The supermarkets signed up to a minimum price per pint/litre from the farmers in the last couple of years, and I've not heard anything about them going back on that. Milk always used to be a loss-leader (ie. the supermarkets lost money on it, knowing that once you went in for that they had a chance of tempting you to buy things they made a big profit on), so I'm assuming it's a move back to that.

Well they would not have made much money out of me last night. I ended up with 2.5kg of YS beef mince for £1.19, and a 6 pint of milk. I now have enough for months.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

And I'm not sure it's right that I should feel this cross..... :(

I know the feeling but I suppose it's all about compromise. Theirs a lot of stuff I'd want to do to save money but I know OH would never get on board...for example we spend £65 on sky alone... I would be quite happy with freeview but he insists on having sky sports...that he watches about once a month!!!! I wouldn't actually mind if he watched it!! All the other channels he watchs are on freeview.

We sold our old car this week (it's been sat on the drive since before christmas ...whoops) and got £300 for it that was just spare, so we are going out to TGI fridays tonight and will probablly spend £50+ on two meals....it kills me as thats near a weeks shopping on one night...but OH wouldn't agree to just let me save it all so this way I get to pocket (well save) the other £250 towards our MOT, service and two new tyres that need changing(again according to OH but I wouldn't know...)

Anyhoo.... my month runs from 7th-7th so a whole week gone and my credit card stands at just £47/£300 ... currently under budget of £75 a week. Will do my meal plan today and update tomorrow or sunday when we go shopping what it is then...I am dreading this week as £16 alone is going on DS2 because he is gobbling more then a tin a week on his milk!! :rotfl:

Off topic but a note on Sky - we cancelled ours and bought a Now TV box. We got an entertainment pass for three months with the box then bf went on eBay and bought a bundle of 10 24hr Sky Sports passes and another entertainment pass for just £3 (usually £10 each) which he is now using to watch Sky sports when there's a match etc on that he wants to see. There's a lot of the sports passes on eBay as they were given away free with packs of lager for a while and a lot of people have put them online as they don't use Now TV. We also know that the £8.99 for the entertainment package and the cost of the movies package (gets you a great range of films) is still less than our Sky was once our passes run out :-) plus we've worked out you can share the subscription in more than one house so we are splitting the cost with bfs parents!

Back on topic, trip to Tescos ended up in a £4.42 spend from the GC will update my sig now

Neither off me! I did what I said. Went inside. Run with eyes down. Looked at the YS section with the corner of my eye while running. Straight to the milk section. OUT. £2 for milk.

Next shopping is Sunday morning. Maybe bf will get a beer or 2 tonight.

    Happy weekend everyone!!!

    Hi all,

Went to Tesco yesterday for haddock and chorizo. Nearly fell over when the 3 pieces of haddock priced up at £8.50  It was loin, filleted and skinned already so I guess they factor that in, but oh my days......

Did haddock, chorizo and potato one pot from the index last night. It was nice if a slightly odd combination. Felt very rough last night though and haven't been too good today although that is probably down to 'ladies' problems too (sorry if TMI :o)

Tonight I am out with friends, and DD is at a friends for tea. DH and the boys will have chicken curry, rice and naan - easy peasy.

Tomorrow night we will have pork, bacon, mushrooms and philly from the index.

Total spent looks shocking, but the freezer is full of meat, just need to get f&v and milk to go with it all.

    Here's hoping.
