Thanks everyone for your good wishes and very thoughtful words. I am finding things tough just now, for reasons I won't go into.

I need to add a few quid to my signature, bought some bread, milk (now £1 in Sains -- about time!) and um croissants as requested by my daughter.

Still haven't bought anything from the grocery budget since Tuesday but still overspending on the personal spends budget. Wish there was a thread for that as I am sure it would help me keep on track. Sorry for your loss Mrs Cautious. I have been through it myself more than once so really feeling for you.

Sorry you are finding things tough just now but its not suprising is it, another loss so relatively soon and so close to Neils birthday, bound to bring you low. But Hey you are the lady, that in your husbands memory, fund raised like mad and took yourself and your lovely girls out to Africa to make a difference to the lives of children who had nothing. Really hoping you feel better soon, hugs Meg.

  • Soooooo frustrated with DH!! I thought I'd done well today with shopping at Mr A& Mr L getting the veggies in for just over £20. However as DD is pescitarian I asked DH to get Qu0rn, milk & fajita mix( which the don't do at A & L) when he was out tonight. The total of the stuff I asked him to get should gave come to just over £8. He managed to spend £18! On carp to boot! Grrrr! Asked him to go to Mr T for the items so we could get the points towards fuel discount and he goes to Mr M!! What is the point in me budgeting, scrimping when he blows it. Of course the kids think he's bl00dy great cos he bought crisps, olives & dip( and I don't!). £10 of carp that will be gone by this time tomorrow night!!

And I'm not sure it's right that I should feel this cross..... :(

  • Yesterday & today have been NSDs! :j

Ooh! I am loving my new A Girl Called Jack cookbook. After the drab Baba Ghanoush (or whatever it was called :rotfl:) earlier in the week, I made a successful loaf of soda bread yesterday morning which was lovely with our soup yesterday, as toast for DDs & as eggy bread for me this morning.

Today I have made her Chickpea & tomato bread (using sun dried tomatoes)! DH & I have pinched a sneaky slice each, just to test it obviously, and it is lovely! That'll be great for tomorrow's lunch.

Last night DH & I had mushy pea curry with added chicken for dinner and managed to put 2 portions in the freezer. Tonight has been bacon sandwiches as Thursday is our, more than normal, rushed night!

    Night night all! :)

Am now an Al*i convert -

Look on the MSE board about good and bad buys in A*di and L*dl for ideas and advice.
Sure you'll do it and hope this helps.
I 'converted' ages ago, and use Al*i, Li*l, F.Fds, Home Bags and £1 shops for most things. Ok, you don't always get 'branded' stuff but worth a try to save £££s. Have to admit that some He*nz stuff not replaceable but lots of these stores do them sometimes. I feel sorry for those who don't have access to these and have to rely on the big SMs for all their shopping :(

Don't know if it would help - I told my DH that he could buy what he liked 'off list' if he pays for it and it's working so far :rotfl:

Spent £2.99 on a steak pie from the butcher/baker (very good) which we had for tea with mash, steamed veg and gravy and a spend of £3.28 in Li*l for big bag pots and cheese.

Have put gammon joint in S/C tonight for dinner tomorrow.

Hope you all have a fantastic Friday
