-free day.
Yesterday I drank 500ml of wine all up - was measuring as I went - so the equivalent of two large glasses, basically. I had a small glass at lunch and the rest with dinner. I also drank a ginger beer and rum drink at about 6pm (one shot). So a bit more than the day before and I also had the thought, when I was done after dinner, "I'll have another shot or two of rum, oh that's a good idea" before thinking "NO IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA". It was interesting that my tolerance had gone up from the day before but also that the instinctive "that's enough" did kick in (fortunately). I can only assume it's having the days off that reduces the tolerance and they're therefore the key to the whole thing. Every time I don't have a day off the day before, my resistance is weaker, and the urge is stronger.
Anyway, have woken up clear-headed and fine and am now looking forward to my AFD!0 -
Sorry been MIA for the past few days. It feels as if I've got off to a really bad start this month but I am thinking of you all.
Definitely going to be AF today.
I was treat free last night. So no chocolate or crisps or similar passed my lips. It may seem odd to some that I can call a drinking day treat free but it makes sense to me. I was falling into a bad habit of either rewarding myself with chocolate on AF days or fancying crisps or other snacks when resolve was lowered through drinking. I never snack during the day so it's just evenings I need to watch.

Morning
5/31 AF so far and 5th successful consecutive day. Temptation & opportunity yesterday firstly through a lunchtime function where Prosecco was being given out freely. I know that Champagne/Prosecco always starts civilised for me but then starts me on what will be a day long bender, generally leading to me drinking on consecutive days for weeks - potentially - before I can find a stop brake again.
In the afternoon Partner & I went into town & a pub garden where I took the car and made myself designated driver to stop that potential opportunity. Late afternoon we got home & the terrace was calling me to sit on it under the blazing sky with a cocktail or two but I again made myself designated driver to do the collection for dinner guests for later so they could all drink. Once I had made that call there was no going back.
Bf was quite tipsy by the end of the night and slurring so I was trying to get Diorylte down him and water to lessen that morning hangover and his car commute today. At this point I almost had an out of body experience in my thinking in that I was trying to force lots of water into my intoxicated partner after drinking alcohol - which is essentially a poison - to stop the effects of the poison. In essence, drink too much and "poison" your body then force water down to stop the effects of the poison you've willingly drank down all day long. Looked at like this it seems ridiculous!
Anyway, we have two separate social engagements tonight (Yes on a Monday!) but I shall be masking this by driving. Bf went off to work this morning suited & booted looking like every mothers dream as he always does but massively hungover feeling awful; whereas I am fresh. Another small victory. :-)
Have a Great Day everyone.

I hope things resolve themselves, NewMe, really quickly.
So far this month I have not managed a single Treat Free Day. Hopeless. Maman, I totally understand the difference between alcohol and a treat; one it seems I can do without completely, the other .. not so much. Another chocolate orange bit the dust yesterday. I don't bake Twinks very often because I find them totally irresistible; it's the combination of the sugar, butter and ginger. And now my mouth's watering.
9/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
Afternoon :hello:
ALD for Thursday. 5 units had over the weekend days - so not ALDs but not too bad either
ShaggyxWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
