Doesn't your neighbour realise they have devalued both properties by making it official.

I know , it`s crazy , we onyl put the note through as we did knock all day but i think they were away for New Year , all they had to do was knock on the door

I am sure that the action they took is extreme; 'there's nowt queer as folk' and all that but if you plan to stay where you are.... I have been extremely lucky that I have never had a neighbour 'issue'. One of my neighbour's (a tad 'odd' at times but he has a wife with health issues) thinks it's fine to use my drive as a short cut to the street for bins etc.; used to p me off a lot when we first moved in. But in the scheme of things, it's nothing and now years later, he still does it but I don't care. Has he done me favours over the years - yes and do we get on? Yes.

As before, I hope it works out for you. You obviously spend time on here helping others so fingers crossed for a positive (and MSE) outcome. Those lawyers cost a bomb and 15foot high fences aren't cheap! ;)

The letter explained what `happened` to the already broken and in our garden panel.....and as for ill feeling , too late for that , the next panel that lands in my garden is being lobbed straight back in their garden , and i dont care where it ends up this time , there wont be any making it neat and tidy , it`ll land straight in their flower bed

You don't need to spend out for new fence panels. Pallets (especially those bright blue Euro ones) plus a couple of old cot sides, some eye-catching orange baler twine and a rusty old lawnmower will mend the hole in the fence nicely. You don't have to look at it as you just plant something attractive and neighbourly (like a leylandii) in front of it or wrap the whole dog's dinner in a bit of that nice bamboo screening!

Your neighbours are fools for how do they think this grossly unfair accusation can ever be erased from your mind?

The only chink of light though might be that the Police will think twice before believing any other complaint from them. It doesn't usually take any authority long to work out who is being spiteful or exaggerating.

Good luck and hope it works out without further upset.

Thanks Paddys mum , its just a shame to join a new neighbourhood , do things the way you should , like go round to talk , send xmas cards etc , then out the blue the police are visiting for a matter already discussed and we thought sorted !

Having moved into our house after a long renovation project one of our "Neighbours" (4 houses down) came up to complain to my wife about our dog barking (it wasn't our dog as it turns out but the dog of the neighbour behind us). anyway I digress.
After spending all of one minute complaining about our dog barking, she then spent about 5 minutes in what I can only call a rant about how our builders parked outside her house (on the public road I might add). how the building work was creating a lot of dust, how the noise from the building work meant she couldn't sleep (during the day)........ blaaa blaa blaa and so she continued......... so what we thought was an issue of our dog barking turned out to be just her being a grumpy old sh.it with nothing better to do than have a moan!! some people are best left to their own devices!!
Well bet she's happy with her direct neighbour now who has just started renovating their house...

I think you will find that they cannot be forced to actually do anything to repair the fence. So if you feel the need for a solid boundary between you and them, it might be up to you to provide it.
I am thankful that in over 35years I have never had anything other than good relations with my neighbours on both sides and at the back. We have quite often shared the cost of fence or hedge repairs as it was to be to the benefit of us both..
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Why do you need to have an argument?

I think you`ll find your wrong , as our deeds are the same as theirs , and specifically state that a fence must be maintained in good order at all times

In reality , yes , i might do it myself , but thats what the deeds say

p.s , there is NO FENCE at this time in any case so nothing to `repair`
