Back from my weekly shop £15.61 in Aldi and £36.05 in Asda - but this did include £18.50 on a 24 pack of loo roll, three tubes of sensitive toothpaste on offer and a bottle of mouthwash £4.50 . I could have got a bottle of wine for less!
Planning a big batch of turkey chilli, PH's scones and cake - lemon drizzle I think.

Hi Fae, not sure if this is the corsodyl mouthwash but it was in savers for £3.30 - i looked everywhere for the cheapest as it was taking a lot out of my budget.

Faete - I get mine when the Boots 3 for 2 offer is on. It works out about £3 I think.

I am almost at budget now and still have 10 days to the end of my month. What it means in effect is that I can't do any shopping next weekend and will have to wait until the following one, when I may actually need something. Other than the odd lettuce, I don't believe I will need anything and I still have £88 on an Asda savings card left over from Christmas. This challenge is quiet hard for someone who actually enjoys buying food!

Just updated my sig with this week's shops and just realised I forgot to add £4 for fruit and veg bought at the market. Am clearly too reliant on receipts to remind me! Anyhow I'm about just over halfway spent at the halfway point in the month and have meal planned for the next 9 days.

Well done all! Have only read this last page. Welcome to Timetochange2014 - this site is a great inspiration to us all!

just signed upto that sun+ thing for a £1 and have email confirmation that I have a £20 morries voucher on the way. pleased with that as i also have milk tokens for my DD for milk and veg, £12ish every 4 weeks, so added to the £20 should be a good shop in a couple of weeks and a nice little break from mr A

Have people found that sun+ delay quite good then? Was tempted to sign up if it really is just £1 and you get the M's voucher and easy to cancel before any other charges

ETA: just tried to sign up and it won't let me use the code :'(

  • It just keeps telling me the code has been used, shame although not a life altering issue I know.

I have done a freezer inventory today inspired by another thread and have surprising list things. I intend to start making use of what I have and plan some batch cooking of casseroles and the like so must start to factor the cost of stewing steak etc into next months budget. I will check the local crawshaws butchers for frices as their 3 trays for £10 offer often features stewing steak and trays of around 16 sausages etc.

I'm thinking if I plan to batch cook four meals a month for the freezer it will keep us ticking over for lazy days. For ch I am thinking sausage casserole, beef casserole and steak pie (made with stewing steak slow cooked then topped with pastry). Ideally I'd like to get four portions of each in to the freezer!
